I know for certain it is not a dungeon since it don’t count toward monthly dungeon achievement. It takes 4-6x longer to run fotm when compare to a regular dungeon, yet the boss don’t drop as much gold as a normal dungeon boss. You also can’t trade in ur fractal token for lvl80 exotic. My point is why fotm is so unrewarding?

Challenge, Prestige. Unique, high-end skins are available for weapons and the backpiece that are quite exclusive.

The drop rate of rare items is higher in the FotM chests than in the dungeon chests. And you can get ascended gear (rings) which cannot be bought with any dungeon tokens.
