TA F/U spiders change?
Not tried since. But its a stupid boss mechanic either way. Not pug friendly at all and just a painfully slow and frustrating boss (When ranging).

Yes it is one of the more “annoying” bosses, but when you melee the tree, it does die as fast as 2-3 min or less depending on dps. But if that fails, you can always go back and range. But usually we just clear the front and start ranging single target, but today all the spiders were being aggroed in that back. Both f/u instances I’ve been in today. It was just really weird. I’m just curious if they implemented a change. Like this path wasn’t annoying already, now we have to deal with all the spiders in the back? Sigh.
They changed this today? So what’s the solution? I noticed they changed up a part in hotw Part 1 without saying anything too.

Ok so I just went on ahead with a bunch of random pugs, their dps was terrible.

I figured, it doesn’t take critical hits or damage (correct me if I’m wrong), so I put on a PVT set.
Kite spiders around, pop invulnerability, projectile stoppers when you run into kitten. DPS as you run. Slow and boring but at least you can finish it lol.

Has anyone done it with a guild? I pugged the F/U like I usually do and didn’t notice anything out of the ordinary. I don’t think anything’s changed or if anything did change, it’s probably a symptom of a change to some skill or other rather than the dungeon itself.
Welp.. I did this path again with my static TA group…and its utter bullkitten.
After a while of not visiting TA i just tried it with a PUG.
And yeah.. Unlimited amount of spiders spawning and when trying to attack the tree from range, ALL spiders are getting aggroed.
Seriously, this can’t be intended.

Came accross this issue today, some information as to whether this is intended or not would be appreciated.
We even did it with guards reflections, but SOR has a limited of projectiles that can be absorbed around 20 or something. So its absolutely useless. Im not sure how you can successfully kill this boss. We even kited the boss with 2 guards and we could only get him down to 30% until we were both rooted. Any tips or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I’m not sure about guard but on my ele, because I have so much condi rem it was doable, along with a signet+ run speed and swiftness from attune swaps, with the kite around the tree thing. But that is no way that a dungeon should be done. It’s shameful.

Yep. Soloing TA on my ele from now on, seeing as pugs cant do it.

I ran the F/U path last night(first time in over a month) and the amount of spiders was impractical. I thought it was a glitch, so we ran it again from the start. Same result. Too many spiders at a time and infinite spawns of them. Is this how its SUPPOSED to be now?

Yes..infinite spider spawn is the way currently F/U is unfortunately.

This is not doable. not even with guild runs. Ele/guard/Mesmer/ranger/necro… We could not finish it. No matter who ran around kiting the spiders no matter how far we were from the tree.
It was NOT DOABLE. Anet fix this.
The spawns weren’t infinite, before — they would eventually stop. Has this changed, too?

They broke it. Spiders spawned infinitely.
What we did is we grabbed some staff eles, with speed signet, and just kited spiders around, did Ether Renewal for condi removal, and just laid down chill/cripple/stun fields while throwing aoe at the boss.
This kitten can’t be done, second time I try this with PUG and second time we are forced to leave the kittening dungeon because you can’t even get to the tree without spawning 20 spiders. And why aren’t devs answering anything in this kittening forum?

Just another voice to this seemingly untested change. I think Anet’s resources are all focused on trying to cook up more ways to milk the gem store…

I think this changes is something you can live with if they reduced the boss’s HP. The problem is how long you need to live through these huge groups of condition happy, hardhitting spiders before the boss is down.
Reduce amount of spiders to give the average party a time window to hit the boss between mob respawns imo. Respawns should also take longer.

They should perhaps reduce the groups a bit, but for once it’s nice to see an encounter in an explorable where you just can’t sit and melee the boss to death.

True, I’m just so used to killing them XD. Do they drop loot? I don’t even recall. I think if they’re not dropping loot then that’s most likely. I guess I just assumed the idea was (with such a redic amount of spiders) that you needed to kill em off. Atm I can only kite them on my ele while the dead team watch me kill the tree which is just painful, the other classes have trouble keeping up, either due to speed or lack of condi rem so I figured the spiders just need to die lol.

Did it last saturday with a group of 2 mesmers, 2 necro and 1 guard, Fight took 25 minutes but we kill it, long with every fecking spider that spawned.. don’t ask how we managed to do it.. we had at times only 1 or 2 people max on tree, and often enough all were on the spiders to get some breathing..

Just did this with a pug of 2 guardian, 1 engineer, 1 mesmer and 1 ranger. Alot more spiders spawn now, and it seems that whenever a wave is killed off, another wave spawns. Guardian alternate wall of reflection and shield of absorption while 1 person dps the boss. Barely doable.
Upon reflection, I think maybe we can keep the last spider or 2 alive so that the next wave will not trigger. Also, are the spider spawn infinite now? Use to be that they stop spawning after awhile.

Our group was 2 ele, guardian, warrior, and mesmer.
Warrior was dead most of the time.
Tried this twice over the weekend. First time, we kept wiping but eventually came up with a strategy. Unfortunately, we had been at it so long and the party leader had to go.
Tried it again yesterday and started off about the same. Switched to the strategy we learned the day before and we got it after a couple tries. Only thing that seems to work is have 1 or 2 kite the enitre mob of spiders around the tree while the others DPS the tree. It is slow, painful, and gruelsome. Too many spiders and too much HP on the boss. Fix one or the other.
For now, I would suggest trying to have someone kite the entire mob of spiders while the rest DPS.

And yet within the chaos of this thread some people go and state inane things like “you can’t sit and melee the boss to death”. I am also amazed at the thought that groups with 2 mesmer, 1 guard, or 2 guard can’t deal with this. 2 mesmers can literally chain reflect one after the other so even if you have low dps you still shouldn’t have trouble with that boss.
Zenith also put emphasis on how his one warrior died in a group that had 2 ele, 1 mes and 1 guard. I really got to wonder how bad the warrior was, and how bad the rest of the group were too, for such a thing to happen. Because his group composition was nearly identical to ours save for 1 warrior. (our group : 2 war, 1 ele, 1 mes, 1 guard)
Easy. The guardian didn’t run shield, and the mesmer was greatsword/staff. It was a group with 2 pugs and nobody wanted to sit in melee.
We began the usual pug ranged strategy, and upon constantly wiping spiders we realized they wouldn’t stop spawning, and unlike in your video where we saw a minimal spawn of spiders, the spawn rate for us easily had us dealing with 2-3 groups of them, when wall was down.
So, yeah, you can’t sit in melee for this boss, when the warrior was greatsword/rifle, and when you don’t use something as obviously broken as a guardian spirit shield with the trait for extra duration.
The group comp actually started differently from you. I felt like being a disgraceful creature and bringing my necromancer, and then I switched to ele and 2 of us eles just kited ther spiders while hitting the boss as the other people were dead.

And they aren’t made for kittens who don’t adapt their utility bar for the fight too. Your guardian is not.. running shield of the avenger ? mesmer.. doesn’t run focus? it’s time for a kick.
This has always amazed me… The fact that some people simply refuse to change weapons according to situations and then complain it’s too hard/not doable…
Not to mention, the damage between a full zerk warrior and a PVT warrior is a whopping 0 because the only thing that matters on the boss (like Nikaido already pointed out) is power. Crit doesn’t hit, so doesn’t do extra damage either.
The only difference you might get is people not using Might stacks or stacking Bloodlust, but that’s it.
This is one the only bosses in game where you’re ‘better’ off running PVT gear and PVT will actually give you more survivability.
