There’s a lot of posts regarding Bjarl being bugged.
I’m not a great storyteller, so you can skim to the end for the summary.
I’ve had the greatest honor, to take down Bjarl, with four guildies while this bug is up.
We got stopped on fractal 2 twice today during crashes. We decided to get something done today.
ANet launches Monday patch as we enter CoE. np. It’s a dungeon. Should take an hr or two tops. ANet is generous enough to give us three hours. Then we run into Bjarl.
Ran around confused until someone decided to wiki. 1hr 45min to finish dungeon. And so we said to heck with it. We’re gonna get something out of today. Condition dmg is armor ignoring, so it’s likely going to have the largest impact. We certainly kittened ourselves not knowing we needed to spec for condition damage. We scraped together all the condition damage we could muster, and just unleashed. Every time the system message comes up to warn us, we’re doing visual checks on his health bar to calculate if this is feasible. Sometimes, it felt like the bar didn’t move. Other times, after a really nice time warp, it was dropping like mad (1/10th?) 15 min to go and we discover there’s another boss at the end. Cool.
Zerg-ressurecting, throwing ourselves with whatever DPS we have, switching tank off for more DPS. We finally strike him down, skip cutscene like no tomorrow, and as we click accept and run to the exit, we get cut off.
Did we get our tokens? Yes.
We howled and screamed over vent in celebration.
It really was amazing that a dungeon-breaking bug would cause such an intense and bonding experience with guildies; some who I know IRL. We’ve been rather upset at the lost progress all day. And I’m sure some of my other party members are still fuming over incomplete fractal runs. But I thought that this might lighten the mood for those upset about the problems we’ve seen so far.
I don’t take my gaming uber-seriously, so despite this game being buggy, I still stand by ANet. The philosophy behind the design and the intent is pure, strong, and fresh. I’ve been a long time GW1 player and I forsee another many amazing years of GW2.
