Solution against jealous kids?
Wait… I feel dumb…. people you have blocked can join your lfg?
That…. doesn’t seem right. I feel like if someone is blocked they shouldn’t be able to join an lfg you are currently in. Isn’t that… part of the point?

It should be, and is in other games. But in our still so called Beta LFG Tool, it is sadly not the case as far as I know.
you may keep them to rear new and interesting variants in your basement.

Yes they can join you, I had it happen. I don’t know who had this magnificient idea.

Yeah, it’s utterly annoying. Use fillers to avoid being kicked, and just kick them at first sight. It’s not worth the time, they are stubborn. Except if it’s a new player with low ap, just explain how you do it legit and all, if the guy is intelligent enough he will leave you alone. It would be great if blocked people couldn’t join a group though, and let’s dream a bit, a special lfg section for selling. But i feel your pain, i already got those in my groups, as everyone did when soloing.
Actually, the point of the lfg is to make it easier to find pick up groups without creative chat spamming or third party websites.
But including block lists as a no-go should be an incorporated feature nonetheless.
I remember other MMOs with similar features where the blocklist also prevented you from being shuffled into the same pvp match.

Not sure if this was directed at me or not, but I meant the point of blocking someone (besides, you know, not wanting to see them talk), not the point of the lfg.;

Sorry Allaraina, I’m currently a bit obtuse apparently.

This is why you only block gold sellers. You ‘block’ lovely people like the ones OP speaks of by adding them to “friends”, and making a nice user note about them, so you can see if they join your party or not.

… wow… I suddenly feel like I have no idea how this game functions. xD
Either I’ve been insanely oblivious or insanely lucky with my dungeon runs to not have had much of an issue. But then, I haven’t tried selling any of them yet…
http://asuratime.tumblr.com/
I’ve always wondered why the LFG tool doesn’t let you screen via the usually pop up.
Maybe we could rebrand the old gw2lfg site for selling. The only way that works is via /whisper or /join, so folks can’t just drop it and destroy your instance.
If ANet won’t fix it, we’ll have to do it ourselves…
Selling is another story because some people spend their life whiteknighting ( new verb right here) the lfg and looking for us the filthy exploiters (berserker exploit, reading exploit, reflects exploit, dodge exploit, being good at the game exploit, melee exploit, etc )to report. Then when it’s 3 am they’ll secretely buy a run because they can’t do arah and playing the game is an exploit.

This is a good idea, time to convert the majority of my block list (I was told long ago that it prevented them from joining the group…)
Hey there buddy!
Have you heard about these things called fillers? They amazing!

this just made my day,
and OP you said you were duoing the dungeon, couldnt you and your buddy just kick them as soon as they join?

You know when they join my party and a green tick appears next to my buddy’s name, there isn’t a single second to ask my buddy to kick them before they kick him.

I’m playing the game to enjoy it, not to struggle against human stupidity.
Nor do i have other accounts to use them as “fillers”, nor willing to ask others to spend their time on a pointless thing because of poor design.
I stopped selling because of that but fillers aren’t that hard to get if you’re also filling other people ( god that sounded dirty) in exchange. Since arah selling is dead, give it, people are always happy with a free arah.
It is a pain. But fillers are necessary. Usually it is simple enough. No one needs waste time. Filler can be afk or on another map etc. Usually If some one in our guild ask I am one of the first to lend a hand.
I really appreciate and enjoy how the game supports the “i play how i want” style.
Tho… I’d even more apreciate to be able to exclude those from my sight who try(and do) spoil the way i play the game.
I usually play 2-3 hours per day, spending 1.5h duoing TA aetherpath with my friend.
I do this because it’s one of the most challening content in the game, and i enoy challenges. Besides that i’d really like to get some Aetherized Nightmare skins. And since it’s confirmed that selling legit dungeons is legit, we usually sell the last boss.
I don’t see what i am doing wrong, but i usually end up people joining my party, accusing us with exploiting, lying to others not to pay bacause we stole his money, or if he is not alone then they kick the host, reseting the whole dungeon… They joined, kicked the host, and left before my loading screen disappeared. Then i advertised the dungeon again, so they joined again, got their name, before i got kicked again. Is this the only was to get their names?
I know their names, but im not that kind of person seeking revange, i could invite them to a high level fractal and kick them on the last boss, but… well im not angry… just sad because they are free to bully me from playing the way i want.
So im just quitting this game until this issue gets solved.
Either block list should affect the LFG so they cant join my party, or they LFG should be changed so i can decide if i let them join or not, like when someone clicks on my name, hits join, and i can reject. Also… can i report those people for LFG abuse, or anything?
There is a group who is playing WvW while kicking all people from their dungeon instances (there was no other dungeon seller on LFG, so i assume i wasn’t the only one whom they did this) I see they like hurting others on wvw, but the LFG is not a pvp game mode. They can do this while playing happily on wvw, it only takes them 5 seconds, but takes away my 1.5hour. And i don’t even get a chat log about what happened.
Yes, you can report for LFG abuse.
Now as to Anet actually banning them is another matter.
If you just need somebody to sit in your party to prevent kicking, be happy to do that while I’m off doing my own thing if you see me online. Course to guarantee no kicks you could really only sell to 1 person I suppose.
Really crappy thing to do to somebody, sorry it’s been happening to you.

Welcome to the part of the ‘community’ that accuses us of being ‘toxic.’
You’re just going to have to use fillers and proxies to get past these people sadly :(

Oh sorry. Silly me thinking you want a solution to your problem(as stated).
The design is indeed poor. But what can you do? Either find a good solution or suck it up! Many things make people unhappy. Some work around it. Some stick to their guns and ragequit! Only you can decide.
By the way, a lot of people are willing to fill. I always seem to find people to do that for me. I do the same for them! It’s not the best scenario but it works pretty nicely.
I’ll use my lack of aether as an excuse but when did 4man puzzle transform into 2man puzzle?
You can report them for LFG abuse, but it’s not like anything’s going to happen. Friend of mine and me got kicked in Fractals 50 at Mai Trin just recently. Even have it on a stream VoD, and when you have it on tape you would think it would be easy to deliver justice, but no. Anet haven’t done anything yet, and they probably won’t either.
Host stays. Friend leaves party. Friend posts LFG to sell path. Buyers pay friend. Friend confirms buy. Host invites buyer(s). Repeat until filled. Finish dungeon. Split the monies.
I honestly wouldn’t pay to a random guy who isn’t even inside the dungeon.
I’ll use my lack of aether as an excuse but when did 4man puzzle transform into 2man puzzle?
We only need 2 dummies to stand on the already unlocked platforms for <2minutes.
~ “LF help@TarEle” but these guys don’t have to do anything.
Ooze part is easily duoable.

Well if you’re calling people helping you out dummies then perhaps the ones trolling you have a grudge >.>; I’m not saying they’re right to do it but … it’s not nice to belittle people who are helping you, either.

It bothers me that there is no real solution to this.
Blocking people should prevent them from entering your group. Another thing is that ANet should actually take action against people joining a group and instantly kicking a person. Same with people that kick towards the end of dungeons/fractals as long as they can prove it. That stuff is perma-ban griefing level IMO.
I personally don’t really like the whole selling path thing, but whatever I leave people alone.
It’s just a sad part of the game. I’ve had some people tell me they should destroy someone else’s instance because they were selling a path “too cheap” and that it bothered them…. just seriously infuriating. Selling paths is a free market. If someone undercuts you, match them or be patient. Then of course I know some others that are anti-zerker for some reason and go out of their way to grief anyone/anything labelled as zerker.
It’s really frustrating getting labelled as an elitist or kitten, when I keep bad players in my groups when I pug (unless it’s the beginning and the description specifically asked for something else), but I get griefed for no real reason. I guess I’m such a bad person trying to get my runs done quickly.
I’ve had some people tell me they should destroy someone else’s instance because they were selling a path “too cheap” and that it bothered them…. just seriously infuriating.
That was me I think, referring to someone who was obviously exploiting the path and selling it every 10 mins for the quarter of the normal price (very easy to do, for example in Arah path 3 you skip the first 2 bosses – takes maybe 2mins – wall and oneshot Lupi with WoR and you can already post the lfg)… Maybe my standards are too high, but I don’t think someone should be rewarded for doing that.
But hey, whatever… I’m not even selling any more when I see them around. Neither do I go out of my way to destroy their instances or tell anyone they should. Not that the griefers care anyway. I don’t know if it’s still that bad, but when I was selling a long time ago on EU, I had my instance being destroyed multiple times a day. Still, I can’t think of a single time they checked if a path was exploited or not.
From my observation it’s generally two groups of people. Those who think that selling paths in general shouldn’t be allowed and others who are against people making high profits (if there was a way to grief TP flippers, they’d do that too). It really went that far that you would have people kicking you when you asked for help at the Tar boss (or in my case, at the p3 lights when I was still a nub who couldn’t solo them).
I never understood why people from your block list could still join your parties. Or why Anet doesn’t take action against griefers. After months of destroying everyone’s hard work, I still see them logging on daily (I also remember that being said about someone who was famous for it on NA).
Right now, there are not many ways to prevent that from happening to you. You could make proxy parties, but that wouldn’t leave people a way to tell if you are scamming them or not (not that you would do it, it’s just something that many are afraid of). Who would you trust more, someone who already finished the path or someone not even in a dungeon collecting gold for someone else?
Then you could use an extern site to offer your services, but since the introduction of the LFG tool people stopped using gw2lfg. Maybe you could try having a friend post something along the lines of “selling path X, on gw2lfg.com, /join – X gold/each”?
Of course you can also have fillers and let people pay one by one before you invite the next one.
I have done that when I started selling paths. Nowadays I don’t bother having 4 people in the party before I post my LFG any more. I don’t think any of my friends would appreciate me asking to waste their free time every hour or so. Occasionally I’m asking for help in the guild chat and I would only pm someone when I knew that selling on my own isn’t possible right now because there are griefers around (ty IvanTheGrey, I really appreciate your help).
Personally, I learned dealing with griefers as something that just happens. To me, it’s part of my every day business. The first time I was kicked on NA I could only laugh about it, I think I also posted it on the forums. So maybe just accept the situation as it is and move on?
The Order of Calamity [OOC] is recruiting!
5/8 Champion titles
It’s sad to read this happening, even when the games’ own developers have stated that selling dungeon paths is okay. I have problems trying to understand the motivation of these people…
Anyways, one way to not get yourself kicked would be having a friend jump in his own instance of the same dungeon, have his own party and stand in entrance without completing anything, make the LFG and redirect trustable people to /join your name with the real instance. They would not need to pay anything before they are in the real instance with you, the real seller. This way, if griefers join your friends party and kick him, nothing is lost.
Yeah, seems like a lot of trouble and some buyers might have problems trusting this system but I can’t come up with any other way

Wow 1v1 me noob
There are more of these envious people – than you guys might think – who have more fun kicking people than actually playing the game. I’ve met people who don’t just kick you but they blackmail you first to kill the endboss (or else they kick you) so they get the rewards for free. Obviously, they kick the the others who don’t own the instance then they state that if u invite anyone they will kick you. I rather tried to invite somebody than to just do them a favor. Of course they were prepared and they kicked me first.
The worst thing is that block list and report doesn’t do a thing. Friends list is more useful against them which is absurd.
You can’t always just invite 2-3 friends to be placeholders until you invite the buyers then tell them to leave…(they have their own business in/outside gw2 + it’s awkward to always rely on them)

You. You’re funny. I like it.

Yeah I meant to edit that to say whoever exits operates as a filter to make sure no jerks enter and then let them join the host to pay. Idk what happen to my edit though.

Wow
And here ladies and gentlemen is the jealous kid op told us about.
runeblade’s right. idc what aent says selling dungeons is just wrong i need arah number four for my master dungon achevement but onyl groups on lfg charge for runs
why not just run 4 fun insted of cheatin and esploiting for profit?
isnt this game suposed to NOT b p2w?
Pls do something anet
*dungon master achevement
GW1 had a long tradition of people running either hard areas (so you could get max armor earlier) or hard missions (for HM bonus). I did it plenty there.
Wouldn’t expect it to change. If you don’t wanna pay um … start a group the old fashioned way? and lol @pay2win

I cannot understand your mindset.
If you want to do Arah P4 on your own, start your own group on the LFG. It’s not difficult to do. Join one of the Saturday morning Arah tours advertised by Ivan on these forums. Also, not difficult. Join [Noob] as advertised on these fourms, and ask one of the mentors to help you out. Also, not difficult. There’s literally nothing stopping you except for your own lack of any action. Or, I’m sure you’ve made friends in other areas of the game, yes? I’m sure you can find enough people to do Arah with you.
There isn’t any “cheating” or “exploiting” going on here. Just people running a dungeon path, and selling it. ANET is fine with this, and people doing this doesn’t really impact your ability to play how you want. Go do the path on your own, should that be what you desire, no one is stopping you. People selling a dungeon path seems to be one of the very few skill gated sources of income in GW2; GW2 needs more stuff like this, not less. Not only this, but people did similar things in GW1. Sell missions? Check. Sell runs to various places on the map so people didn’t have to fight there, or even complete large chunks of the game to get there? Check.
There’s no “pay to win” involved in buying a dungeon path. Getting the Dungeon Master title is not “winning”. Having to contribute zero effort for your completion isn’t “winning” either. If anything, this is “play to win”, because the people selling these paths are playing the game skillfully and being appropriately rewarded for it; dungeon path selling seems to be one of the few areas of the game where demonstrating a good level of player skill is more rewarding than just mashing buttons or the semi-afk training of events/world bosses/eotm/whatever cool new zero skill braindead level of required intelligence afk level of effort new farm spot there might be.
