Still no dragonite ore in dungeons
Personnally, I find Dragonite already easy enough to get.
- You got Keep for WvW, which not is good enough,
- You got World Boss for PvE. You could make a lot of them with a world boss train, and now its easier to do the normal world boss with the megaserver (not talking about Teq of Triple Wurm)
- You got some reward track in sPvP. Which is the least efficient way of doing it, but it better than the nothing we used to get and its fun to play.
Dungeon is already a good way to earn gold and gear up in exotic, no need to make it a good way to earn dragonite. You need a balance of reward between the different things you can do in the game. Not concentrate everything in 1 aspect, making it the only efficient thing to do in it.

I agree with OP. If these materials can be farmed just by playing pvp, why shouldn’t they also be farmed by only dungeoning? I think you should be able to either get it all from one place or split it up. Give us more options!

Back before megaservers, I could get 20 world bosses done in 1 hr 30 mins. I’d have 3 windows of gw2stuff.com open on my 2nd screen, 1 for BG, 1 for JQ, and 1 for SoR/TC. I’d set them to auto-refresh. Whenever a world boss appeared (the main event, not the pre), I’d guest to one of those 3 servers and snag kill credit in the nick of time.
Megaservers have now killed that sort of lucrative world-boss farming, so I can no longer get that insane amount of rares + dragonite ore. Luckily, I did that 20 bosses-in-1.5 hr farm for months, so I’ve got bank-tabs of the stuff left over.
I pity new players though, since getting dragonite ore will be pretty tough now. The new mega-servers have done exactly the opposite of what they were meant to do: they’ve actually made world boss farming take longer, due to boss timer changes. So I’m all for helping them out by making dragonite obtainable in dungeons.
Yeah i have no fast way of getting dragonite anymore. Luckily my dungeon group now takes a break to go do tequatl almost every day. So i can get a regular 40 dragonite + karma. And yesterday i got the mini teq, so 40 dragonite a couple thousand karma and 15g isnt bad for 40 mins of waiting around.
But finishing any ascended gear is a huge pain in the kitten now. I used to get my mats together and then farm bosses for a few days till i had enough for the vision crystal. Now im completely stuck without dragonite for weeks just to finish one piece of ascended.
Actually getting dragonite ores is quite easy with the EotM train. Just boring.

The EotM train is a terrifying thing to behold imho. It’s champtrain 2.0 and nothing else.
Unless you crash into another zerg. But even then it usually becomes clear pretty quickly which side has the upper hand and then the weaker will do their best to avoid further confrontations.
It also makes the “mist runner” title of the Season 2 meta achievement shine in an entirely different light. shudders

The problem is you have sit in the karma train for a reasonable amount of time to get the dragonite. And the pvp isnt exactly fast either. The megaserver killed pve methods of obtaining dragonite for me. So im in full support of dragonite in dungeons or fractals (prefer fractals).

I can’t believe you phaggerinos don’t support this. Phaggonite ore is kittening atrocious to grind, even before mega-yservers. Nowadays my only source of Phaggonite ore is guild challenge…

They’re too hard for people who don’t like PvP or WvW. I spend the majority of my time in dungeons, and I’m stuck going without ascended gear unless I go do something I don’t want to do. Whatever happened to play how you want?
Fractals are the only content in the game which reqiures asc items (especially if they will inrease max lvl in future again), but u get only the stupid ascended fragments.
The easiest and most brain AFK content in the game (open world bosses, stay at range and press 11111111) and u will get tons of dragonit ore……
That´s kinda stupid design.

Do you regularly PvP and WvW? EotM you only really get dragonite from flipping keeps which isn’t always guaranteed to happen and wasn’t really all that fast last time I tried it. I’m not sure how much dragonite PvP gives but again it’s not PvE. You saying that it can be farmed in open world basically misses the point that the megaserver drastically reduced the rate of dragonite ore acquisition (temples are near impossible to get now unless you camp them for 1+h, can’t use guesting to triple your rate, and ore is now restricted by the new timers on Golem/etc.).
You need to capture a Dratini or Dragonair and get it to evolve. Both of these can be found by fishing in specific areas. The level and species you fish is dependent on the fishing rod used. It is faster to get a Level 40 Dragonair to evolve into a Dragonite, but you can capture a Level 20 Dratini with much lower-level Pokemon.

In the fractal CDI thread, Chris said he told the designer team about the idea of adding dragonite to fractals as a reward and he said they liked the idea. So it should be in the patch notes but not yet ingame in about a year.
