Under Water Raids Confirmed
League Of Ascending Immortals [OATH]
Strictly speaking, it kinda needs to happen eventually. Afterall, there is that underwater dragon barring access to Cantha that we’ll have to put down at some point.

It doesn’t need to happen. We could fight ‘S’ on the shore, from a boat, or some other mechanic. It would be disappointing to me if Arena Net abandoned underwater combat, but they haven’t exactly dispelled the issue. It’s come up enough and they’ve have had plenty of opportunities to do so, but haven’t. If they were committed to revamping underwater combat we’d have heard something by now instead of the erosion of underwater content that we’ve seen. Keep in mind that one important biome in jungles is the fresh water biome, and Arena Net intentionally chose not to develop that biome in their jungle content.
I don’t know why ANet stopped working on underwater combat. I love it, it’s the best underwater combat in any MMO ever. To see no new underwater legendaries makes me kinda sad.

That’s standard procedure for ANet: Start things, then drop them instead of pursuing and expanding them. It’s sad, really.

True, like with Zhaitan. But if all the Elder Dragon fights are like that, it’d be really disappointing. I suppose we’ll just have to see how we handle Mordremoth before final speculations could be made regarding Bubbles.

Agreed. I’d say this is the best underwater combat I’ve encountered. Most people, I think, don’t like underwater combat in general due to that third dimension that needs to be accounted for, as most are likely far more accustomed to mere two-dimensional combat.
We don’t like underwater combat because there is nothing worthwhile underwater, there are none of the fantastic underwater cities that they promised, and there are very very few encounters that actually make you have to use underwater content.
The combat was never really the issue, it’s the fact that there’s so little content that it’s just pointless.

For me it feels like the underwater weapons just have random attacks and compared to ground fights the movement and camrea feels very clunkly. It also sucks how 99% of the time you have one skill set (besides some minor changes for certain situations) and then for 1% you are in the water and you have different skills. Not even taking in account that you usually have really kittenty traits for underwater combat.
Simply taking the ground skills and modifying them would have been so much better. Ground target skills would be AOEs around the target and/or replaced with new unique skills that fit to underwater combat (like move up or move down). But what ever, they already created tons of underwater skills.
They never even reworked the underwater weapons and gave them a skillset that could be used on land so now we have a bunch of useless content that just clutters the game, dont worry tho HoT will be completely different cries
I know in my guild the majority of us would quit the game if a raid was underwater. I like underwater combat in this game but designing a whole raid around it would be far too difficult and underwater combat is still extremely unbalanced. I could see some part of a raid use underwater combat but not for a boss fight.
