Top classes for fractals?
Currently what are the top classes for fractals? Confused on what character I should gear out next.
well the class u enjoy the most XD all can be helpful , after hot all classes are ok for dungeons and fractals, only very afew lame people ask for +x AP and x y z class,
but in my opinion mybe mesmers are nice for groups (chronomancers) and warrirors too for banner and stuff like this, but play with the class u r good at or the class u like the most
i love all classes, my main right now is a guardian looking for the second one. I just want to pick the “best” as in the class that does the most damage.

About GW2, it’s rare for something to always be the best in something. Because Anet, nerfs the best or buffs the worse. So you can choose something that is the best right now but it won’t always be the best. Instead, choose something that you enjoy and is viable. What is viable? Currently, all the classes are viable in fractals because fractals are varied. There are some classes that are better suited to particular fractals but that does not mean the others are not viable at all.
Ele/Tempest is considered as one of the best classes since years.

well best class doesnt mean highest dps and ofc doesnt mean highest self dps but if u aiming for self dps i think ele and engi are ok
The best classes are the ones you stay alive on with the glassiest setup you can manage, when considering DPS, but you’ll need more then DPS alone:
- For some people this means necro or warrior
- some people play revenant, engi, ranger or mesmer and
- some people really dig guardian, thief and elementalist
- (or their elite specs)
TBH it really doesn’t matter in most cases as long as:
- you have a PS EA warrior
(other usefull things:) chrono and boon support herald is nice,
in some cases druid, guard, ventari herald or water tempest can heal without boons.
DPS: still for ele, burnzerk, condi engi and other metabattle specs. - you have -sufficient- people ressing if needed
- people use boons if possible (see #4 as well) and else you have someone spamming plain heals, not using regen.
- you do not have 5 ppl only focussing on DPS rotations as this tends to go worng in high level fractals as your health tends to run out or you die of condi spam or your booners buff the enmies so much they start oneshotting ppl. (Boon thieves?)
- In case of boon thieves a sword mesmer or a scepter necro will be of great use debuffing enemies, making sure you will either kill a bit faster or 2 convert all thier buffs to debuffs bringing the pain through stolen sustain.
This leaves you completely free to choose, and tbh I do not really care.
Just make sure you have sufficient AR.
I run
- S/A & LB ranger/druid (have 2 staves if needed) (zealot/zerk)
- S/T & LB Burnzerk (viper/sinister)
- Sc/D & Staff Hybrid Reaper (viper/sinister)
- GS & ? PS/EA zerk (zerk)
- Staff DPS tempest (fire/water/tempest) (zerk)
- M/F & Hammer (or Staff) Boon/Tank Heal guardian (minstrel/clerics)
Just make sure you have a ranged option available if you choose a melee only build, as not all bosses/ fractals are purely melee-able imho.
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.

Any class you can play well. All classes are good for it.
|Seasonic S12G 650W|Win10 Pro X64| Corsair Spec 03 Case|
I always had fast runs with the following (sub-)classes:
- Berserker
- Temepst
- Engineer/Scrapper
- Daredevil
- Herald
That said, the following are absolutely great support which is pretty useful from 51+, but that’s just my opinion:
- Druid when played well (mellee Sword/Axe and LB with spotter, frost spirit and Grace of the Land trait)
- Chronomancer
Choose whatever you want. You can’t do something wrong if you go for zerk heavy. Always needed.
‘would of been’ —> wrong
A chronomancer will provide the largest boost to group DPS so having one of them on your team is a huge help. You’ll also want a Herald for the +50% boon dur.
Next would be a warrior for the might stacking.
The rest can just be whatever dps present themselves..Although a Druid will make the high level swamp fractals far easier because they can essentially outheal the damage you take.
Don’t forget that the druid also helps boost party DPS by about 30% (according to the Storm Crow [SC] guys). It’s extremely underestimated and many ppl don’t know.

every class is good in fractals, you just have to make sure the player controlling it isnt an idiot… and unfortunately simply being high level is no longer a good check for that the way it used to be.
play what interests you.
head here to discuss wvw without fear of infractions
any class can be good at fractals. my friends and i have our “dream team” that we do up to 100s with and its a good set. herald, tempest, chronomancer, druid/second herald, and engi
well best class doesnt mean highest dps and ofc doesnt mean highest self dps but if u aiming for self dps i think ele and engi are ok
This goes for all aspects of the game, the best doesn’t necessarily need to be anything in the highest like you said. It can even be how it plays in a group…
I’ve seen some people recommend a friend of mine play a class that I find weak, before the buffs, Thief. Not for venom share at first, though that came after. But cause he could do things that none of us could do cause we didn’t know how to time the movements and skills as accurately. Yet all he played was thief so he had gotten really good at it. Sadly he never got HoT and since left the game
So as everyone said, Play what you like the most and what you are the most good at. no matter the game mode. Few people may complain, but as long as you’re not super glass and getting hurt a lot, no one really cares. The beauty of not having any DPS meters in the game for calculating party dps.
- Staff DPS tempest (fire/water/tempest) (zerk)
Don’t really see the point to use water instead of air. Air is >>>>> water and you loose too much dps without it as a zerk tempest.

Chrono + ps war with fried dumplings will cover almost all of your buffs, grab a condi druid and 2 condi engis and you can roll through all of the above ground fractals.
With the toughness scaling, hitting the 50 mark is taking ~27% off of power classes dps. If you can find them, condi classes can achieve equal damage easier, and you can be comfortable in tankier gear on condi classes because the lost power/prec is relatively little damage.
And for fractals where enemies can get protection, condi becomes so much better.
My Fav for support/boons – running berserk gear
Chrono due to haste and aclarity
Guard due to passive healing and Might on Crit, and haste
Herald – all around best boon generator

Fractals is one of the few places where warriors and berserkers seem welcome.

depends on how you like to play, if you like playing support its fun to have water and playing with auras etc.
