[Suggestion] Fractal Armor
First: Yes please, even if you’re not the first one to suggest this. I really like fractals and would love to see this.
I’d actually like to see an elaborate collection path to achieve it, something like the mistward armor for revenants, because I liked the incentive to do fractals and the different approach you need for some of the challenges.

I would love to see a fractal armor.
Since dungoens got their armor sets, it would only be logical to have one for fractals.
Maybe different tiers would be possible, like one with mist effects and one without.
It also should be hard to aquire, and with “hard” I do not mean expensive, just doing a lot of fractals or some challenges for it.
Maybe even make this an option of getting legendary armor outside of raiding.

I’m currently running Leyline Armor which I feel looks the most like wat a Fractal Armor would look like.
I’m using Crystal Guardian instead of Fractal greatsword because it looks a little bit better
I brought this up to the Fractals team back when I was a forum specialist, and I still think it’s very relevant now. A Fractal armor set for all weight classes is something we truly need in the game, and having it be either a legendary armor or a collection achievement to get the ascended pieces would be an incredible journey.

I don’t think that’s necessary and might actually be counter productive, because many people like to color their armor for themselves. Having parts that can’t be colored or are gold-tinted would ruin that for most color schemes.
They said in the Fractal CDI thread ages ago that they dont have the resources to dedicate to an armor for fractals. Seeing that legendary armor is taking almost 2 years of development to come out, I would have to assume thats true.

What about a silver reskin of the fractal weapons called platinum fractal weapons? Could be a good pristine sink if you price them at 100+ pristines each.

Yet when legendary armor is released those resources will be freed from there. If it takes 2 years from then on out, I’m willing to wait.
I get that such suggestions are demanding and take a lot of effort to fulfill the expectations of the playerbase. Whenever I support or propose one here I never think of “right now” but rather “Hey, that would be cool… maybe someday”

Hi Benjamin, can you briefly explain your development process for making new armour? Surely modelling up the 6 items or 12 for male vs female doesn’t take that long, even with the various scale differences of the different races? What software do you guys use to develop your design themes? I would be fascinated into hearing a bit about it and the reasons on your end why it is so time consuming.

And yet legendary armor, that is meant for a much smaller group of people, is a thing.

It’s a bit frustrating, however, how a game driven by horizontal progression and cosmetics is so underwhelming at delivering new armor sets. A full armor set is probably one of the most rewarding things you can have in a game like this, yet, Anet has so much trouble with it…

If clipping is so much of trouble, why not make Fractal Costume, as some kind of reward for fractals.
I really like costumes, most people do, the problem with costume is that all is bought with gems only which make it feel nothing rewarding to get it, even if you get with gold.

Most of GW2s population understands this and it is nice that you want to do things right, but isn’t it time you get proper armor design tools?
It was said that outfits are much easier to design and realize and that the tools to create them are better than the armor ones.
Or is it wrong?

For me personally, I’m a skin hound and outfitting characters in all the available armor sets is one of the most rewarding aspects for me as a player.
I enjoy weapon skins, but since you can’t color them the more crazy get rarely used because I don’t like clashing or looking out of character.
While I fully understand that troubleshooting armor is a time consuming process, I feel that it would be time well spent. Even if you were to go the route gone with items like the bloodstone crown and the red glowy eyes (i.e. a couple pieces that are easy to swap in) that would still be preferable to not doing any new armors and just pushing out more and more weapon skins.
I think the Anet devs are awesome, but it can be frustrating when an aspect that is very important to you seems to get overlooked because it would take too much work in relation to accomplishing other things. I don’t expect everything to be dropped simply because this is important to me. I know i’m not the only player who has a particular thing they love most about the game, but it would be nice if we got a turn as well.
I do not agree about making it legendary….I did not spent months raiding and collecting resources just to add another armor to some fractals which are far easier than raids….each game mode got his legendary part. Pvp and fractal already got a backpiece…..If you want to add new legendary armor, add it for w3 and make sure it will take months to complete the collections….or maybe add some legendary trinkets to w3 and this would be perfect…..is not ok to get fully equiped with legendary only by playing 1-2 game modes out of 5.

I’m pretty sure a lot of people would disagree. There were definitely a lot of people that made pvp backpacks well before the fractal one.
And i don’t see how existence of fractal backpack diminished the pvp legendary.
In short, you still look like a person that wants to deny something to others just to feel more special.

While I’m not a game dev, I imagine this is how it goes:
Come up with a good design which works for both genders and all races while hopefully looking good (this includes getting different ideas/brainstorming, probably pre-designing more than one armor…) once you have that, you can start designing the armor, at which point you have to get all the details right, make it fit on everyone and the daunting part of not having any clipping on any race with any armor combination in any situation whatsoever, because otherwise adjustments have to be made and everything has to be checked again in case there’s a new error. Then you need to make sure dye channels/dye behaviour is correct etc. – Not to mention that elaborate projects take more time by default.
I’m pretty sure I’m missing a bunch of steps here, but I’m sure this is roughly how it goes.

Very true. The difficulty of a legendary collection is only determined by the collection itself. And by all means: MAKE IT LOOK IMPOSSIBLE.
Of course looking at the pure activity you do,fractals ARE easier than raids. But to get the current legy armor you can do the collection by just playing a lot of raids and do some things in a cleared instance. Because the raid in itself is already difficult.
For fractals to keep up to that level of course it’s not enough to have the player kill Jade maw 100 times. One would have to do challenge modes in a similar way to the backpack.
Do it on a timer!
Do it without damaging conditions!
Do it without physical damage!
Do it with half of your max HP!
You name it! Pose me a challenge. I want to EARN this armor; not have it gifted to me.
Well how about a fractal outfit then? that would be pretty sweet and avoids clipping issues as a problem. can make it as difficult as neccessary can also make a gold version thats even harder to get
