Just 2 cents from an average, relatively new player.

In the last week, I’ve been doing the 50+ as normal, and even when it’s swampland, everyone in the pugs is “open” rather than the Tree (I ask just out of curiosity). So the general mentality, certainly from the EU server I play on, is mostly cool

I don’t understand why people feel they need to stick their nose in how other people play. If you don’t like how people do things in your party, find another group. People spend too much time concerned about others.

I want one of the legit player t-shirts too. Is there a monthly fee, or is conforming to the acceptable enough?

Welp, for what it’s worth this is slowly becoming a non issue. People are learning how to beat the fight legit and most of the groups I joined over the last few days just fight him in the open.

I’ve been pugging the entire week doing no tree mossmans, fills instantly and pugs do it just fine.

I wish they’d focus manpower on adding new fracs or fixing boring instabilities rather than trying to fix yet another mossman exploit.

And you don’t see the problem with that? The point is (whether in a pug or any other group) to beat the encounter. There should be no safety nets.

Nope. I play for (1) loot and (2) camaraderie. To be perfectly honest, the wisp run is about as much excitement as I need from that entire instance.

You can get better loot and camaraderie in a chest farming session in SW.

It seems like they will always give you the same reasoning for why exploits are okay

Level 51-80 ya.

Level 81-100 pure garbage.

I don’t mean the reward is garbage, but there is just no reason to do those level. The instability are frustrating and badly done, the mobs are just HP sponge making them even longer, and there is no reason to do them since you gonna get the reward from level 51-80 anyway.

I agree. Many instabilities are poorly designed, and I’ve talked with the Fractals team about that. I’ve also talked to them about adding another daily to the 76+ range to further encourage those higher levels. I can’t say what they’ll do with that information, but I would expect some more change there later in the year when we get new Fractal(s).

Here’s a request – remove the random parts of instabilities- nobody likes random thrown in their game.
It’s the opposite of skilled play. Who ever thought that enemies applying random conditions at random times could be a good thing?

If here they fall they shall live on when ever you cry “For Ascalon!”

People doesnt seem to be using the tree anymore, Ive noticed. Had a break from fractals, and have recently started doing the champion dailies again. Only had to leave a single scrub group on 77, but almost all manage to do it successfully as intended.

Yup, can confirm the last few comments, tree is definitely gone lately..
Having much more fun now, being able to finally use my Phantasms without getting “Obstructed” all the time!

oh hey btw guys if you bring a condi reaper to your swamps, you can just facetank mossman. it doesnt matter how bad your comrades are! minions eat axes all day! so grab dat viper horror build you made for raiding and change up some utilities and use cheaper food and chill while you mostly autoattack! no more tree! no more crying about fears! (did i mention minions eat your condis?)

Yes, somehow the public domain is treating use of the tree as being a terrible player, so lots of pubs are doing it as intended to show how super good they are at the game. Pretty cool, though definitely surprising. At this point I’ve given up on pubbing it and am just doing it as intended (and much faster) with my guild. It has definitely improved my experience vastly.

Regardless, I pinged ANet again on this last night and emphasized the importance of fixing exploits like this sooner rather than later. Hopefully it pushed them down the path of resolving it rapidly.

It’s happened a couple of times where my health is fine, and then I just drop dead :/ It’s not AR – or shouldn’t be, as I’m running 137 in a 77 zone so is it a random condition from Mossman or Boom what’s doing this?

I’m not getting that to occur. You can try removing all your ascended gear and adding it back on, sounds like you’re being hit with agony. Or you could turn on your combat log for incoming damage. That will let you know what is killing you.

I’ve read dozens of threads here and on Reddit where people have cried out for ages for exploits to be fixed rapidly, and that sentiment has been echoed in-game to me by literally hundreds of players.

Also, just so we’re clear, fixing an exploit and moving it through QA ASAP isn’t going to push back new Fractals any. You’re not going to lose out on new Fractals this year because they decided to fix an exploit two months earlier than they otherwise might’ve.

My point wasn’t the quantity in which you read, it was the way you stated that it was a higher priority from the player base. There’s also this handy thing humans do called selective bias. You could be drawn more into reading about exploits, because you are more involved in reporting them and getting status updates, than acknowledging the rather large outcry even if its not as loud for new content.

So if you got offended by that, sorry.

Did fractals 67,77 yesterday and faced mossman and in lvl 67 1 gut an up the tree, 4 of use said well why not, do we stood there dps’ed a bit and the 4 ppl who moved up said well the DPS is lower let’s go down, we all jumped off, and killed it in field, the guy who initiated move to the tree died 3 times and got downed at least 5 times more… the remining players killed him, we started 77 got to mossman and started infield again, the treeman raged: we should be stacking in the tree and consequently ragequit, we killed him 4 man on 77 faster then on 67 with part in the tree. The tree is a serious loss of DPS with projectiles and in some cases melee attacks not hitting due to interupted LOS and so on. It"s really really bad compard to the pole and the pole was a borefest as well…

Free your char and the rest might follow!
Don’t be parr and think so shallow….
Swiftly kill him in the open fields
with dodges, reflects and shields
And be a good player, like now and all tomorrows!!

23 lvl 80’s, 9 times map, 4ele, 4ncr, 3war, 3grd, 3rgr, 2thf, 2msm, 1eng, 1 rev.
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.

I usually just make my LFG when I do my fractals and put in the description “56 67 77 – no tree @ mossman”.

I haven’t usually had any issues killing mossman. I’ve only had one time where we wiped at the boss on 77 and some people in the party started whining and wanted to fight him on the tree. I ignored them and we killed the boss the second time. I remember saying “if you can’t kill mossman at 77, how the hell are you going to kill a raid boss?”

Do you think people who play high level fractals do it for them to be “funny?” – If I want funny I’ll join new players in whatever it is new players do.

Have no fear, “new content” has been a fairly prominent feature of my reports for as long as I’ve been a specialist.

Don’t worry, I’m definitely not offended. I just wanted to clarify that I take great pride in the fact that the forum specialist program has enabled me to improve instanced PvE for players even if they don’t acknowledge it, and that I spend a great deal of time ensuring that what actually goes into my reports is as representative of the majority of players as possible.

Of all the fights to cheeze, mossman is one of the silliest (in my opinion). Swampland is always a quick island, which is part of the reason people run it for dailies in all three tiers. It’s almost good to leave the ‘safe spot’ in, since it gives people a way to decide if someone is a good fit for a PUG.

  • Like safe & slower? Ask for people to pole it.
  • Like faster fights? Ask for people not to.

Mostly, the problem only occurs when people don’t communicate their preference ahead of time.

I really don’t get this exploiting environment on mossman. Take one tempest, overload earth regularly, make a nice five star formation around mossman and just dps. Group heal when necessary. That’s it, no need for underwater or some random poles to climb up. The key here is not to move because you can still dps when he stealths (he doesn’t move).

That’s progress. Hooray for progress!

Some people do, contrary to your belief people play games to have fun. Normally, having fun can be humorous. Unless your the type of person that doesn’t consider having fun to be sometimes humorous.
