Id be curious to see which is faster seeing as warrior wont be able to get might and fury with the no utility rule.
I was thinking necro too. I normally use stability for the transformation, necro is the best class to get this with the no utility rule.
But you guys seem to be planning on skipping the transformations altogether. I know some mob can be interrupted despite defiant (Ice ele’s heal in fractals), this guy work the same way? or you guys just going to fight the defiant stacks?
Edit: More food for thought. Thief with slight of hand. Would be extra effective depending on what they can steal off him.

Should be manageable to remove the defiant stacks quickly enough with warrior and necro most of the time. Im probably gonna try this this weekend anyway.
What makes you think interrupting doesn’t just put it on cooldown of 3 seconds?

If you interrupt it late enough his enrage will go on 48s cooldown.
The group challenge has been stuck for a while now. I think it is time to refresh it a little bit.
I would like the community to give me suggestions of fun, engaging and creative challenges to replace the current challenge. I will then choose one of them for a new group challenge start.
Emanuel.9781 remains the challenge master. His challenge, “Embracing the cold” will come back at a later date.

I tried it today and not sure if I’m going to do it. With just 3 weapon skills and without any utilities it is quite dull. Also without armor, utilities and proper weapon your damage is quite low. Basically it takes a long time and if you lose focus you get one shot.
I was able to get him to 75% on 4 minutes and that was with interrupting his berserks (+40% to time if you don’t unless condi-spec) and reflecting boulders for 20k hits.
This can easily take 30-45 minutes with less optimal setups.

Sorry guys. Didn’t mean to make something that would stall out this thread.
Anyway, my thought when making this was something like that of the “no merchant” challenge in resident evil 4. Take away all of the things that make the game (in this case encounter) easy to provide a challenge.
That said, that challenge had the potential to be long and drawn out too. I just didn’t want to make something “too easy” when most of the people posting in this thread lately have been [HC] and [rT] people.
Anyway, in the interest of getting this moving again, what do you guys think? Just a new challenge all together? or change the rules for this one?
If the latter, I feel like the no tranquilizer gun rule should stay as the fight really poses no challenge other wise. Perhaps that being the only rule, otherwise anything goes?
Yeah I think the biggest issue is no armour rules just draw out fights for too long and it becomes rather boring. The other rules you set were fine imo.
Its already a very boring fight solo with no gimping.
Or what about the reverse: no armor but freedom of weapons/skills?
Adding armor lets you make some mistakes as well as boosts offensive stats.
Adding Weapons/skills would probably allow every class to interrupt the berserker state nearly every time as boost offense in there own way.
You can always ban getting hit
Well, I’m honestly most interested in getting this thing moving again and would be fine with any of them. So in the spirit of GW2, lets say…. Play how you want?

- no armor → any thing else goes
- original rules → but you can wear armor

Just to make sure, being hit by the Inquest tamers doesn’t count as a fail right ? And if I get burned but not hit by the abomination in berserker phase, is it still legit ?
Also, by using trinkets + utilities, killing it goes fairly fast, got him to 60% in about 2 min of playing safe. Mostly failed due to deaggroing (in order to avoid inquests) then getting hit for 10K by the tamers while pursuing it.
Would you think killing it in the room would be safer or quicker than getting him near the helicopter ?
Maybe it could be done with bowls of fire Salsa to rally on tamers if need be ?

Eh, I just kind of went with what Wethospu said. But probably inquest are fine, berserker ones aren’t. But that would be harder to monitor.
In any case if you fight him just south of the rock pillars the inquest don’t aggro and he doesn’t leash (unless they’ve changed the leash distance this last patch) so the inquest shouldn’t be an issue.
That all said, I’m still most interested in seeing this progress, so I’m just about cool with saying just solo the thing without tranquilizers and lets move on.

As everybody could notice the project died since mods unstickied the thread.
The in-game guild has been disbanded.
We’ve had some great contestants and the competition was very entertaining.
Hopefully sometime in the future we will have an opportunity to start the Ascension Project again!
