What is the best strategy for the VG
If you are doing the circles you are generally semi ranged and condi so you just need to avoid the blue circles teleporting you away. The blue circles usually spawn near targets closest to the tank/boss so as long as you pay attention to those, you won’t get ported.
The boss always turns around his body when he is doing blue circle, you can pay attention to that tell too.
Make sure to activate the graphic option “eccect lod”, which limits all the graphical skill effects from your allies because I find it pretty hard to see the blue circles when there are tons of aoes on top of them.
Once I unchecked this option because otherwise I couldn’t see the guardian traps in pvp and forgot to turn it on again afterwards and I was getting ported pretty often and just didn’t know what was suddenly going on until i remembered about this graphic option.
To be fair, if you keep getting teleported, you probably are NOT doing great DPS =p
Anyway, random teleportation is what happens when you got hit by the blue circles when they go off. They went off like 2 seconds after they first appear. You can walk away from them, dodge them (though if you dodge too early you may actually land right when they go off), or jump over them (I don’t recommend this). Try to stay in green circle though, as in don’t panicly dodge out when you see blue circle under you inside green.
BTW, some times kitten happens like everything just appears at once: red orb, green circle and blue circle all spawning at the same position. Times like this you just hope for the best, but at least try to dodge the blue, because at least if you’re downed, people can easily ress you if you’re at a spot near everyone.
Run 2 healers, 1 in each team. can’t go wrong. Unless your green team is… well.. challenged.
During the last 33% blues are spawned under each person every ~10 secs. Stay out of the green circle until it is half done then step in for the last 2secs. You can also dodge across the diameter of the green circle and still count for damage reduction while evading the teleport, blocks work, any evade works, distortion works, aegis works. Just don’t try to aegis 2 blues.
For your specific problem with getting teleported out of the green lightning circle, there are two ways you can deal with it. The first is to have the lightning team not enter the green circle until a little bit before it goes off. Since the blue lightning targets player locations, it will not spawn in the green lightning circle if no one is in it. Even if the blue lightning begins to spawn in the green lightning circle after everyone moves it, the green lightning will go off first and you can just dodge the blue.
If people have trouble with that, the second solution is to have everyone who goes into the green lightning stack on top of each other. This will ensure that, if blue lightning spawns, the blue lightning will be concentrated in one place and the lightning team can just move to the other side of the green circle. This is less reliable but easier to get people to actually do.
In general, things you can do to help not miss the lightning are:
1.) Send 5 people. The DPS required on VG is really low, and so there is little incentive not to send an extra person.
2.) Use mobility skills. A lot of classes can afford to drop a dps skill for a movement skill if you are having trouble with the green lightning because, again, the required dps is pretty low. For example, you can take rocket boots over bomb kit on a condi engineer.
3.) Have good boss movement. Move the guardian ahead of time, even if this means taking some damage from the electrified floor, in order to guarantee a predictable lightning spawn. Your team isn’t going to wipe to a few ticks of floor damage, they’re going to wipe to half the lightning team being out of position.
4.) In the same vein as 3, make sure you are breaking the guardian’s bar almost instantly. This allows the tank to move the boss as needed and will prevent lightning spawning on an electrified floor or having a 50/50 chance to spawn in the wrong zone.
EDIT: You can also dodge across the diameter of the green circle as slydevil said above. This works extremely well if you can position yourself right and have good timing on the dodge.
Wow thanks for all the great tips guys. I literally did NOT know that the blues spawn directly under the players. That was pretty much my problem. I’m running Burnzerker atm. I occassionaly run Chrono too, but most people seem to want me to bring the warrior.
