Hi,

It seems that Sinister Armor is all in the rage now with the Raid and stuff and I have to re-equip my toons from berserker to siniser. How cheap is it to create exotic ones or maybe ascended ones. How about putting 4 pieces of exotic armor and see what are your chances of getting an exotic Sinister Armor? Or just craft your own and pay for it?

Also, would you recommend to get a substitute armor like Khilbron’s, Ogden’s, Shiro’s, Vatlaaw’s, Galrath’s, Brutus/Sheena’s and equip yourself on the cheap?

Well first of all don’t go sinister for the hell of going sinister. It depend on your profession and build. Sinister was a thing for a long time now, you can started to hear about it i guess. Sinister Engineer was the best dps in the game since the specialisation update a couple months ago, now with the expansion it’s more about a mix of Viper and Sinister and I’m not sure Condi Engineer is still the highest dps. A lot of new build are coming out for raid, so we’ll see.

If you want a condi gear 1st Viper, 2nd Sinister, 3rd Rabid. But if you gonna raid, don’t take Rabid unless you are the tank or you gonna screw up the agro.

For Viper and Sinister, it’s usually cheaper to craft a exotic inscription/insignia and to swap stats on an existing ascended armor than to craft ascended directly. Simple because it’s so much more work to accumulate the currency needed to buy the Ascended recipe.

But really, look at what you want to do and IF it happen to be better in Condition than Direct Damage, then make the move. Don’t craft Viper or Sinister just because you heard of it.

Overall, a good condi set is one of the hardest sets to get, which is probably why it’s so hard to get good condi players for raids. Here’s the overall process for what gear you’ll want and how to get it:

For your trinkets, you’ll want Sinister, except your backpack. There’s no Sinister or Viper’s backpack, so you’ll just want a rabid, rampagers, or celestial back piece.

The trinkets are kind of a pain to get, but are worth it. Here are your options:
Amulet:

To get the Viper’s Insignia and Inscription needed to change stats on ascended armor/weapons, you’ll need to buy the recipe from one of the following vendors in Auric Basin:

This will all cost a LOT of gold and time if you don’t already have many of these resources, so yea, make sure you really are best suited as condi before making the investment.

Farm some SW, you can buy sinister amulet and accessories for bandit crests which do not take long time to acquire. On top of that them being ascended and are account bound instead of soul bound so you can switch them from character to character to accomodate a wider variety of builds.

Also, even if you decide to go viper instead, a couple of sinister pieces in tehre will not make any significant difference for condi deeps and the SW pieces are far easier to farm for then the viper pieces.

Silverwastes, get recipes for Sinister (exotic) trinkets and make them. Poof. you have sinister trinkets (except backpiece). Viper armor + wep is usually good. Maxes out most condi duration with the addition of a malice/smoldering rune. and just put berserker runes on armor w/ a bursting for +11% condi damage.

The amulet you get from completing the achievements in the last chapter of Heart of Thorns has a viper’s option as well.

If you’re anything like me, then you’ll have a maxed out zerker toon for each class, which allows you to go “el cheapo” on Viper gear by simply doing the HoT PS for each one of your toons. I’m about 3 boxes in at this point.
