What do you say to someone when...
I’d say “Could you please slot in -insert needed reflect utility skill here- for this?”. If they refused, I’d honestly consider kicking him. :\
You ask them nicely to use them anyway, despite it not being part of their “build”, which is kittening absurd. If they refuse, vote to kick. If the rest of your party is worth keeping they will second it. If no one else seconds the kick, I’d leave. It’s not worth the aggravation and failure. Reform your own group.
This is also the reason why I only play my Guardian when pugging fractals.
Honestly I don’t expect to be telling anyone what to do at lvl 49/50 fractals. When 3/5 of the group died on the bonfire part, I started running around in the campsite lighting the fire, trying to get out of combat. Then someone in the party said “run around and ooc please”, I was laughing a little. Then I realised the mesmer was dpsing the ice crystal thing already…after a while, I gave up telling him to stop attacking and just let him get killed by a structure so the rest of the group can res. XD
I guess there are always pugs like that, but about 90% of the times, the pug groups are very solid at lvl 50. I usually bring my guardian if the party doesn’t have one, but I saw the group had a guardian and a mesmer, so I brought my warrior.
This happens to me on daily basis when I don’t play my guardian. Majority of PUG guardians do not know their utility skills and blame party wipe on Ele, Ranger, Necro and/or Engineer. I met plenty of guardians who refused to use WoR and argued that shield 5 was much better… Also it is hard to find guardians who would provide aegis/stability at the right moment and blind during trash mob killing.
For some reason they never blame Warriors/Mesmers and insist that the whole party sucked. My guardian is my main, but its kinda sad that I have to play my guardian during PUGventures out of necessity.
In fractals I’ve seen some terrible, terrible guardians in fractal 49/50 using spirit sword and signet of mercy as utility through out the entire run. I was forced to change my character from warrior to guardian to prevent further party wipe/rage quit, which really sucked.

/kick. Selfish and stupid=kick.
Btw, captain America meta guardian incoming. Can’t wait.
Was doing CoE a few days ago and we ended up having to find a pug for the 5th man. A warrior joined so we asked if they could take both banners and EA. He replied “I use a might stacking build.” I then said “So If you are using PS you should also have EA.” We then pulled both groups and I immediately noticed he dropped Str and Tactics banner and no EA buff appeared. The pug was then promptly kicked from the group.
I’m always baffled by how stupid some people are.
But 10% boon duration OP!
I once had a warrior arguing with me that placing a warbanner just b4 the fight starts to gain fury is the best thing to do.
When I explained him its not, he insisted fury OP, so we need the warbanner.
Kick and never look back!
If I didn’t start the instance I’d grab my guardian and show them how to play one.
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?
Our blood has bought their lives.
Either kick them, or leave the group.

EA is a boring build and no one uses it anymore. You can look at all the videos from nike or brazil or anyone and you will not find then using EA.
People are sheep and just follow whatever the “meta” tells them to run.
Rather than, you know, stepping back for a moment and thinking “is this actually worth running”.
The little EA “fad” was something I refused to have a part in besides if I was forced to in guild runs before they finally figured out that it meant absolutely jack all and didn’t need to be used.
EA has always been a useless trait for any purpose other than when team is friends/guildmates all collectively going for record speedclears and FGSing. It’s always been trash, but people will be people.
When i see guard or mesmer not using their reflects.I will 1st ask them to start using them.If they don’t do it then i will kick them.Guardians and mesmers are for a specific reason in the group. To use reflecs/FB/aegis/portal plus some other things depending on the build they are using. If they are not doing it then they deserve a kick. The only exceptions are newbies with low AP.They can be excused for being a novice and not knowing the game.
That’s one of the few things that would get me to kick someone. Blatantly refusing to slot a utility that will make the fight a lot simpler for everyone involved for no other reason than being stubborn.
you may keep them to rear new and interesting variants in your basement.

I’m not seeing the problem.

Nothing wrong with that actually, especially if it’s just dungeon runs.
How do you get to lvl 50 FotM and think utilities are static? And how would a guard’s static utilities not include WoR?
O.o
Did you ask/notice what their build was? Spirit Weapons? AH/shouts? Were you getting carried by the mad healz off of their dodge rolls?
My favorite excuse was “I don’t use WoR, I’m DPS.” >.<
I already got the " It’s not part of my build" and “I don’t use WoR, I’m DPS”.. but did you met the infamous “WoR is useless I tried it and i still died” ? ( <10k ap guard in some dungeons pugging)
Anyways, I always try to explain their mistake, but since I either get called an elitist or just take an infraction if PvFing, your best bet is to just kick, block, and gearcheck.
Heh, I haven’t heard that one yet. But if they keep making projectiles unreflectable I’m sure we’ll (rightfully) hear that one more and more :-(

Don’t confuse neglecting with stupidity. Most people just don’t care. I don’t think that’s a big issue. Aside from this dungeons are rather easy so I really don’t care what others play. I only cringe a bit if I see bearbows. Btw: I don’t even know the term ‘EA’ though I don’t play warrior that often. Just to mention that.
Ah found it, empower allies, yeah I have that always traited.
‘would of been’ —> wrong

I give players tips on what skills/traits are helpful in certain dungeons/Fractals if they seem to be new, but I don’t mandate those skills, since I run non-meta builds myself and it would be hypocritical. (Usually for these dungeons, I will usually bring the class most crucial to success myself to fill the role, like how I always use my Mesmer for CM, or my Ele for AC.)
Usually even sub-par groups will get through the content eventually. I’ve never needed to actually kick someone; often the problem fixes itself when the player who isn’t pulling their weight ragequits.
wow havent you heard of dodging? why should i use up my utilities to reflect and protect you when i can use them for more dps? sounds like a l2p issue in your case
Sorry, It was a badly formulated joke, not to be taken seriously

I use Swirling Winds when guardians drop wall, just because kitten the law. 8-)
I spent countless gold crafting ascended assassins gear, hours of research optimizing my reflect dmg, even sacrificed my heal and all defensive utilities to get my Feedback hit so hard lupi would drop to his knees in my presence. The time has come to prove my worth in pve meta…
… and some ele uses his Swirling Winds.
How does one get to lvl 50 in fractals AS A GUARDIAN and say something like that?
Knights of ARES, Dragonbrand
Good times, good memories

It’s all good. No one’s upset.
It’s just that it’s truly baffling that there are people who actually think like that, and that makes many of us want to inject some reason into them. <:
I think this is an issue of that particular player’s mindset. Anyone who has some experience hopefully understands how dynamic a “build” is and that using specific utilities is not exactly a part of the build. That guy was unfortunately thinking skills are something static and what’s worse – he refused to learn and change his wrong attitude.
At that point, things come to YOUR mindset. Will you get over it and try to complete the dungeon with a bad person? Me personally, I would probably not hesitate to kick him out or (if the rest of the group wouldn’t be cooperative enough) leave the dungeon myself.
No matter the party requirements, when doing a lvl 50 fractal, there are simply things you expect automatically. I’ve run with terrible pugs many times, but most of the time, if I could get over it and explain the game to them, they at least were able to do what I told them. If someone is doing something completely wrong AND refuses to listen, he deserves nothing but kick.
As it was mentioned above, you would probably get to complete the dungeon later anyway, but I don’t see reason to go through this pain. There are plenty of experienced players out there (or at least players who can listen), so you don’t have to tolerate noobs getting on your nerves.
I sometimes slot EA in if the pug looks a bit dodgy but otherwise GS rest of the way, mainly cos I’m lazy
