Also doesnt help that you expect people to know completely pointless tactics for pulling. Much easier to tell a pug to cc to the wall or LoS in the corner (wtf is that thief pull for alpha). Most people who read the chat should be able to grasp that. But you should never expect any pug to do anything right.

I communicate! with the people on mumble. F the rest of em. we have taken to 3 manning with my few guildies just because I cant be bothered to ask for simple things and get silence.

He must mean bjarl. And im surpised he doesnt know. That scorp wire is incredibly important. For the preceeding alpha, we use 4x fgs. Then we keep our fgs and I bait bjarl. He gets knocked back against the pillar, then thief pulls him back to pillar, and us 4 fgs him to death. Almost instant kill. That scorp wire is not “completely pointless” – its vital. And I was annoyed that the thief didnt do it even though I told him to beforehand.

No no i misread. It was your comment about the start mobs (for some reason i thought you meant los alpha into the alcove and blind the little risen).

But expecting pugs to kill all of those start mobs at the same time is a recipe for a wipe. Should just pull the elementals first and then do the rest.

The thing is, if your party’s DPS sucks, you using FGS is even more important than it is in a proper, zerk meta-build guild run. I’m probably the #1 fan of FGS (I stack 2 or 3 Ele’s and try to maximize it’s use in guild runs), so even the idea of not using FGS is just too terrible to contemplate. And even pugs know how to properly use FGS these days (the one saving grace of most pugs).

What will you do if they nerf it?

So I waited for a zerker/experienced/ping gear type group to pop up for CoE, as I was inspired by Anierna’s experiement, it went as follows:

I joined up, pinged my gear and all that, then asked if they wanted me to swap to my elementalist, because there was another guard in the group, and double guards are bleh in CoE. I was told not to, because “3 heavies and 2 eles is perfect”. The others ping gear and it’s a mess, sure it’s berserker, but the runes range from ruby orbs to soldiers runes.

They pull the ice eles and I drop my reflect for the ice shards, the elementals are alive long enough to ice shard a second time, 2 people die; I notice the other guard is staff and I have strength in numbers.

They fail to bait out the leap for the champ wolf, 3 people die. When we get to alpha no one knocks him back, 3 people run to the corner and sit there anyway; an ele targets FGS and 2 people go down.

On the golem boss the warrior is running around killing all the turrets the whole time, the fire fields are ruined by staff 3. Next up on the console the warrior says “1-4 i defnd’”, on the 4 part 1 person must have activated immediately because as soon as the countdown is finished we get the 2/5 complete message. We manage to activate it twice more before we get knocked off. One ele apologizes for failing, the guard responds with “lol it’s ok, ur hot, i always forgive hot girls” and I face palm.

The rest of it pretty much continues along those lines; we never have more than 15ish stacks of might, and I am sure a bunch of them are from me spamming my virtue and my single blast finisher from focus.

I am sad.

Heh, it’s pretty easy to separate oneself; sitting at gallants folly watching people brawl with those whispers NPCs, knowing that a good number of them are probably looking for experienced only CoE groups.

There is a condi engi and a mace/shield guardian going at it right now, it’s taking forever.

Edit: maybe next I’ll wait for an LFM that says READ: zerker blah blah, I have time to kill before I have to cook dinner.

I’m not going to defend PuG strategies as optimal, because they’re not. I know how to pop the AC bosses in 2 seconds each with FGS, and I do this on guild runs all the time.

But when I’m doing a run at 3 AM and no guildies are awake, I know I can reliably beat down the Howling King in the center of the room in 20-30 seconds if I have just one or two reliable melee zerkers with me. I could try to explain to them how to go around the corner or wait for him to walk by the wall, but it’s faster to just use the PUG strategy, and I have to type less. I know it would be faster in an organized group, but a run that’s a few minutes longer is not the end of the world for the convenience that I get (being able to run at 3 AM when all reasonable people should be asleep).

So my point is… yes, we all know that PUGs are bad. Duh. But they’re still good enough to get you through most dungeons and get you your daily gold in the easier dungeons. In the harder ones, or ones that require more coordination, I tend to screen the PUGs more closely (gearchecks, etc.) and it still works out.

If your goal with PUGs is to run completely meta with full efficient fights in every situation, you’re gonna have a bad time. If your goal is to get a reasonably smooth run to get your gold, it’s completely possible to be satisfied.

so, can we call the zerker the “wanna be zerk”? and the real ones beserkers?

He used to speak so highly of his skill as a favor between forum goers; but now, let him think about his own debt.

He’s laughed at my attempts to make him see the futility of clerics, made fun of my berserker’s gear, attempted to humiliate my fellow berserkers, thwarted my attempts at logic, turned ANet developers against me, riled up my enemies—and why? Because I’m a Berserker. Does not a Berserker have HP? Does not a Berserker have Power, Precision, Ferocity, 10 skills on the skill bar, dodge button, and consumables? Does not a Berserker kill the same mobs, get hurt with the same Agony, get sick with the same poison, get healed by the same utility skill, and warm up in the glow of shines and cool off in the lack of dev communication like a staff guardian, bearbow ranger or rifle wielding warrior? If you prick us with torment, do we not bleed? If you knock us down, do we not get up? If you poison us, do we not use condi cleanse? And if you insist that the game isn’t meant to be played by only beserkers, will we not try to make you see reason? If we’re like you in everything else, we’ll resemble you in that respect. Dungeons and mechanics in general are way to ambiguous for casual players or PUGers like me to develop counter measures. Sometimes you can block projectiles, other times you cannot and you must evade ( Arch Diviner).

The champion icebrood wolf for example, you do not see anything comming he simply instagibs you, without notice. It was not until I tryed soloing him I noted you need to bait his lunge/w.e it is what hits you.

12 seconds is terribly slow? The enemy not even getting to attack is terrible slow….do I even nee to address that? that is case in point of what I’m talking about. How can you fight something if it doesn’t have the chance to fight?! I just…how else can I prove it, a run that is so fats the enemy couldn’t even do anything is somehow terribly slow?! Seriously!
And dude, half the posters in that topic didn’t understand what they were even saying, I can -still- see a bunch of hypocrisy posts. I wasn’t the only one being foolish.
