Scaring new comers
Newcomers normally don´t use gw2lfg…
Some of them aren’t advertising for anything specific, just that they want to run paths. Besides,if you can’t join them, make your own. A lot of people do background checks on their party mates, but never the party maker, because they just automatically assume they know what he’s doing.
I’ve found a very high correlation between people saying “no noobs” and those people being being noobs. Or really bad players, to be more precise.

ya I mean can you blame them? even the newbie don’t want to group with newbie.
And for people pittying the newbie how many of those newbie actually bother to watch a 30 minutes dungeon video before they do it so they won’t slow the party down.
Being selfish and being genorous and helpful are both human natural. This is just how the way society works.

People that say “no noobs”, specifically using these words is pretty much a red flag for terrible communications skills.
If you know enough about a dungeon to not be a terrible player, you should be fully capable of explaining the mechanics of said dungeon to new players. There exist no such dungeon in GW2 that is either difficult to complete or difficult to explain. Barring exceptional cases, most players will be able to perform adequately after a few tries.

Yes but we’re always redirecting everyone to there
I used to do alot of dungeons. Maybe 10+ per day.
My 2 cent is how many of those newbie take their time to watch dungeon video before so they won’t slow their party down.
I watch video before I do dungeon so I won’t slow my party down. I level to 80 and gear up before I do AC so I’ll be at my fullest potential to do dungeon so I won’t slow my party down. How many people actually think that way. Most people dont’ think it that way, they just think running AC is a good and fast way to level.
This isn’t about newbie or elitist, it is just about human natural. Are people always that thoughtful of others? I dont’ think so. Being selfish is human natural.
I level to 80 and gear up before I do AC so […]
…so you can be a noob at level 80?
Watching videos is a great idea (before joining a PUG, anyway; personally I like to do every dungeon at least once without having watched any videos, but I do it with friends), but the obsession with level 80 and gear is completely misplaced.
In fact, that “WoW mentality” is precisely part of the problem with PUGs. People expect that their level or their gear will do the work for them. In reality, it makes very little difference in GW2. Your stats get scaled down to the dungeon’s level anyway, and although level 60+ players have access to better traits, sigils and runes, those don’t really make up for skill (mostly meaning awareness) and experience.
AC story mode is a level 30 dungeon, and it’s perfectly doable by a group of level 30 players (in fact, it’s doable by level 25 players – although that’s slower, due to all the glancing blows).
I never know whether to laugh or cry when I see a level 80 character with 500 AP join a party for AC story, stay completely silent (i.e., don’t mention that he’s never been there before) and then commit serial suicide by running into every group of mobs he sees, instead of asking what he should do or waiting to see how the level 30 guys (often playing on their 5th alt, or at least doing their Nth run) approach things.
I mean, he’s level 80, they’re level 30. He’s obviously “stronger”, right…?
And then you have those who ask for “level 80s only”, as if a level 79’s stats were noticeably different, or as if being level 80 somehow guarantees good gear (not that gear even matters, but even if it did, nothing prevents a level 80 character from wearing level 10 armour – and there’s no way to check).
Posting “LFM for [some low level dungeon or low Fractal level], level 80s only.” is a sure way to earn an entry in my block list. Not because of elitism; just because it shows the person in question hasn’t figured out that (s)he is playing GW2 and not WoW.

that is because they put too much effort in “rewards” and “progression” so that nice community with players helping each other have been replaced by wannabe pro dungeon speed runners….
@account if i play lvl 1 fotm i want only lvls 80…
The dungeon is lvl 80 and they say is designed for 80, but if you want can access at lower levels.
Its called respect to other players….
P.S. also lvl 80 exotics+runes/sigils makes a huge difference its not like you say…..otherwise people would write “bunker only” instead dungeoneers prefers (skilled) DPS
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
I level to 80 and gear up before I do AC so […]
…so you can be a noob at level 80?
Yes I am indeed a newbie at lvl80 on my first character. And that just show how important experience is. The first few dungeon I did, my groupmate is slowed down by my noobness.
I mean you make fun of the lvl80 noob and praise the lvl30 person on their 5th alt right? That is actually the topic here. People dont’ want to group with under geared, under level, under skilled, “or” no experienced player.

They’re getting preettyyyyy picky these days.
Why are they posting on the site looking for pugs when they don’t want any pugs. Such… can we even call these things people?

There is no rule PUG have to be complete noobs. And it is not always easy to find guildmates that want to do the same dungeon as you.
I got 4 lvl80 and there are times I do 15 dungeon path a day. You can’t expect your guildmate always want to come.

My point was that they are asking for 3 pugs when their own post said they don’t want any pug. That statement is self-contradictory.
Uh, did you see the screenshot? By being on GW2LFG in the first place they were asking for PUGs while saying they didn’t want PUGs in their additional comments. Nothing about PUGs being noobs lol.

I dont’ know. I think it is just an alternate way of saying no noob. It is just unimportant terminology people use. I’m sure most people reading it know they mean no noob.
Anyway, I’m not personally an elitist, quite honestly most of the time I’m just happy to get a fast group forming. I’m just saying I understand why people behave that way.

Haha this is the best thing I have seen on GW2LFG ever.
On a related note; I tried taking a newbie level 38 PUG to AC a few days ago, and I am never doing that again. It’s not so much the fact that he is undergeared and underleveled that matters, it’s the fact that he was oblivious to even the basics of GW2 game play such as dodging / what boons do / what combo fields are.
If someone who has a level 80 and has played for a while wanted to come on a 35 I would probably not mind at all, but this particular player was just too much of a liability to the team to want to deal with.
Devonas Rest 4 lyfe
So this is what we’ve come down to? Lets scare away all the newcomers why don’t we
people complaining about gw2lfg with posts like this make me LOL so hard that i did just put LOL in caps…
The reason i LOL SO HARD is that i’ve never once had this problem. I’ve always found a story or explorable mode within 5-10min of looking on gw2lfg.com and on my thief that im leveling ive even been doing the runs before the suggested level.
For every 1 post that is looking for something specific there are 3 that arent. Please stop complaining about a COMMUNITY feature that is amazing, works well, and is way better than the game’s system. This is not a right to have, it is a privilege provided by some very nice people.
I find it hard to believe that anyone legitimately has these problems
I’ve found a very high correlation between people saying “no noobs” and those people being being noobs. Or really bad players, to be more precise.
People asking for “no noobs” in lfg post are pretty much asking to be ignored. I don’t know who joins that rubbish…
Sadly this is the legacy we are stuck with due to wow indoctrination, i pity the fools.
Err I once saw a post for a speed run / farm with the requirements: “High DPS and acceptable grammar required”.
if I do an AC goldrun, I always ask for experienced lvl 80s.. it has nothing to do with eliteist, but with wanting to finish in a timely manner with like minded people.. sometimes I join a random pug and don’t care if we take an hour for a single path, but other times I just want to get through to make some money, without having to explain every boss or when to run and when to fight. I do like to help new players when I’m in the mood and have the time, but not every single run.
as much as people like ‘Account.9832’ may advertise skill over gear, skill alone does no damage, it usually only mitigates incoming dmg. your maximum output is still determined by your gear and traits alone.
of course, some skill is necessary, I’ve seen 80’s who never managed to dodge kohler. but what use is a lvl 40 which can dodge correctly but does so little damage its unnoticable?
for everyone claiming minimal difference from gear: let’s just try a group of lower-lvl (say between 35 and 65) alts running ac and afterwards, the same people, with their lvl 80s.. should be a fun experience.. I’d guess it takes about twice as long, if not more. if anybody (EU) is up for it, I’d be happy to join and try it out, I’ve been wondering how much of a difference it actually is for a long time.. there will still be some unaccountable difference (class choice etc), but I’m pretty sure there will be a noticeable difference – though I’d be happy to be proven wrong (then at least I’d have an argument to join 80’s groups to level my alts – right now I don’t do it as I don’t want to slow others down).
They’re getting preettyyyyy picky these days.
Who cares? If you are doing farming runs and want to do them fast you are going to request people that A. Know what they are doing. B. Have gear to make the run fast and C. are high dps and not in a magic find set or some nonsense.
Now tell me why so many people are making such a big deal out of something that has ZERO to do with you.
For every 1 bad LFG you have pointed out ive seen several normal/ good ones with no requirement. Stop focusing on what other people are doing. Its not like a newbie goes to gw2lfg.com and says omg I cant join any of these groups they are all elitests! No they find a group just fine…. or better yet make their own posting gasp!
Your all being a bunch of drama queens over something that has no effect on you. If someone is creating a group they can add whoever the hell they want to add. And its their right to. Don’t like it? Don’t join their group, join someone elses or make your own listing thats nice and full of rainbows and sunshine and will take anyone regardless of their gear experience or playstyle…. because that is YOUR choice, no one is raging on the forums about you accepting every player that wants to go now are they?
I never know whether to laugh or cry when I see a level 80 character with 500 AP join a party for AC story, stay completely silent (i.e., don’t mention that he’s never been there before) and then commit serial suicide by running into every group of mobs he sees, instead of asking what he should do or waiting to see how the level 30 guys (often playing on their 5th alt, or at least doing their Nth run) approach things.
I don’t see that as a problem. It sounds like a great way to learn what sort of things the enemies in that dungeon can do to you. Some people like to figure things out on their own.
People actually check Achievement Points? That seems extremely silly. I have 4,481 but how good do you think I am at running dungeons?

Hi everyone,
Even though we know the community uses gw2lfg a lot, this is not the appropriate place to complain about the behaviour of the people who use it. We understand the frustration that the so called “elitist” attitudes can cause but we have to close this thread.
Thanks for your understanding.
