Hi,

Very small suggestion that should be possible with a small numbers tweak.

Add a Raid option to have more people in the party. I’ve been watching the Forsaken Thicket (Looking for More) feature and have noticed that there’s a strong desire for a druid and a lot of call for people with very particular builds.

This seems rather against the flow of what Guild Wars 2 was set out to be. It’s fine to min-max something to death. There’s a whole community of people I play with who live for that.
On the other hand, there’s a much larger community of people who would like to play together because they are friends and that’s why we play MMOs.

I’d suggest making a second Raid option which allows for as many as 15 people. This wouldn’t increase the difficulty of the raid at all. In fact, I’d leave the damage of the NPCs and the mechanics 100% the same. All that would be changed is the amount of people who can come along AND a small percentage HP increase to the NPCs: perhaps ( % ^ 2 ) – (and timers where necessary).
In doing this you’d increase the amount of people who can group up with their friends. Ideally it would be a situation where if the raid came with 10 people it could still be completed. If it came wit 12 people it would scale to accommodate the 12 people. If you brought a full 15 it would scale to accommodate that.

Anyway, this would stop the outcry of people feeling that Anet has given up on being about a living world (not to be mistaken with seasonal living world) for just becoming another Raid/Elitist type game. It’d also allow people to play with their friend’s much more easily because the HP & Timer scaling would keep the difficulty the same regardless of the number of people in the group. The game would just scale to adapt to the people you bring. If you’re very savvy with your scripting it could probably just tally up the party’s equipment and scale accordingly. It’d be much more in the vein of the rest of the Guild Wars 2.

Thanks

I’ve had (successful) raid runs with 0 druids and with 2 druids. It’s not really the fault of the content itself that people are min maxing so much. It’s much more lax than people would have you believe. I’ve even had successful pug runs with no chronomancer or no warrior.

also I have literally never run the exact meta build, and I only run a close approximation about half the time, and I have 50something boss kills

It’s a lot more complex then simply scaling health/defiance bars. Most of the mechanics are based on having 10 people. In just the first wing this would effect…

- Rez time
- Buff composition
- VG Green circles
- Spiritwood orb capture point thing
- Gorseval Charged Souls soft CC
- Number of backups who can do Sabetha cannons/red bombs

And this would be even more apparent in wing 2 which relies heavily on projectile defense uptime and condion transfers.

Tbh I would very much like a scaling option, but at the same time the effort needed to do it well would be very hard as these bosses would need to have heavy mechanic tweaking as well.

Alara Vesmir – Guardian
Tyr Sylvison – Warrior
Illyiah – Revenant

And don’t forget KC. Bigger amounts of Players can make it harder for the Football Phase, also KC’s Bombs are quite large and the Area is a bit small. More People means, less Space to spread to be safe. Either only 10 get the Bombs or the Bombs need to be smaller.

Its not just Numbers that needs to be tweaked, certain Mechanics need to be Changed or otherwise the Mechanics could become a Joke or just broken.

And why are People still talking about the Timers? Raids don’t fail because of Timers. Raids fail because of Mechanics.
