Anyone wanna make bets? in game gold only, of-course, since no one here would support RMT.

Would anyone take a bet with me DnT vs the field at 1:5 odds for 25g? If DnT wins I get 125g, if anyone else wins you get 25g.

Oh, I see that the brackets got reshuffled. Its definitely better than what it was before, can’t wait to take on DnT first round :-D. Not going to bet though.

not as much as I would like, but we have been practicing a decent amount. We will be running some unconventional comps/builds that will raise some eyebrows(dead serious here)

Nothing is off the table. =D

I had a whole year of events planned out, but after they announced the xpac I sorta erased it all because for all we know there will be content in the xpac such that all future events will involve that and nobody will want to do the old stuff. Or there will be some sort of raid progression that channels competitive pve in that direction.

Ah but that’s not that simple bet. Lets say you’re very optimistic and you think DnT has a 75% chance of winning, that means that his expected value of the bet is to win 93g. If I had 10,000g with no use of it, I could afford to place enough bets with 75% odds of winning that I could handle the occasional loss and still be way, way ahead. If all you had in your bank was 125g it would be harder to take the risk. As always, the bigger bank role has a huge advantage in gambling.

I would like to offer a suggestion too. What do you think about in a best out of 5, you roll 9 maps, each team gets to ban 2 of the maps and then the teams pick the remaining 5 maps to play. Coin toss for deciding first pick/ban in any order. I feel this allows teams to play maps that they feel are to their advantage and remove ones that they are not confident in. It also allows for a scouting meta game where teams can watch other teams and see what they are weak at.

I don’t like any path picking by the teams. We tried it before, if you recall, and it led to people picking paths that they were 99% sure to win, which isn’t super fun for anyone.

The old system was very flawed mainly because teams had 100%control over the path they wanted. The current system is too random and it does not taken into account the strength and weakness of each team. I feel a middle ground will spice things up. Maybe banning 4/9 is too much. Maybe in a best out of 5, each team can ban 1 map to eliminate some RNG that could go against their favor. My team did a mock run using the SC vs qT match and we immediately identified what they were good/bad at and what we were good/bad at. Now if you look at the opposite side of the spectrum, playing a random path where I know we are 99% sure to lose is not fun either.

If you are playing in this tournament, it’s probably best to make sure there are no paths that you feel there’s a 99% chance of losing. Sure, some paths you might not feel as confident as others and time is limited for practicing, but yea, I agree with the whole ‘practice as many paths as you can’.
