It’s the chain I beat you with until you
recognize my command!”
So we did a pug group for TA forward, after the newest patch today (6/18) and had a kitten of a time on the tree with the vets. Either we had low DPS, and couldn’t keep the vets down OR the vets got buffed. Stacking at back of tree got us wiped QUICK, several times. Tried to range and got wiped quickly as well due to vets. Eventually we had to kite vets, and target tree to have any effect at all. I think it was partially due to group composition, (2 warriors, mid/high to high DPS, 2 necros, suspect 1 or both were condi builds, and a mesmer, not sure what build, but using GS). The players weren’t bad, just bad builds. Normally this boss isn’t hard at all. Anyone else have any issues with this boss post patch? I think the vets were acting more aggressive, and hit A LOT harder than normal, and I swear I saw 1 vet go from almost dead to full health instantly (although it could have been just another spawn…)
Any thoughts? Or did our group just suck badly?
Just did it a few hours ago with no issues at all. They were probably using masterwork clerics gear or something.
group Comp might have a little to do with it but it should not be that bad.
I may just be out of it, but every time i have done that tree i just ignored the Veteran Mossheart/spirit tree/things… and focus all on the Nightmare tree. Moving around as needed to avoid the knock backs etc.
I am not aware of any buff to them but then again i have not run the path in the last couple of days.
Edit:
Seems its still the same. So yes it might just be a lack of group synergy and focus on the tree. Ignore the vets barring avoiding there knock backs etc. and focus your damage on the tree.
more than likely…just thought I would check it out and see if anyone else had any issues. Thanks!
Blinds are your friends. Your group likely didn’t use any.
Like Sins said, you are probably used to have classes that can keep the vets blinded in your pug groups, like guardians. I always run TA foward with my guardian so i can keep blinds and aegis up for most of the fight, and doing the skip before that tunnel without a guardian in the group can be really difficult depending on the pug.
I usually never get blinds of any sort so I just go a few steps back, pull them to me and kill them off.
Get a thief (or any other class with perma-blind abilities) and stack on eachother.
When they are perma-blinded its just as easy as autoattack (even solo!)
Your group had low cleave dps, no blinds, no aegis, no group stability. And you probably didnt bother to dodge any of the vets attacks.

Oh I totally agree. I figured that was the case. As far as dodges, I thought the group as a whole did fairly well, but even after so many dodges, you can still get caught with the imobilize and get downed fairly quickly.
