What class is best for FotM?
I always vote Necromancer as one of the best classes for dungeons simply for their fear abilities. Stops most boss attacks outright, although some FotM bosses seem to have unshakable now.
Personally I don’t like Guardians all that much because the benefits they offer are usually things that compensate for inexperienced play. Healing other players isn’t often necessary because each player should be able to manage their own heals anyways, and protection is a nice buffer for making mistakes with dodge. Which leaves Wall of Reflection as been perhaps the only true Guardian ability of note, that and the area pull from the GS.
Truly the best support IMO comes from giving vigor buffs to the team; as a Necromancer I value vigor most since it is not readily available to me, and dodging is a lot more valuable than higher defense or hp.
“it doesn’t make you spend hours preparing to have fun, rather than having fun”
Guild missions say otherwise.
there’s none. its the player that will a difference.
There are 5 classes I consider the “best” for fractals In order of best to worst.
1. Guardians
2. Elementalists (stipulation: Only 1 per party. 2 is excessive and not very useful. 3 is a tragedy.)
3. Warriors
4. Mesmers/Necros
Guardians and ele’s have ridiculous party support, and versatility. There is pretty much 0 situations where either classes does not have some skill that fits perfectly to the encounter. Warrior is there because if you need damage (which you do) you really cannot go wrong with a warrior. Boating insane melee, range, and underwater damage, wrapped up in the base tankiest class, leads to devastating results (Simple math, high damage on the most naturally tanky DPSer + good party support from the best healers = victory)
Necro’s and mesmers I would consider about equal use. They have specific skills that make them excellent for specific bosses. For example, the necro wells dump all over bosses that must remain stationary, and fears poop all over things like the dredge boss. Mesmers on the other hand get the best reflection skill ever (feedback), and time warp, which is basically amazing for whenever you need to do damage (Read: always)
Of the 3 classes who arent on there, 1 is on there because I dont really know what they can do in fractals, so, sorry engineers. Thieves and rangers arent on there because tbh I see them as “Warrior-lite” Their utility is lacking compared to the other 4 classes, and they wont outdamage or out-tank the average warrior. Of my 900 hours of playing I have met a single thief who truly "wow"d me with his damage, and he kept getting downed the moment a monster looked at him funny. As for rangers… well, Ive known quite a few rangers, including several dungeon masters, with whom I have done plenty of dungeons, and almost every run there would be a point where I disliked the fact that they were a ranger, whether it was their pet drawing extra aggro, their distinct lack of AoE (And no, having to use your utility slots or traits to get AoE is NOT a counterpoint to a lack of AoE, it’s an example of how you dont actually have any normally). Im a firm believer that rangers need some serious Anet love.
Now obviously skill will be a better determinant of party success. But I dont think you can really go wrong with a guardian or warrior heavy team.
Class called the player
So far, I would have to vote mesmer. Feedback is extremely useful is all but the underwater fractal, and portals trivialize the asura and swamp fractals.
Its all situational but classes are irrelevant builds on the other hand work wonders. I find having a decent mix of dps and support builds no matter the class makes runs easier. While its true some classes have an easier time fact is competent players doing their jobs leads to easy run no matter the class break down. There is no min maxing necessary bad players will ruin runs good players you wont even notice.

just to ask…how can you compare staff ele to D/D ele.
one is a support ranged, the other is a tank with offensive support.
They does the opposite thing ._.
Imho for fractal the best are:
1 Guardian, 1 warrior, 1 thief, 1 mesmer and another …..(possibly my D/D ele)
Thief is great for mobility, stealth and hook
Mesmer is good for portals, also phantasm etc draws away aggro.
Guardian is OP in too many situations he can reflect things in harpy stage and much more..also D/D ele + guardian can caps might stacks oten.
A good ranger is also good usually, unfortunately most don t know when to put away their pet .-.
But afaik any class is good, despite guardians helps really a lot.
(but i saw lot of bad guardians .-. also).
A PvE player is supposed to avoid a 1-2 second 1 shotting aoe.
A WWW player is considered uncapable of avoiding a 5,75 second aoe for half his health.
1mesmer 4guardians (you can change up to 2 guardians for warriors).
Did some fractals with a group of 2guards 2wars + ele/thief 2 days ago (no mesmer unfortunately) and it was just pure fun and pleasure. I could actually give some attention to the environment details
EDIT: One thing more, Necros are GREAT for all dungeons including fractals. I did not give them for my “best” team as I love close combat.
