The previous temporary LS dungeons, Aetherblade Retreat and Molten Facility are featured in “new” Fractals, so I was wondering how could they implement the Marionnete fight in an actual Fractal. I really liked this fight’s mechanic, and it’s a shame to see it go away, I’d want to see it make a come-back in a Fractal setting.

I know there are loads of problems with putting it into a fractal, most importantly, it’s out in the open world, so it’s not instanced, but I wanted to see if anyone has any good suggestions on how to make it into a “fractal” once this LS is over.

Lots of people are suggesting to make this fight “instanced” and while it wouldn’t work in the LS version, how could it be converted into a Fractal? Thoughts? Ideas?

I guess you could have a boss that has 5 separate phases. Each phase is the different champ. Would be ridiculously faceroll though. The only reason its hard in open world is because of brainless zerglings in cleric staff builds.

I love this idea. But you don’t make it phases. You make it 5 solo encounters. Everyone picks a lane so you can assign roles for the 5 different mobs (no RNG in who goes where and fights what- lane 1 fights the 1st chain champ, lane 5 fights the 5th chain champ) and each party member has to kill their mob solo within the allotted time then destroy the power core.
Or

Still solo, but you go through each chain champion in rounds. So in round 1 everyone fights the Chain 1 champion and must succeed. Then everyone has to fight Chain 2 champ and succeed, ect.

They would have to tweak the mob class/hp/damage to make them challenging but not insane (just think of the QQ threads :/) so maybe make them lvl 83 vets or lvl 82 elites.

You would have to revamp some of the champions. Kind of hard to kill the first champ solo if its always aggroed on you. :P

Neat idea, if there are 5 pads inside the portal, each party member would have to solo a champ and destroy the generator. Should be fun. But lane defense seems tricky in a small instance, it would basically permanently split the dungeon party. But say if everyone would defend a lane and then enter one by one when the portal opens (still governed by the Teleportation Sickess), it could work.

Marionette would be much more fun in an instance, than having to fail because some people run with useless builds.

Stun beams are too high tech, let’s go with old fashioned collapsing ceilings where you need to skip trash!

On a more serious note, this would make a good boss fractal, but as it is right now it relies far too heavily on zerg mechanics and less on individual skill. This would require a heavy rework to make it actually playable in 5 man instances. You could keep the champions, and keep the gimmicks, but just lower their health, damage and armor so we have a fighting chance. I haven’t even counted fractal level scaling. As for opening the portals, uh… I’ll have to think about that one.

You dont need to reduce the damage, hp and armour of the champs. They are already scaled perfectly for solo to 5man groups. They are very low hp already. Only champs that would need to be changed are the first 1 so it can be solo’d without the use of pets or minions and the last 1 so it has slightly less splits and slightly less damage.

Portal is opened on one lane only (i.e. no lanes). Other players fight the mobs, while 1 person is soloing the champ inside. They have the Teleportation Sickness so that only one player can go through the portal.
The only issue renamining is Fractal Scaling. And what spoj said about champ1 mechanics. All champs should be soloable.

And actually, unlike other world bosses, this event already reduced the zerg-fest as it splits the group. And then it splits it some more once inside the portal.

The first round champion actually can be soloed. It turns to face aggro target like once every 2s meaning you can circle around to get hits in. At least warrior can solo it, maybe other professions too with better movement than what I had.

I think it would be better if one lane was assaulted at a time. Players have to defend it for a minute or so then go through the portal and all have to kill the champion. Boss 1 would need to be changed since it would be 1 player on each platform. 3 might need to be nerfed slightly. And 5 wouldn’t split as much. After each is boss is successfully killed in the time limit you get teleported to the next lane to defend. If the bosses aren’t killed in the time limit you have to defend the lane again
