Soooo can we finally agree that being targeted by the Jade Maw laser while downed is a terrible idea and needs to be changed?

Nah.

No change needed at all. It’s a matter of “git gud”.

Without that possibility, it would be almost impossible to die in that encounter. And what happens if all 5 people are downed at the same time? Would the boss just stop attacking?

I don’t think that would be good in what is intended to be one of the end encounters of a fractal experience.

There is plenty of time for your teammates to revive you if you go down. If they can’t revive you in time then either you are out of position, they are out of position, or they are not trying to res you. If you do go full dead, it’s still pretty easy to revive. Just have your teammates pick up crystals so they don’t die while reviving and pick up the full dead person. Trying to get up a downed person before the next laser is one of the only times I actually feel pressure in that fight.

As a side note, this is a good time to let anyone who doesn’t know about the timing to dodge his death laserbeam. You get a skull above your head when you’re the target. If you dodge right when the skull disappears then you will evade the attack.

I can’t agree, no. I think it increases the risks appropriately for a boss fight. A good team can rez the downed in time or recover from the unfortunate demise.

Why do you think it’s bad? Why do you think it needs to be changed?

I would argue that jade maw needs some buffing not the mobs but the actual boss it self it looks menacing but you can literally never get hit from it without even using the crystals come on anet it needs to hit the gym.

id say play mesmer but sure if you can survivewith ele go ahead most of the eles i play with tent to be dead most of the time

If anything, they need to nerf the ability to dodge the jade maw skull beam attack.
