The dungeons are being balanced to who?
Dungeons are targeted for robots who can dodge un-notified attacks by reading the game’s code. You know, beings that can hack long, tedious, boring encounters to make them less of a grind, eliminate bugs, or make them possible in general.
While I am vocally against the reward system of dungeons, you can dodge most things.
I think people are having problems, because they’re attempting to react to the visible circles on the ground. But by the time you see the red circle, it’s a bit too late. At that point, you do need ridiculously fast reaction speeds.
However, if you are looking at the attack animations of the enemy or boss, they will have a “tell” that will indicate which move they are doing for you to get out accordingly.
This is coming from a squishy mesmer, who uses primarily melee and has mediocre reaction time.
I can dodge and prolong a fight all day. I am really honestly interested in who the devs are working to balance it around. We saw a big change today and now its not really the new low levels that are having issues. When the lvl 80s who run CM are complaining of the buffs to the mobs inside it tells me that a group of lvl 40’s are really gonna have issues with it.
One thing I can say is this game has plenty of room for personal player skill but I just ran AC with a group of 30s and the difference between that and having a group with an 80 is laughable. When the 80 is dying before mobs go down that group of 30s would mark focus and kill 1 then need to run back and redo it until you can get them all down.

So basically, it’s Mike Tyson’s Punchout but every fight is against the Champ and you can’t see his “tells” most of the time because he’s covered in spell effects from the rest of your group.
I just had the same CM experience. They obviously didn’t test any of this with an appropriately geared character at the intended level.
The explorables are designed for competent, well organized groups. They arent ment to be puggable and has been stated as far back as last Nov that the dungeons were GW2 answer to raids and raiders. It makes me ecstatic that Anet isn’t caving in to the screams like other games and keeping with their design.
Want to do explorables? Get a group that works well together with a bit of coordination and get better at the game. Boom. Explores done.

No one even mentioned explorable mode in this thread. I had the same exact experience in STORY mode and I highly doubt OP is playing playing explorer mode on his first run as a lvl 30.

Yes. The level 30 dungeon is hard. Have you done the level 40 dungeon? Its an absolute joke. A lot of parts in other dungeons are absolute jokes as well. I believe this is what they are targeting with the patch.

If that’s the case, then you have a lot of work to do. Get better, instead of becoming one of the rabble that are littering these forums.
Reward system is terrible. Fix it arena net I want to be REWARDED not punished by having to run the same dungeon 65 times
If anything, some story modes are harder than explorables. I do agree there.
They’re definitely doable, but they do seem to be very poorly balanced. For example, some bosses are extremely difficult to beat and then the rest of the instance is cake. Some groups of monsters take several tries doing, and then the boss is tank and spank, so to speak.
Don’t listen to Borked. We’ve all been there. Don’t worry. Explorables are, interestingly enough, much more fun and less head-scratching to do. I say head-scratching, because that’s essentially what you do when you run into many odd spikes and dives in difficulty.

Does getting better stop NPCs from the missions from running into lava and constantly dying? I wish I was so l33t that I could fix broken coding with my awesomeness. =) Seriously though, some of the aspects of dungeons are so broken that they are either luck based or you need to suicide 50 times to get it done.
