Trinity is not unique to other games
Guild Wars 2 does have the trinity, but it’s a slightly less restrictive one.
You can have tanks or support that makes everyone feel tanky. They also do fairly decent damage.
TANKS/HEALERS/DPS → CONTROL/SUPPORT/DAMAGE.
It’s a pretentious statement to try to say this is new and interesting, but the main change is that you don’t have to have a CONTROL or SUPPORT to be successful in a group. It sure helps though.
If you want a tank, look for support warriors or guardians. If you want healers, look for water elementalists or support… guardians… Almost all of the classes have CC of some sort.
The trinity is still there. It’s just different and doesn’t restrict parties to absolutely NEEDING any one of them.
i think the trinity is still in there, the mechanic we lost is the “taunt”
and instead we got the “dodge” or “kite” or “knockback”
the problem is that without the “taunt” if the target is a squishy without points in vit-tough they will probably go down soon with no real way to rescue em, and in the end what made a good “tank” was the ability to sponge damage and keep it on em, and that last part is what we’re missing with the bosses either darting around between players or going aoe on everyone
I feel that trinity is somewhat in this game. I play a guardian and I feel like in certain dungeons I prefer certain classes over others, classes that can support me to stay alive a bit longer while I face tank stuff at the same time they can dish out insane DPS. I also feel that everyone in my party has to bring with them some sort of CC or support and not just go all out DPS…(Signet warriors). You could say I’m a bit racist against signet warriors. I absolutely refuse to invite or dungeon with signet warriors.
