Stacking to kill Spider Queen in AC
This must be the 30th thread with the same topic…
i searched before i posted and i didn’t see anything. Link plz?
Some people usually does that. If the group stacks “correctly”, the spider wont throw poison fields. But imo, it doesn’t really make the fight easier, you can just be less careful
You guys must’ve been stacking in the wrong spot unless they fixed this today. I stacked the spider last night and it was fine.
Don’t know why your party left though. The spider is easy legit, just takes longer.
Sounds like an exploit. I don’t see the point since she’s incredibly easy. Any class that uses a long ranged weapon can solo her with ease. She has a very very basic attack pattern.
LoS isnt exploit as spider queen still can hit you and team members do take damage. it forces people into melee and constant dps (besides healing) which takes her down faster then most people would think vs spreading out, dodgeing ranged etc. Yes, bad teams will still wipe. I would blame the puller, as i have had times where she is pulled excellent almost in the far back corner, and other times where she comes around and almost into you (bad).
Also if someone moves, even a little after the pull – this causes epic problems.
This specific LoS is probably an exploit. If you get her in the right spot she can’t hit you and she dies very fast since you don’t have to dodge at all. Plus when you LoS it gets all those range happy pugs to pull out their melee which makes it go faster as well.
Either way, I would never range her. She’s still very easy to melee when played legit.
LoS is used to gather mobs and not to negate an attack she is always supposed to be using. If it only works in a certain spot then obviously it is unintended by the devs.

As people said before: Spider Queen’s most dangerous attack is the poison pools. Getting her into that corner under the stairs forces her into extreme melee for the entire fight, which I think is what prevents her from throwing the poison. If she doesn’t throw poison, your typical group can tank her damage / kill her quickly enough they don’t have to worry too much about it.
However, if you mess it up a little and she makes any sort of distance, she can then throw all 3 of her (normally spread) pools directly across your entire stacked & trapped party, resulting in a near-guaranteed wipe.
I bet you could do a similar thing if your entire group got on top of her and pushed her into a wall, but as is, hiding in that corner makes her come to your group.
It’s pretty obvious, and nobody’s impressed.
You can stack on the spider queen anywhere, what determines the success of the stack is whether or not people move, if people move queen does psn attack, wiping the party. If people don’t move she will just spew web and melee.
However if the groups dps is good she should only live for about 30 seconds, if that.

On that path 2 run we did of which we posted the end boss fight, she died in 12 seconds.

@OP
All you are missing is good dps.

It’ll likely get ninja patched next month.
Also, if you have necros with minions in your group you need to tell then to kill then before the fight, or if you have a ranger you need to put the pet on peaceful to make this exploit works.
If she drops poison on you when trying to do that method just hightail it out of there? It’s pretty easy to see a poison field go down. Happened once where the stack didn’t work, I legged it out of there with 3/4 health and purged the poison as soon as I was clear, turned around ready to fight her proper only to find my whole team was defeated. I was just like “…really?”

The stacking only doesn’t work when people are moving.
If you’re in melee range and don’t move, she won’t use the poison attack (a lot like lupi and his dome), but if some genius decides he wants to strafe a bit in the tiny corner, she might decide to murder your party.
Same with Whirlwind by the way. It doesn’t happen every time, but it can happen when you use WW as well, so careful with that as well.

If your party does it right, she doesn’t cast her AoE, which is the only threatening thing about her.
It’s not so much about making her easier – she’s so easy I can solo her on my Ele. The stacking is so it goes faster. If everyone stacks like they are supposed to from the beginning of the encounter, you’ll be done in no more than 1 min. Parties who fight the hatchings in batches, then the Queen usually take 5+ mins on it. For speed runs, it is essential.

Dont move. Lol. What an awesome game.
As far as I can tell
It’s a ‘Subject Alpha if you don’t bug it’ kind of stack, not a ‘Colossus Rumblus’ kind of stack.
That is to say, somebody isn’t cheesing a mechanic with terrain, it’s part of Spider Queen’s AI behavior set that she starts throwing Poison Fields at ranged players. You can technically take advantage of this behavior anywhere, even in the middle of room, just bust out the ole’ melee weapon and go to town.
Stacking in the corner just starts your dungeon off with a hearty helping of otherwise easily avoided spiderweb, and the pull itself is problematic. You’re attempting to trigger the line of sight chasing AI behaviors before the AI has a chance to recognize your pull attempts as the ranged attacks they technically are and load up the Poison Fields. And this is true for the initial pull, the attempt to get her past the pillar corner, and the overall mechanic that causes critical hits to gently nudge an enemy ever so slightly away from the player (because in this stacking tactic, the fairly corpulent spider queen often ends up facing into the corner and has room to be nudged around).
I swear, I’ve only done it a few times but it’s rapidly earning a place on my big list of ‘cheesy tactics that are way more trouble than they’re worth but will probably become Meta anyway/are inexplicably a part of the Meta’.

The best part of the pull is that it’s really just an easy way to kill all of the poison spitting spider adds without having to worry about the queen’s poison pools. Even if I had to kill the queen out in the open, at least the spiders would be dead first.
Time and time again I see people complaining about using certain tactics whether they’re for/against them. Please for the love of Trahearne’s ego can you just make sure you post clearly into gw2lfg.com what type of group you are looking for and abide by people’s wishes if they’re also looking for certain types of players? For example, if you’re new, make sure you tell people that when you join a group or looking for one, or if you want only 80s, or if you’re looking for experienced players. I’ve run AC so many times that it’s just really stale and I’m tired of the bugs/inconsistency so when I run into some of these completionist people, it’s super annoying.
TL;DR Use the kitten icons and text fields on LFG so you can pug with like minded people. Only join groups if you fit into what they’re looking for.
I don’t think it is necessary but just makes the dungeon go faster and easier. I believe everyone has to use melee weapons or the spider will cast the poision and wipe the party but a Guard should be able to mitigate the damage.
its so easy i cant believe pugs cant do this.. this problem happens because
a – someone is not stacking correctly.. (you cant move an inch or she will poisn)
b – bad pull.. (dont pull too many spiders if your with a pug team)
c – bad team.. bad builds etc..
No, the problem happens if she actually uses her AEs. Aside from that, you need to actually have some defensive players in your group. For example, when I was on my thief, who is balanced stat wise, in a full berserker group, they got completely rolled.
When I was in a group with two guardians, it was easy peasy.
For the record though, I don’t really support fighting her this way and feel that it requires a specific group type, and I don’t like playing like that. I prefer just fighting her normally.
You can’t scream this is an exploit.
Lets look at this rationally. She spurts poison when everybody is spread out ranging. She does not spurt poison when everybody is stacked in a corner. Me thinks that the boss uses poison when she detects her target (or an enemy) is at range.
Therefore it seems like stacking on this boss was intentional, the stacking at the stairs keeps her close.
The best place my guild has found to stack ison the right pillar of the arch right before you enter the spider room. Me and my friend usually get in early to kill all the adds to make it easier. Noticed if you go in the corner next to the arch she shoots through the crack in the wall but stacking the pillar pulls her and then you just melee her down. It’s not an exploit, it’s LoS pulling
I only say it’s an exploit because you say people need to stack just right in melee. One mistake and she continues to use the poison. If people could attack in melee however they want then it wouldn’t be an exploit. If the latter were the case then it would be like Alpha.
