Venting a Frustration
I’m sorry but this isn’t a problem that you can prevent. We are given an option to kick players in our team, some people choose to abuse this. This is outside the game’s control
It is outside of our control, that is the problem. 2 votes is not enough to warrant a kick in a 5-man party. 3 is more reasonable, it doesn’t entirely solve the issue but can help prevent some instances of this from happening.

True, but you can minimize its consequences.
Instead of giving players 60 tokens at the end of the dungeon, give them between 10 and 20 tokens after killing each boss (depending on how difficult the boss is), and only if they actually participated in the boss fight (ex., if they did a minimum of 5% total damage or 5% total healing).
That way, even if a couple of jerks decide to start kicking other players on boss 4/4, those players will have around 45 tokens from the previous bosses.
And before anyone says “but then people will just do the first boss over and over”, remember that a) the first boss in most dungeons is harder than the last, and b) GW2 has a diminishing returns system, so if you kill the same boss a second time before the daily reset, you’d get less tokens.
It’s really not rocket science; most other MMOs handle this just fine.
Sometimes the game just makes you lose your progress. That’s perfectly normal in Gw2.

I heard that this was the way how dungeon rewards worked on gw2 at launch. But it caused another problem where most groups weren’t finishing the path, they were just farming the first bosses, so in Arah for example you could farm tokens without having to fight Lupicus.
In that old method it was much more easier to keep killing the spider queen in ac p2 for example then reset the instance than having to finish the whole path.

i c wut u did thar
Also, be happy it was just cofp1, takes only 10 mins anyway. Haven’t run into the problem yet myself luckily.

I am thankful it was just CoF P1. However the capacity of this happening is scary. Especially with something like Arah, where there are people who sell completion slots.
Changing the party system would be silly. By increasing the number of people required to kick, you only make it harder for legitimate kicks to take effect. If people are going to grief with the kicking system, increasing the number required will not dissuade griefers from griefing.
Having the sectional completion would be nice, but I think this would cause a huge swing to be able to farm some of the harder dungeons easily. Like Arah, whereas it may take longer to get all the tokens you need, the armor could still be easily obtainable with never completing a single path.
The solution currently in my mind right now, and this is definitely not thoroughly thought out, nor probably plausible, is to have each instance record who participated, and distribute out rewards to anybody who participated in the killing of the final boss. There would of course be a cap to the number of entrants to this. Kind of like how participating in an event, and then leaving, provides the final rewards, so would the final boss of the thing.
Firstly this probably isn’t possible with the system Arena Net currently uses. Secondly, this also could be abused. I only state it as food for thought, as the idea of this happening for profit is quite scary.
OP, sorry to hear that happened to you. If I was you, I’d take some solace in the fact that their lives must be balls to make griefing like that fun.
According to some people who play the game…
You did it for the challenge. You had fun playing it, so you shouldn’t demand anything for not finishing the boss, since you didn’t.
You already got rewards for what you did, like mini-boss kills and chests throughout the dungeon.
But seriously, yes, this is an issue and Anet needs to start addressing the real problems in the game.
