Shouldn’t ANet make it possible to make other infusions that provide +5 agony resistance be upgrade able to +7s, similar to the versatile simple infusions in fractals?

At the moment there is no way to upgrade any +5 AR defensive or offensive infusions to +7 AR infusions like the ones that can be upgraded easily within fractals.

This includes Ghostly Infusions and Moto Infusions as well.

I dunno, I actually like that there’s a tradeoff between the stat boost on +5’s and the extra agony on +7’s. I think that if +5 agony/stat infusions and +7’s had both been around forever then this wouldn’t be as much of an issue, as the +5 agony/stat infusions are a super high end boost for fotm only (since you can get cheap ones from wvw).

But what I don’t like is that people paid out the kitten for +5 agony/stat infusions assuming them to be best in slot, and now that they situationally aren’t it feels unfair to have paid so much in the past only to have them rendered ineffective for high level fotm.

And even that wouldn’t be an issue if it weren’t for the fact that getting to 150 AR while using only +5 infusions is ridiculously expensive since you need five +16 infusions (current buy orders ~450g each). I know these are some high end kitten and probably a decent number of people who actually have 14 +5 agony/stat infusions can maybe afford it, but that’s just too much.

So yeah stat infusions should probably be able to be upgraded to +7 agony.

if you are rich enough to afford an aura or a 100g+ 5 stat infusion, you are rich enough to afford upgrading 2 of your smallest agony slot infusions by +1 each.

Yeah the issue is more that if you have all +5 infusions instead of +7’s then you would need to have much bigger agony infusions in your rings and backpack. Instead of three +10 and two +11’s, you need five +16’s which costs over 2000 more gold.

The current cost of a full set of 14 +5 power/agony infusions (six versatile, eight offensive) is a little under 1800g. While I have no problem with there being an additional cost for better agony infusions, it seems ridiculous that you have to more than double your already substantial investment to make the +5 stat/agony infusions actually be usable, especially since the +5 infusions were best in slot until the fotm update six months (?) or so ago and there is no way to recoup the invested ~1800 gold.

This has been brought up many times, yet there’s still no response. Really depressing, especially for those who got those infusions in many slots. It’s wasted money either way.

Yes, it’s tremendously stupid.

Then again, the extreme material/gold sink that 5 stat/5 AR infusions are is also pretty dumb.

They should either remove them from the game (my guess on their reluctance to do anything here is that they realize infusions in general were a bad design decision, with these being an even worse design decision..), or greatly increase their accessibility and allow them to easily be upgraded to +7 AR.
