Hi,
gotta a question about vale guardian for you guys.
That’s not a noob question (we’re a static raid that had eternal on second week after raid release and that usually clear raid 2/3 times for week without particular issue).
So since i have always been the tank there i’m pretty confident with it and right after last balance patch i started to notice a strange behaviour on the vg last phase that i had never experience before patch.
Basically at some point on last phase while i’m moving him it happens that right after cc phase the boss cast blue and stop to follow me for like 2 or 3 second. This end up on having a green behind.
It doesnt mind when i move, i can wait till cc bar is broken to move and vg wont follow me on the next platform even with insta cc break bar for that 2/3sec, i can move in the next platform when light is still up 5 sec before it phade out and still with insta cc break bar boss will cast a blue and stand still or move the opposite direction than me for that 3/4 sec.
It’s not a mine mistake path issue, i’m not near mid. I tryed other tank and other raid and noticed the same issue.
It’s not a tough issue.
At that point i started to check on youtube vg videos post patch and i had 3 of them, and in all 3 video i noticed the same behaviour.
At some point, when timer is under 2:00 min last, boss stop for that 2 or 3 sec.
This is not a gamebreaking issue (it’s enough to heal through) but i’d like to know what happened, i made this theory:
1-timer: pre patch we were killing it having nearly 3:xx min last on timer. Now we’re killing it with 1:30/2:00 mins on timer. Since cc phase, blue and green are time summoned (30s,9s,15s) i wonder if that if you dont kill vg within a particular amount of time then the 3 cd would end up on a cc phase followed from an instant blue who end up on boss to stay still lf target. Before patch with bunkerzerk we were killing it in that amount of time now we arent.
2-bug or behaviour change.
3-our new setup bring new classes with some skill i’m unaware that bring boss to turn and move away fro me.
As i told that’s not gamebreaking for us but i’d really like to figure it out, thx

:S not sure it was fine when I tanked it. I notice stuff like that happens (also prepatch) when the melee dps lingers behind tho. If I have them move instantly with me it never happens.

So when a green spawn far they take a bit more time to reach the boss.
This can be the reason we werent experiencing it pre patch while now i noticed it sometimes.

We changed even the melee, we changed 6/10 raid composition after patch
Btw i have not experienced this stuff enough to know what people is doing and if some melee is lingering with new composition (we only killed vg 3 or 4 times after last balance patch) but i find your argument is really reliable, next time i do vg i will put an eye on melee.

I don’t think taunt it’s the issue, vg is supposed to be immune to the cc part of taunt due to defiance bar
i guarantee that the post patch timer difference you are experiencing is due to any combo of the 3 dps nerfs that rev sword, alacrity, and scorched earth received.

That being said PS warrs do gain toughness when they rez ppl. At least in my group more toughness then the tank has.
In my opinion, it sounds like the boss doesn’t know what skill to cast and I think it is a bug. The best would be if CC phase would make his 2 AoE skills on full cooldown, so there is no problem in moving him.
I’ve noticed a few issues with what appear to be scripting/pathing.
Generally it will happen in the last phase after the first break bar, the boss will 180 as if to place teleport stones, not place them continue walking but walking the wrong direction (I.E toward blue and not toward the tank, whose in the green sector).
If i get a video of this i’ll post it later.

Normally the guardian sticks to the tank, recently for us after the CC phase it has been running off in a random direction for a couple of seconds.

Since this behaviour is recent and it seem to happens just to some people and not others i start to think it can be something related to a particular class or skill.
May i know what class do you use for tank? and the rest of your common raid composition?

It didn’t happen in our last run which was

1x Viper Ranger
2x Viper Necro
1x PS Warrior
2x Tempest
1x Daredevil
The week prior when it did happen the composition was

I know it wasn’t the PS warrior pulling agro during rez because no one was down.
Outside of that i can’t really help narrow it down.
It happened to us with this composition:

1x Druid
2x PS Warrior
1x Viper Necro
1x Condie Engie
2x Ele
1x Viper war
I am 100% sure it wasnt ps war too, it’s the 1st think i tough about but we had no downed when happened.
Could it be chronotank? I tanked with if for months without problems but maybe with the patch they kittened something about toughness on phantasm, or maybe on defender
I don’t think so…I’m not going to rule it out, but our tank is fairly solid.
Even they were at a loss for words when it happened. I’m kinda leaning toward just pathing in general being off for VG fights.
Noticed another issue today during a run where the Red Guardian during phase 2/4 ran outside the arena boundary. I think this has more to due with the change to the Pylon locations and arena wall in general. Thankfully it did not lead to a reset but it was worrying.
Our tank has noticed that the closer to the center of the circle. The more likely he is to do weird movements. So what we noticed last night is that when our tank went to move him into the next 1/3 of the floor. Rather than VG following him, it would move along the border between two zones for a bit, then follow the tank in.
We have also noticed some weird bugs with blue teleportation circles. Usually at the beginning of the fight. We had one run where he didn’t cast the teleport for the first 30 seconds or so of the fight. He would turn around like he was going to cast them. But never actually did.
Yes I experienced the same with those teleportation aeoes. Something on it is definitely bugged.

The only oddity I’ve experience with VG is his 180 turn as he’s about to summon the blue spots on the ground. Otherwise he’s sticking to the tank linearly from my experience.

He is supposed to turn 180 to cast the blue teleports.

Sorry, that’s what I mean. It’s odd that he’s done that since the beginning of raids, but that’s the only movement I’ve seen him do outside of trying to pursue tank in a linear fashion.

Same here, killed like 40 times with no issue at all.
Then after last patch, with the same tank sometimes it screw up and move on random direction.
Dunno the reason and it’s not an huge deal, but still something changed.
When it’ll redo this i’m gonna post a video
