I’ve found the fractals more fun, doing them individually is a lot easier to try and fit in than having to do four consecutively, I do them more than I used to.
The only issue seems to be the fact that the rewards for doing them got nerfed, really, really heavily, even with the entire fractal attunement mastery line maxed out and doing the daily quest.
I wouldn’t say that they’re unsatisfactory when compared to dungeons. The main issue is that there haven’t been any new ones for a long time, but, in comparison to dungeons that’s the exact same thing that’s occured with them since release. So… it’s comparable, not desirable, but comparable.
I think Brazil had his expectations high for them to redo the fractals and that just didn’t happen. it may happen in the future.
What they did do is make the bottom ends more casual friendly and the top ends a bit more difficult leaving a decent difficulty in the mid ground for mid tier players.
I am enjoying myself with them and do them daily more then i used to as im a necro.
as said earlier i think more refining will need to be done but they made a big step so far.
I think for a large part of the veteran fractal runners, fractals are worse than before :
Almost no reward (ascended armor / weapon are almost non existant), while before you could expect with 4 dailies an ascended drop
They are a lot easier now, even in level 100. Bosses hit less than before, they just have a lot more toughness so fight are longer…so now, in higher level, you almost must bring a condi engi / ranger if you dont want to spend hours on a boss
The instabilities are not very interesting and just there to annoy some kind of people (zerker people that used to dodge, to might stack etc…).
The dailies are too easy: 2, 10 + the daily. Then 21, 40 + the daily. And finally 56, 67 and 77.
Some exploit are still there (you know that people still cheese mossman ?)
If you want to see if fractals are in a good spot, look at the lfg section 75+ and sée how slow group are filling. But i fear that it’s not important fort anet, and that veteran fractal runners were not the target.
For the more casual players indeed fractals are more accessible now, but they wont learn mecanics because boss are too easy, and since no reward, i think they will stop too doing the high level fractals.
I used to do 50/40/30 pretty regularly and now I don’t even do the dailies regularly. I find the new system boring and unrewarding. Until they boost the rewards I don’t see myself getting to 100 anytime soon. With the singular fractal per level I was hoping special tailor made instabilities but nope instead we got the current system so they really dropped the ball.
1) Too low reward in terms of ascended stuff
2) Paying one gold to dez one ring for not a single dark matter glob is bad
3) Thoughness scaling is a VERY bad design, forcing to go condi over power. More Hp’s or new mechanics would be way better.
4) Too easy and forgiving even with the instabilities in high scales (damages taken from ennemies are too low)
If these issues are fixed, fractals would be absolutely perfect for me, and would even compensate the loss of rewards in dungeons.
I think they made it alot better,
Fractals are now alot more quicker and faster accessible, due to not beign forced anymore to have to complete 3+1 bonus fractal after anyother to get it done, but now each fractal is just 1 small instance and once your done with it, your done and can continue onto the next one of the next fractal level… making it alot better to progress on your Fractal Level without wastign so much time on unnneccessary fractals which you might have played already countless of times.
It makes it possible and more accessible for newer palyers to reach quicker the higher fractal levels to participate with guildies and friends on them on the same fractal levels without that guildies/friends have to wait too long,uintil their pals can play the same fractal levels with them due top players now beign able to progress faster in the fractal levels and having not to do each time 4 fractals just for a fractal level up, but now just only 1 is enough.
the system has been improved, because Fractals are now not random anymore, each Fractal level from 1 to 100 is now assigned to a ver specific Fractal.
When you do for example Fractal lvl 20, you always know, that you will land in the boss fractal agaisnt the Jade Kraken, while for example Fractal Level 21 will always bring you to the colossos fractal with that boss where you need to hit the seal to free the colossos.
This way when you plan on doign a specific fractal for exampel for going for achievements, you know exactly which fractal levels will deliver for you the needed fractal to work on the achievements.
You don’t need to enter, go back and reenter permanently fractals anymore, until you finalyl get that stupid fractal that you want!!
Now you just need to know, which fractal levels provide the fractal that you want!!
Also they improved alot the access to the Fractal Weapon Skins, making them for all alot more accessible and lesser of an idiotic mind numbing grind.
They significantly improved the rated in which you get infusions, making it easier to ramp up your needed AR and rebalanced the AR system much better, to make fractals again more accessible for new as liek veteran players, which so far didn’t minnded to play ever Fractals due to the stupid AR gating beign too unbalanced for many people.
Where I would have been completely unable to play a lvl 50 Fractal before HoT, I can now play a level 50 fractal with my AR of 65, simply due to Anet having rebalanced the AR better and makign this way fractals of the mist alot more accessible for many people which didn’t cared much about fractals, due to the ridiculous AR grind you had to go through first to be able to play it even effectively without havign to fear, that every stupid fart in a fractal could potentially 1 hit kill you due to too less AR…
Now the new max is 150 and we can go for fractal level 100. I absolutely thinkl the changes improved in every point frasctals, plus fractals are now far far more rewarding in regard of makign gold, than they were before, therefore that they nerfed down dungeon rewards and I find myself making even in fractals now significantly more gold, than from doing pre Hot dungeon runs and that much faster than normal dungeon path runs from selling all the stuff I get from fractal runs and opening fractal chests with fractal chivres where you have the chance to get junk loot thats worth between 10 silver to 1 gold, which is the reason, why they are inself self also very valuable and you get much fadster those chestes, than you get chivres to open them, so you have always far more of them left over, than you need, so that you can sell them also for alot of gold together quickly as the chests themself are simply click bait for Tp flippers that like to make with them money, while the constant sellign of them easily flips alot olf gold from one player to another while the game has another good tp gold sink more
Fractals are a waste of time now, I ran dailies lvl 40 and 50 Pre-HoT and it was actually rewarding, now I just lose my time, my money and have to grind more for something that doesn’t deserve it, people saying fractals are cool are probably new players, because there’s no way the new system is better at the maintime with these bad rewards and HP sponges.
Also, no new fractals since 2 years now, this must be a joke, I wouldn’t be surprised if they just abandon fractals like dungeons and focus on raids only, because the issues cannot be addressed…
My girlfriend got 6 gold from one low level run with 2 dailes…I got crap xD it is really just based on RNG and these 1 and 5 gold trash items are very very rare.
What I found the most problematic about this change is the fact that people just leave the party without saying anything
Fractals are bad.
1. Toughness scaling is bad. The day is coming where I wont get a group bc I play an elly and it won’t be meta.
2. Rewards have been removed. I don’t get why this whappen. In the MMOs I played rewards were never nerfed nor shifted to new content. I know I don’t like this and will stay away in future MMOs I play.
3. They took away randomization. People do 3x easisest for daily.
4. From my experience so far… Individual fractals take much longer due to toughness scaling.
In the end, the changes were all “peripheral.” They were surface changes that had nothing to do with core mechanics of each fractal. They made bug fixes and preventing stacking in some spots… but it took them two years. Your $50 certainly did not go to that.

I think the system they set up for Fractals is good, but they desperately need to do more balancing with the creature scaling. Rewards also need to be looked at.
I got into fractals because I knew id get ascended armor/wep chances, but now that thats not the case, I havent really touched them since. If they returned that system of ascended chance id definitely come back so I could actually finish my ascended sets. I cant be the only person who hates crafting so fractals were the only way really to earn ascended for me. R.I.P fractals 2k15
I watched that video too and I agree for the most part.
I haven’t done any fractals since the first week of HoT, that artificial increase in difficulty is just a really cheap way. Out of principles I don’t do this content anymore.
I’m really disappointed in the changes, so I’m not gonna act like nothing happened and swallow Anet’s crap.
Players says nobody talks anymore in the FoTM parties either, I think that is a bad development.
Feels like we are beating a dead horse anyways, since we never got any information regarding it from a Dev. And there has been topic’s about it since release of HoT.
Issues with fractals right now are (for me, at least):
- Dumb toughness scaling
- Mobs barely dealing any damage whatsoever
- Rip ascended chest and skin drops
- Rip random nature of fractals, even though this can also be something positive.
- Less dailies
- Lots of wasted instability-potential, instead of tailoring them to the islands they took lazy, boring instabilities and slapped them on 10 scales each, with most of them punishing you playing well when they could’ve gone with things that heavily change the whole fractal or a certain encounter, making you to actually come up with different strategies. You can basically go through things by just ignoring them.

If you don’t open the encryptions, and sell them, yup. But that’s kinda ridiculous.

I enjoy leveling my fractal level now because it only takes one zone.
2. Do you see yourself doing more/less or the same ?
More since it’s much easier to level now.
3. Since they are now a bigger focus than vanilla dungeons, are they satisfactory the way they are or do they need something more?
They’re satisfactory now. I do wish more dungeons would be created, but I know that will never happen. I hope they begin to add more fractal zones now.

1. Has fractals been more/less fun since the xpac dropped?
2. Do you see yourself doing more/less or the same ?
3. Since they are now a bigger focus than vanilla dungeons, are they satisfactory the way they are or do they need something more?

2.) Less. Use to do 50 a few times a week. I did a few since HOT.
3.) They need more. They need support. They need collections that work. They need meaningful rewards. But more than anything, they need some new maps.
Current fractals are better for casuals.

First of all there are no real hardcore players playing this game.
Also, are casuals braindead people who find spamming #1 fun? Cause that’s what fractals are now. Even worse than before HoT.
They require no player skill, no risk is involved and they also give no rewards. Same repetitive old content with nothing interesting or new happening.

2. Less, been playing gw2 less overall. Can’t even get my friends to run them since most of them used to run fracts for asc.
3. This anet’s “focus” on fracts is a rip off with nothing new to make fracts more interesting.
