Thief stealth extremely nerfed
1) stealth is not the class mechanic of thieves, their class mechanic is steal/initiative I guess.
2) stealth is used by other classes not just thieves, mesmers only have 1 less stealth skill then thieves do, engineers also have stealth through their throw elixir s, not to mention their bomb 4 + blast finishers for an easy stealth.
3) if an ability has started to be channeled before you go into stealth it will keep hitting you as if you hadn’t gone into stealth (ex I often do this to thieves as they start to run I use magnet pull they drop a shadow refuge and run into it I pull them out and introduce their face to my prybar/grenade barrage)
4) some enemies have longer leash ranges then others so you just may have still been within the enemies agro range.

No that’s impossible , I always take my thief for CM skips and never had a problem . You must cast stealth before you get aggro obviously and even if the mob aggro you before you have time to stealth you will lose aggro immediatly after his opening strike .
And btw you should try to roll warrior , it’s a buffed thief with better mobility .
I stopped to main thief in PvE first time i saw the numbers of 100b .

I can’ tell if that line is meant as a “Common CoF Warrior PUG answer” type joke, or that is really what swayed you.

[Lg] Agatha – Dragonbrand
it has been like that since the spykit nerf
Dude , I use no more thief in PvE , people kick me immediatly when I try to join arah pug on a thief . These grubs always post ’ heavy only ’ that’s why warrior is my farmer .
That’s interesting, because I just ran Arah on my thief and had no issues, nor did my party have an issue with me.
As an asura, I do this all the time.”
Thieves are still very useful. Great party stealth, and if played right extremely high DPS. I wouldn’t refuse one from a party unless there were already 2.
They changed stealth aggro for mobs awhile ago.

Stealth does not break aggro. Getting out of the roaming area of a mob breaks aggro. You use stealth to get out of the roaming area of the mobs safely.
