The Ruined City of Arah, Path 4 - Gold Scam
Did you bother to check prior to sending the gold that he was actually at the end? If he was and left the group, you could just finish the dungeon yourself. Anyway, report this to ANet via a support ticket. They’ll handle it.
I barely know anything about Arah, but according to another person that I invited after this scenario, the dungeon was already complete.

Well, then everybody of you should have known it because there is that tiny little door icon on the right side of the screen allowing you to leave the instance with one klick. It is always there after a dungeon has been finished. There is no excuse for a scam but honestly, if you don’t get that or at least one of you, you all should really play the game a little bit longer. I would say: lesson learned and tyi you won’t get any information about a possible punishment of this player. Disappointing but this is how it goes.
I also recommend you to run the dungeons by yourself instead of buying them. They are very easy and there is still a bunch of players teaching, helping or just running the paths for fun. All you have to do is waiting a bit in the lfg dungeon section and be active. Don’t just wait for an lfg to show up, advertise your own.

There was definitely no door icon, we got to the part where you kill 4 beasts and bring fire orbs to torches? But most of the loot was taken, I really don’t understand Arah, sorry. You’re absolutely right though.

He then skipped the first bosses via an exploit and killed some later ones. According to the chat I would rather assert that he left the instance before killing the last boss. The best solutions would have been to ask for help in the lfg and someone would have joined. Or ask a friend that knows about Arah.

Thank you for your response, I really appreciate it.
I did do LFG asking for help, someone came and told me that it was done, so we restarted it. I’m running path 4 right now.
It’s really a minor issue, but I just wanted to let people know of it, but thank you for your knowledge.
Knowledge is the greatest treasure.
Ah, ok then.
Good luck and have fun. Arah is always a visit worth. Imho the best dungeon Anet has ever made.

Someone in the screenshots pinged the Heavencrystal waypoint, which unlocks after you kill the Bloodstone Shard if I remember correctly, so the instance was already finished.
I guess its smart not to buy paths before you’ve finished them yourself at least once in the future, so stuff like this can’t happen

Oh alright, that clarifies some.
Yeah I did not want to spend 6 gold on the path, but I felt pressured to do so since it seemed like everyone had already paid. I didn’t want to leave for some reason (I guess I should have).
But that’s okay, the money is not that much, I just wanted to let people know of these situations, even if it may already be known.
If you join an instance after it is already completed then you will not get the door icon for leaving the instance. You cannot tell if this guy exploited it that way.

Unfortunately things like this have been around for ages, there was 1 specific guy that kicked buyers from paths after they payed, and even kicked other sellers from their instance and sold it for over a year.
People reported him with screenshots and even videos of evidence and he never got banned.
May I ask why you left every name uncensored in the screenshots, except for the name of the scammer himself?
I get that you don’t want to risk a forum ban for showing names, but if you show the other names too you might as well leave it completely blank, or at least a part of the name, so people can see who they have to watch out for

Wow, never banned? That’s crazy.
I’m not familiar with the forum rules here, it’s my first post. Am I allowed to show names? Am I not? I wasn’t sure, but I didn’t want to send a witch hunt.
If I am allowed to, then I’ll just display the screenshot uncensored.

I think the forum rules say you can’t make personal attacks against someone, but since this guy scammed you, and showing his name will only prevent other people from being scammed, I honestly don’t see a problem with it
Just report for scamming. You could also make a ticket if you want with all the info you have.

No, it already unlocks after killing the 4 risen around the shard and the cutscene so that the boss is attackable. You can then retreat and wait for others to catch up via waypoint.

Really? I coul swear I had this several times when friends of mine were doing AC and we were chilling around to explore some stuff, maybe it is just too long ago.

It is not worth it, I mean, they are not worth it. There are always some kind of these ppl.

You’re right, it doesn’t bother me. I just had to post it to prove myself. There will be some people who think I’m lying…
Thank you for your words of wisdom. May Kormir enlighten you.
