The “up” path has a lot of spiders on the way to the Twilight Tree, and the “forward, up” path ends with the Twilight Tree surrounded by spiders, but there are basically no spiders along the way. Given that all the explorable paths end at the twilight tree, was this intended?
On a side note, killing the Twilight Tree with spiders became boring and way too easy when we realized we could kill it by using ranged auto attacks from the door way without getting a lot of new spiders.
In the very beginning they tell you there are 3 people (paths) looking to control the nightmare tree and that it must be stopped. So yes the tree at the end is on purpose.
