Sorrow's Embrace Golem #2
Although you don’t need “specific setups” to get through a dungeon, some encounters do force you to adapt. Just like how some encounters are not melee/range friendly, or require mobility (and your character may be specced for stationary cannon), this encounter requires careful control of applied conditions. Adapt and overcome. It takes a bit of practice. Try to bring alot of Reflect Projectile spells with you, such as the Guardians Wall of Reflection. The reflected damage could be very good, especially considered damage may be hampered from lack of conditions. If all else fails, just slowly whittle him down while staying alive. Yes it may take a while, but whatever it takes for victory should be used.
Yeah we did slowly whittle him down but it took an eternity. I’m not saying it’s impossible, and I’m not saying the mechanic is completely unwelcome, but not in a story mode dungeon. It’s just a little absurd to spend that much time doing a story mode, especially when the explorable is much, much easier in comparison. It just needs a little tuning is all.
Guardian with Wall of Reflection using a Shield will have no problem with this boss.
Most professions have some sort of anti-projectile skills.
Some are stronger, like the Guardians Wall of Reflection, but there’s plenty others.
I’ll just say this was one of the least enjoyable bosses I’ve seen in a dungeon so far. Conditions are used on so many skills, I resorted to just spamming 1, dodging his attacks and ressing people.
Needless to say, bashing on a thing for 20 minutes auto-attack only ain’t much fun. Maybe if they lowered his HP to half of what it’s now, or make him a silver mob it would’ve been better…
I also feel extremely sorry for any party that attempted this boss, got him down to 3/4 or less HP then party wiped and had him reset health.
Guardian with condition removals. You have no idea how ridicilously easy the fight was with a condition removal guy.
It is admittedly kind of the bane of zerg groups that just charge in, don’t know what conditions are, don’t think rezzing is that important, and couldn’t name an anti-projectile skill.
5 necromancers can do this….dodge, use wells to remove conditions and the rest is don’t stand in the fire circles. How is this hard?
How do you manage to res on this golem? We specifically decided to not do any ressing on him because we kept dying when ressing. He’d just shoot fire field making it very hard to res.
That might’ve been what was prolonging the fight for me. I felt like I was on that boss for a good 5 minutes dodging the same set of moves over a dozen times.
I think it needs to lose the heal on conditions. It’s the kind of passive padding that makes fights not fun.
I second Arcturus. Once we loaded up some more condition removal and I went full condition removal with my support warrior (shake it off removes a condition in an AoE and 2 warhorn skills that remove conditions and turn them to boons and grant vigor and swiftness) it was a long slog but under control. I spend the fight putting other players out, rezzing, and only occasionally doing damage and had a blast doing it. You can rez in this fight pretty easy if you have a thief do the safety dome or if you just don’t stand in the lava fonts if they appear under you. You just have to have some kind of regeneration going.
Killed him three times now and finished story mode twice. One time Mr. Kudu bugged out and we actually KILLED him after the golem (He didn’t get a chance to run ha).
It isn’t that bad, but it just needs HP toned down a tad. For a fight with roughly 3 phases on easy mode it takes FOREVER to kill him.
Trust me the final boss is a gimmie after that guy. =/
