Theory: Why they nerfed dungeon chests
Those crappy boxes are also found in the open with the champ train, which still exists, but now accross several maps.
They removed tokens from Bosses because people would kill an early easy boss and reset instance to farm tokens quickly.
They have now added a way to limit drops from a single boss/section to once a day.
I think theory they are considering re-implementing spreading tokens out throughout instance as a much more promising theory.
Though could just be an attempt to tone down ambient gold gain by people kitten-run same path over and over. Though think that would only really impact path sellers, though believe some did run CoE for chance of Lodestones.
Thank you Anet for officially removing the last part of the game that I actually still enjoyed doing.
Maybe its easier if you just remove in-game money from the game entirely seeing as you are removing or nerfing every single option there is to make in-game money.

Was this really so bad? Maybe I have absolutely no idea about the latest cash grabs, but I don’t know anyone who rushes a single boss over and over for a chest in dungeons. You should be unaffected if you just run a regular tour.
I don’t think there was every anything particularly great in the boss chests anyways; a few blues/greens/maybe a rare (for me at least).

I didnt just run first bosses, i just did entire paths over and over again.
And the greenies i put in the forge to make rares and those into exotics which i really enjoyed doing. But once again ive found something I like so Yay lets remove it.
Its kind of annoying that you can only get the lupi chest once per day. So dungeon paths which have common bosses in multiple paths are affected. So it does effect everyone.

Oh what? Wow…Didn’t realize that. Haven’t noticed :P I thought it was only something that would affect people that rush a path over and over.
Maybe that will be fixed though? It seems like a bit of an oversight/error.
My guess is that there were bots doing the same boss #1 over and over in some dungeon and our nerf is just a side effect of dealing with the bots.

Really hoping that it’s a minor bug/oversight that they will fix. This patch has been great for a lot of things but there are a few small things that could use some cleaning up. For some reason the Arah GS now shares a skin with the Arah 1H Sword :/
Then there is the issue of the item names (and more threads about problems). Perhaps they will be pushing some fixes for all of this stuff soon (and the boss chests will be included there). Like Kuru said, it was probably to stop bots (or very boring people) from killing the same boss over and over.

I believe it is bugged or something. On some runs you would get the chest reward again for the shared parts of the path. Other times you wouldn’t. Like Khloer dropped the chest for me each time for each path on one day, but the next day it would be something like 2/3. It is really weird. Maybe it has to do with the instance owner but someone would have to test that.
Don’t forget to buy gems after the loot nerfs guys. It’s good for the economy.

my theory is that they increased the chance of getting better drops from them so decreased the number of times we can open them. was it just me or were yellows coming out of those chests like crazy just before the update? by crazy I mean almost getting a yellow from one of them every run
