And which ones are NOT?

Currently I play Druid and my chrohomancer. Druid is full ascended, but I don;t liek being the healer and im working to make the chrono fully ascended too as that seems to be always in demand for the alcatracity.

Which classes have a hard time getting a positon in a pug? Any classes that get the autoboot? Which ones are in big demand? Do most people get booted without full ascended?

It all depends on the group you find. Ascended is recommended not required, but some groups can require it.

There aren’t many classes that are autobooted, but thief/guardian (if not a tank)/Ranger (if not a heal druid)/necro are generally not as desired as a revenant/tempest/engineer/warrior/druid/chronomancer

A must for ANY raid: Druid, Chronomancer (most will be looking for chronotank), PS warrior. Keep in mind that most group will only be looking for 1 of each professions, so if you have these profession, you’re in a lot of competition with other people of the same profession.

Other professions that’s in high demand (from high to low) and needed more than one on each squad: Condi warriors, condi engis, Tempest, Revenant, Warrior. Except for revenant and warrior, the demand could change for different boss, for example: on VG condi engis are more desired than condi warrior, but it’s the opposite on Gorseval, etc etc.

Remember that this can change in the next balance update or even next raid wing

i would say:
1-2 chronos
2 ps warrior
2 herald
1 druid
3-4 power/condi dps depending on the boss.

Raids are all about boosting team damage meaning that a few roles at pretty fixed as nothing will do support better. Chronos for quickness and alacrity, Warriors for might and banners, heralds for boon duration and fury and Druid for healing, grace of the land and spotter. Chrono is also somewhat unique in the way that you barely lose any utility or personal dps by having them tank – which is why a lot of groups ask for chronotanks.

Guardian and Thieves probably have the hardest time getting into a raid.

Necros and Eles are better off, but are less desired since everything they can do can be covered just as well or better by another profession (epidemic from Necros on Gorseval is the one exception, but even that isn’t necessary).

Oh, and if you play ranger, but don’t want to heal, you don’t have a very good chance at making it in a raid either.

In no particular order

- Quickness/Alacrity Chronomancer buffer
- Quickness/Alacrity Chronotank
- Dagger/X Fresh Air Tempest
- Staff Tempest
- Aurahealer Tempest
- Condi Necro
- Condi Engineer
- Condi Scrapper Tank
- Druid Healer
- PS Beserker
- Condi Beserker
- Sword/X Herald
- DH Tank (for VG)

I think that’s most build/profession that people are looking for in raid. There is plenty of other build that work, but not preferred. Maybe I miss some.

Best thing you can do is have several characters you can swap around with. Be flexible. Especially if youre trying to play a less desired profession.

The DPS checks on some fights are not that tight. Especially when learning encounters; having extra livability, adding group livability, or simply having ease of play can help a lot in learning before you need to worry about shaving seconds off a kill time. Once your group is farming stuff down and wanna min/max it, go for it if people have the professions avail. Its a once a week lockout and most groups will only be saving a few minutes over the course of the entire raid; not enough to get in peoples faces for playing a non-meta profession.

You can play less dps meta stuff easily but those professions still have meta builds that arent that far behind ones that are. I dont really mind the burnzerker ‘meta’ atm, but groups that insist on bringing like ~4 of’m to a Gors kill and then bragging about it should honestly be ashamed. Its like back in the day with the wall-reflect on Lupi. Not an exploit, but.. come-on.. its def a gray area. Or at least something you shouldnt brag about. If its ever nerfed some of those groups will likely have issues even getting a Gors kill because they’ve relied so heavily on something moderately broken and OP. LOL
