The Time of Day is Important When Running in Pug Groups
Funny, i just came to this conclusion this week. Very true.
Since you play also before 6 pm we know now to which group you belong to
There’s no such pattern for me. I’ve successfully done different dungeons before and after this time, wiped at the evening and doing all 3 paths very fast before dinner.
LOL, I know, I know. I opened myself up for admitting that I will play earlier, but seriously. How come ALL the wipes I have had are before this time, and I have NEVER wiped later? I have run AC enough to know how to do it properly, efficiently and be kick kitten at it. With a good group.
Heck during the day, I have run into people who have never done it, and simply will not listen to how to do it and I don’t think I am an overbearing “general” jerk type. Just tell them how to do it, which should be obvious I know how, since I am sporting the greatsword (yes I am sadly a warrior), the helmet, shoulders and boots.
I’m just sticking with getting 100% on my map during the day….. Eff the PUG groups during that time.
Edit:
I am not claiming to be some fantastic player, I consider myself just very average at this, it is just that the really good players/leaders come out after dark and that the really terrible, selfish and unskilled players are out during the day. It is just something weird that I have noticed.

Maybe you should stop relying on warriors and thieves to heal in the first place.
The magical time I found for me is around midnight eastern. However I’m glad that more and more people are figuring out glass cannons don’t work in this game.

Glass cannons are actually optimal for most dungeons, just because otherwise stuff takes too long to die and you go down one by one till you all wipe. Any boss that spawns adds on a regular interval will also absolutely wreck any team without DPS. I do SE explore route 3 with guildies all the time and we can basically AFK the last boss while auto-attacking, but run it with pugs not specced for DPS and we just wipe constantly.
I think the one dungeon where a more balanced build would be preferable is Arah, just because everything there does enough damage to virtually one-shot even a tanky build.
Well it’s pretty clear. People have a life. School, work, personal interests, a girlfriend/boyfriend etc. So obiovsly the “top players” who know how to play log when free. Which usually is late afternoon, back from school, work etc.
This can help you to figure out the age and QI of the players around you during the day before the famous 6.
This is a videogame, a hobby for free time. Am i wrong?
It’s all depends on your timezone and what kind of the community in the server. For example, I’m at Sea of Sorrow which has the largest oceanic community. It’s really hard to get a group during daytime at the local oceanic time(e.g. EST) during weekdays. I hardly notice in the skill quality of the group though, although there are more better groups during night time on weekdays or almost all day during the weekends I can say.
In the evenings you may have more older players (i.e. ones who have jobs during the whole day), who may have the patience to learn tactics and listen to instructions. In addition, since their play time is more limited, they may actually focus on using it effectively, whereas someone who plays 10+ hours a day because they are a student or unemployed doesn’t really care if they fail one dungeon during that time.

That’s because you are supposed to dodge those effects!
The group I run with is FULL glass cannon berserker’s gear (or rampager’s gear, where appropriate), and even in Arah we easily down all the bosses. Giganticus is over in less than 3 minutes, with no running back or need to pull him to obscure locations.
I will say having traits/abilities which increase endurance regen or grant vigor is VERY helpful. As a mesmer, I use dodging actively to create clones, so having more dodges gives me the survivability I need back.
i agree with the poster above that it might be adult players with less time on their hands, like me. on weeknights i’m only on around 8-10:30 pm central time and i’ve had a similar experience as the OP.
What I’ve noticed universally, is guildmates are better than pug, no matter the time.
