There’s nothing to learn , it’s like everything else , you skip trash mobs , kill boss . Stomp lupi and you’re almost done . It’s not like gw1 when you need specific crap lol . Btw thieves are becoming worthless , arenanet hates us , you better roll warrior . And you will survive more , 20k hp in zerks instead of 10k.
I was considering it, but I’m so sick of PvE and have run out of money for crafting after leveling Ele. I guess I’ll suck it up and spend a week doing it. Ugh. Thanks for the response.
Yea but seriously , you can just type arah speed run on youtube , there’s some good guides. And you craft your alts instead of dungeon lvling them? I think it took me 4-5 days to lvl up my warrior in cof to lvl 80. Crafting such a money waste lol

Gnat I think I have played with you before I will run through it with you if you want. I remember most of the paths and skips I just don’t play it often enough to say that I am really good at them.
I have a thief and warrior getting a guard to 80 pretty soon as well.

they definitely do more damage than a warrior when played well, but the lack of self buffing means warriors are often better in PUGs. also, pistol whip is less dps than autoattack on sword afaik so it’s only worth using for interrupt and a kittenty evade.
I think it’s about the same DPS to start but over time auto-attack is higher because you keep your initiative high. But with Initiative getting a buff and lower after cast you might see it used more. Who knows

But I’m pretty surry he does PvP as well . Why would you have a thief if you don’t PvP atall ? They are getting nerfed into the ground , D\P gives no more perma-stealth and S\D has no more stunbreak in inf strike . And Btw yea even in Pve they get no buff , the S\P is an auto-chain with black powder , you on’t have enough init to spam Pistol Whip .
I do some WvW on him but I made him for PvE around launch, put him on the shelf, and now I want to play a high damage class without having to level something else. I have a Guard but after playing thief for so long it’s hard to play other, slower professions.
I will likely stick with Thief, I have high hopes for the initiative change and the change to Sundering Strikes looks fun. I’ll make a warrior just to have on hand but I’m not sure how far I’ll take it. We’ll see.
Well thief is still a nice challenge compared to warrior, you can’t eat 3 hits like on a warrior. But the class has no PvP future so don’t invest too much if you WvW. Warrior is more fun because of the sustain, on a thief you’re forced to atack , reset and run away and alot of people still think that stealth= invul. I was trolling an entiere zerg for like 20 min…. That’s why they perma- nerf the class cuz of nubbies.
But for PvE sure why not it dosen’t matters what class lol, what I don’t like on thief is that there’s not enough buttons to press in PvE. Warrior has fast hands so you swap weapons back and forth on a 5 sec CD and it makes it less boring, I got so used to fast hands.

Haha I see. Well I’ve gotten pretty good with thief after giving up on Necro because… well Necro.

When I did PvP I was full zerker d/d sb and I was very successful whether it was because I was against bad players or I just outclassed them.
Thief will always be a viable option when PvPing…
lol D/D is dead since long time ago. the only Option was S/D perma-evade or D/P perma stealth. You won’t kill anybody in tpvp with D/D , thief was just poorly designed, extremly OP against nubs, but extremly weak against decent players. We are in the same boat with useless elems now GG anet.

Thieves are getting quite a few tweaks. I am not going to comment on them.
For the PvE thief however nothing really changes. in fact it actually seems to be a bit better. I run a thief all over and really enjoy it. is can and does bring a lot of things to a dungeon group table besides stealth.
After I made the jump into the damage builds and started being more active in dungeon running with the thief. I rarely use stealth at all. barring the Cloak and dagger skill. and the occasional skip in a run. they are a fun class and I have always enjoyed them.
Necromancer is also one that I run with regularly. and really enjoy. I built for damage and run. I have less utilities than a thief per say but I can still run with high damage output and be useful to my group.

We also had war of casuals going on about friends bringing in too many friends into our private overflow.
It got to the point where our faction got free-trial accounts and dual-boxed with them to queue in other people’s arena’s and afk there to sabotage the arena snatcher’s farming (only Dunwell default aggroed after the ‘nerf’ so putting in the pirate crew was perfect).
The other thief glory era:
- Skipping ahead in CoE past first alpha encounter and grabbing the golem waypoint, reliably teleport through the doors to perform CoE3in1 and using portal gun to WP the rest of the party.
Still good at:
- Easy mode CoE p1 1-4 defender
- General skipping
- CM p1, stealth dragging the asura to blow up things without having to fight trash
- Solo CoE Alphas with crystal escape on demand
- Solo Snowblind Fractal’s melt the ice wall event
- Safe lupi meleeing in PuG settings with immunity from bubbles

You can only escape the crystal with a teleport; Blink/Lightning Flash etc. Thieves are the only ones who have a teleport on demand with no CD with sword 2.
Occasionally it doesn’t work though?

I was reading around and it only works if you move further away from the crystal so if you are in the stack and you use infiltrator’s strike/shadow return while in the stack it doesn’t work from how I understand it. Then it is still finicky because steal works a good majority of the time.
