Instead of immediately shouting “RAWR RAWR NERF”

Why don’t people ask for suggestions or tips on how they managed to get past a certain boss, in this case SSS

As simple as spread out, stay at max range, run when he starts moving towards you, cripples/slows/imms. Don’t get hit and it’s a very simple fight.

And no, this guy is not one of the worse, not by far.

the easiest way i deal with him is circle strafe at very close range, i walk out of his charged shot every time. In other word i hold “e” (and hold right mouse click for camera and player control) and have 1,1,1 go on repeat. Not too bad.

Seamus is not really that hard at all.

More bosses should be like Triple S.

To me, a lot of the other bosses are not nearly as engaging- and they should be at least on SSS level.

And as a warrior, you can carry a rifle or bow ranged weapon and switch out for the fight. Cannot be bothered to press `?

I’ll tell “melee characters” to expand their weapon selection in that case. It’s not like he randomly appears on top of the party and you have to make do with whatever you were using last encounter.

That’s pretty much the entire point of the fight though and the entire “Gimmick” that the rest of your team is supposed to “overcome”. If they time their Immobilizers and Knockdowns just right (instead of SPAMMING THEM ON RECHARGE like most facerollers tend to do), they will actually stop him dead in his tracks right after his first buck shot knocks YOU back. He’s a complete joke otherwise if your whole team can rotate Stability Boons on eachother. …oh and there’s also…

Saffron Bread <— reduces incoming damage while knocked down.

.

All he really needs, which is what most Dungeon mobs need (atleast on path1 but not on the butler path which is already too quick) is less Hitpoints so that he’s not just another boring timesink.

I figured out the easiest way to deal with him is to lure him into the garden where you have more space to dodge. Doesn’t sound like much but fighting in that narrow corridor makes it a lot harder.
Otherwise stunbreakers with added movement or invulnerability help, too.

I can see where people may find him difficult on their first time but with the afformentioned strategies, Sure-Shot isn’t difficult at all. Playing on my guardian or thief, just circle strafe him and he’ll miss everytime. Bringing a stun break also helps out on this.

With range he shouldn’t even be aggroing on you – just don’t stand still and shoot. You could even stand still if your up in the bushes Once I tried bowing him with my thief and I had to pay careful attention of the positioning of the Melee’ing Guard/Warrior.

Not too difficult of a fight after you learn to recognize the pattern.

1) Have a stun breaker
2) The entire animation sequence is: he raises his gun (the direction he shots will be locked at this point), hold for a fraction of a second, and shoots. If you happen to be in front of him you have plenty of time to dodge away
3) spread out, at most only 1 person should be directly in front of him, or get shot at

Agree with the one of the posts above, should ask for advice instead of asking for nerf, because it isn’t really necessary.

Melee character here, I don’t have that much trouble with him.

Topic at hand: how about asking for tips instead of immediately crying for a nerf? He’s truly not that hard. People run that dungeon daily so clearly the issue is with you, and not him.

As said, just keep circle-strafing on melee and you never die. Even better if you control its direction away from teammates.

Very easy.
One guy goes melee and runs around him endlessly (while hitting him).
The others dps the boss from a safe distance (enough so he doesn’t change his target).

Also, if you’re doing the Asura path, you can simply rush for the golem part behind him, destroy it and escape by the door to the garden that just opened.

issues with sure-shot seamus:

*his bullets don’t count as projectiles
*he is able to stunlock a player to death, as he can fire his 3s knockdown shot before the previous knockdown has ended, making him OP by definition.

just add one more second of cooldown between his spreadshot knockdowns and he’d be just fine. and making his projectile attacks (read: the kitten knockdown spreadshot) actually count as projectiles would be a great plus. after all, we were promised that dungeons would play by the same rules as the rest of the game, and “oh his bullets can’t be blocked or reflected like everyone else’s” is definitely a case of “playing by different rules”.

Umm… he’s hilariously easy in melee. I craft leveled my elementalist up to level 40ish and took her into CM once she hit 45 and spent the entire fight sitting on him with double daggers.

Before he fires, he always stares in the direction he is going to fire in for about a second. That gives you ample time to sidestrafe it (or even just run through him). Just bring a stun breaker for just in case you get hit every so often. He’s really very simple and easy.

Edit: Although yes, you should be able to reflect his shotgun blasts. It’s just inconsistent with what you’d expect and there’s no reason for it not to be allowed to be reflected.

But seriously, if a super mega ultra squishy undergeared level 46 melee d/d elementalist that didn’t even have an elite skill unlocked yet could do it without dying, you should be able to.

Hmm Im going to have to give this fight another go, I think the problem I always had is that I didn’t pay close enough attention to his animations, the corridor does make it pretty tricky to circle strafe though.

If you’re fighting him in the corridor, you’re making it harder on yourself than need be. Spammable penetrating cone shaped AoE + narrow corridor = headache waiting to happen. On that path, after you get Traffa to blow up all of the Asuran tech, a door opens to the outside. You can either drag the boss out and fight him there where there’s more room, or just opt to skip him completely by continuing off the to the part of the dungeon, which will cause the boss to leash back at some point.

Also, he usually double fires on a target before switching usually unless he gets interrupted. As in, if he aggros person X, then aggros person Y, he’ll aim at X, fire, aim at X’s new position, fire, then aim at Y, fire, aim at Y’s new position, fire, and then choose a new person to aggro.

And again, bring a stun breaker just in case you accidentally get caught by a knockdown. If he’s double firing on you and he knocked you down with the first shot, stun break, roll dodge the second shot, and get your rhythm back up.

The first time i did this boss was with another mesmer in party (total 2). We took it out and he spend all the fight running from clone to clone, it was hilarious tbh. He never touched any1.
And yes, i was able to reflect his gunshoot blast a couple of times, the dmg you do its amazing, but idk why i couldt reflect it all the times. I probably need more practice If i remember right i reflected it with temporal courtain, not feedback buble, maybe he fires at too close range and his targuet its also bubled?? I havent run this dungeon in a while so my memory might be messing with me also :P

Pro tip : He got a cast time on his “shotgun”.
Pro tip 2 : You loose health from getting hit.

His aoe knockdown is like Blunderbuss and is more of an explosion rather than a projectile. The projectiles he shoots before taking out the rifle above 80% are reflectible though but after that he just spams the one skill. You can safely melee him by circle strafing though and just not being in front of him when he does it or just stay beyond ~600 range. Dunno why people cry about such an easily countered mechanic.

Quasi-elitist dungeoneer and missing Gw1 GvGs greatly.

Do the butler path. Now, the door that brings you into the cellar after you defeat Seamus is the exact same door that will take you out of the basement in the asura path when you find all the golem parts. Seamus stands in that same room with the rifle and net turrets.

Irritating but hardly difficult. Once took him down with two people below level 45 (including myself on a ranger at level 41). He doesn’t need a nerf.

the corridor does make it pretty tricky to circle strafe though.

Never ever fight him in the corridor in Path1… dodge/refect the net-turrets (or snipe them from long range) and just keep running out the side door. If you want to fight him, fight him outside there in front of the Toolshed.
