Hi again

I’m going to be doing an Arah tour (all paths) Saturday and Sunday morning, approx 0900 PST. I will take any and all comers (well, just 4 more I guess, as I can’t run 2 accounts at the same time). You can be whatever class you want provided you KNOW YOUR CLASS. I’m very well qualified to teach warriors, pretty decent with guardians, and have general knowledge of eles, mesmers, and thieves, but I don’t know much about engis, necros or rangers, so I will expect you to know how to adapt to a situation that is presented to you. This doesn’t mean that the cool kidz from the forums who know Arah inside and out can’t come though! I just wanna have fun, and if I can help people understand/learn more, all the better!

I expect you to have:
Melee weapons (unless you’re an engi, then I’ll leave it up to you what to bring)
Undead Slaying potions
Life-steal food (Candied dragon rolls are great) or another dps food
One ranged weapon for Melandru (haven’t gotten that melee spot down yet)
A really good attitude
Teamspeak (a microphone isn’t necessary, but I don’t want to have to type out all my instructions)

Additionally, I request that all my trainees, warrior or not, watch this video. Brazil did an amazing job showing exactly how to melee Lupicus (apply what he said to your class). We will not be ranging Lupi at all, so be prepared for melee.

If you want to join the fun, please put your name down here. This will be a first come, first serve basis. We will start with p4 and work our way backwards. You don’t need to stay for the whole thing, so if you just need p4 for you DM title, I don’t mind if you leave after one dungeon. I’d hope I’ll have more people waiting for someone to drop

Mesmer here, I’d be interested in doing it on either day, whichever you need another person (Sunday preferred though). I just need p4 for my DM, but as someone who came back to the game a few weeks ago, it’s been ages since I’ve run Arah and wouldn’t mind a refresher.

I really want to learn how to do Arah so I can help my guildmates.

On the topic of Arah, but a bit off topic from your thread (sorry not meaning to derail it just seems an appropriate thread) does anyone ever do Story? I don’t see anything being advertised in LFG other than paid path runs.

Looking for someone to guide through Story, need it unlocked for pvp track.

It’s ok. To be honest, I see those “story” lfgs all the time. Just put up your own and it’ll fill pretty quick. Or just duo it w/ a friend.

I had so much fun and plan on doing at least Path 4 again today to help a guildmate get her Dungeon Master title. Thanks so much Dan!

One other question I had: Which path is easiest to start learning how to solo Arah? My guess would be 3 since it is shortest.

2 imo. It is a bit longer, but both Belka and the Abomination are little more than punching sacks. Alphard may take a few tries but is certainly doable and Brie… in the worst case you can still get help or bug her out.
Soloing p3 may require a portal device, depending on your class.

If you have friends, you could also start with p1 which is even easier imo, but you can’t solo Shoggroth due to the mechanics.

I’ve been trying out path 4 lately, and I’m having a ton of fun in there:

The first two fights (knight and balthazar priest) are pretty fun solo. Once you learn the timing for them, there’s a really nice rhythm you can get into.

The Melandru priest is the worst designed boss in the game, hands down. Even fighting this guy legit in a full party is dull and annoying, solo isn’t any better. There’s a recent thread about him with some helpful tips for dealing with his adds.

I’m still learning the Lyssa priest at the moment. She’s mean.

Lupi is Lupi, and after that are grenth and simins, which can be soloed, but grenth looks tricky, and simins would have to be exploited solo. The final boss wouldn’t be tough as long as you don’t get petrified.

I wouldn’t expect to get terribly far in a p4 solo, but the first few bosses might be some fun practice for ya :-)

Arah certainly can be soloed without bugging anything out (need to get help for parts of 1 and 4, but 2 and 3 are completely doable). Look for ‘legit solo arah’ videos on youtube.

Some people do bug bosses out, but don’t jump to the conclusion that all of us do. That defeats the whole point of trying a solo, in my (and many other’s) opinion. We don’t need the rewards, we just really like the combat system in this game and are dying for an actual challenge. Simply shutting down a challenging boss to AFK them takes all of the fun out of it.

Did the tour today. It was amazing, and we had a great time. Dan’s a great teacher and I personally learned a lot. I’d recommend this to anyone who’s interested in Arah. I’ll definitely be back for more!
