I’ve been gone since like November because I’ve been really busy. Can someone gimme an exotics vs ascended gear breakdown?

Exotics vs Ascended zerkers accessories:

Bonus of a little power. About 5 or 10 or so. Makes you hit just a teensy bit harder.

Bonus of 5 precision: 5 precision is just under what is required to raise your crit chance by 1% at 80. Barely anything. Might tip you over the edge if you’ve got the right amount of precision but 1% is hardly going to win you a fight you couldn’t win before and it’s not going to finish a dungeon any tangible amount quicker either.

Crit damage increase of 1%. I’ll leave you to mull that over, it’s not exactly unwelcome but I wouldn’t call it a game changer either: if I were to hit for 1000 then a crit would have 10 extra damage on it.

In my opinion: Not worth the effort if you don’t want to do it, but if you want to stay competitive stats-wise and think a little bonus like that (times 6, mind, because there are 6 ascended slots currently – it adds up) is required, then go for it. Otherwise I wouldn’t bother.

More is coming though, and when we’ve got a full set we’re kind of looking at a rare>exo bonus at that point.

I personally think that in this game, at least a lot, skill>stats by a fair amount. WoW players and Anet apparently didn’t, so ascended was introduced.

Ascended are statistically superior and rely on massively time gated content.

Better stats for your char. Now you can get an entire set on every part of your body. Playing fractals, guild goals , laurels. This is what you would call “endgame”, wear the entire ascended set with stats you need. The final result is a higher performance when the set is complete. Needs a lot of effort and maybe weeks and weeks of work (laurels needs dailies+monthly, quite a long goal). Funnily, you will not get any respect nor a preferral choice joining a group even having a full ascended set, noone respect anyone on this game about anything, not even wearing a legendary, go figure.

Why would you demand respect for wearing ascended or legendaries? Any prick with a lot of spare time can get those so i see no direct connection between good items and respect. Respect is earned, but not with stats…

Also, who wants respect in a video game? Really now….

Old school i guess, looking your answer. Your post is the typical attitude nowadays, don’t worry. New generation forgot the meaning of the word respect about everything, let’s not mention respect a pro walking near you on an mmo.
Someone who spent a lot of time ingame (way more than the usual mass around) who shine because of his armor,weapons, title, whatever symbolizing the difference. Basically the pure spirit of a graphic mmo, we all play for shinies and be “the best”.
This pro is just an idiot like any other for you, why respect him, right? How the hell he would know 100 times better than you the game. Except he do
Same apply for a full ascended set. Requires A LOT of time and dedication, ingame.
Not something you go to buy to the merch after your first log for sure.

But i have to agree to a part of your post: any prick with some free time can get the entire set. This game is so poorly designed to not give anything ingame worthy nor something could make you be CLEARLY superior. The core feeling of an mmo.
Even a noob with some free time not even moving out of LA can wear a legendary weapon, just playing the TP a bit and buying a preforged one, not even knowing a kitten of his skills lol, go figure
That’s why everyone is so sick of legendaries , i guess. It’s the only way to “shine” between the mass. Shame they are an other design fail, and loads have one. Exploited, gained, bough scamming someone with the TP not even moving out of LA from day 1, whatever

So OP, as you see, ascended gear is just a pink object with higher stats and requiring a lot of time, that’s all. Soon, ascended will be autoupdated to the pink color and upper stats too.

I hope you’re being ironic. I really do.

Nothing “pro” about grinding. Ascended, legendary, nothing there takes skill – all patience. There’s no “bar” you have to reach, you just do things for a long time.

Arah gear gets some respect, maybe. They have to have done Lupi/Arah which is not easy. WvW uniques get respect from me because it means they must have actually been able to kill people (too many badges to JP farm). Legendaries? Nah. Ascended? Sure is hard up in fotm 10.

Sadly, i agree. We both agree this game is heavily poor designed, everyone speding time ingame will have everything, there is nothing unique, except maybe my armor, as you said. At least , still a proof of knowledge. And my title , maybe.
So fun when i meet players pretending to tell me how to play the content or barely assuming i’m playing not as expected, just because my phone rang lol
A shame some abused of tokens for weeks wearing part of this armor or even a full set, not even having any barely idea of what was going on after that stone jumped using a glitch.

First of all, we seem to have different opinions on what is required to get these “pro” items. Ascended stuff is really easy to get. Back piece and rings, you can get carried by 4 other players in fotm and bam! You got them. Does it look pro to you?

Ascended earrings… they are “harder” to get simply because there is a time gate on them with the guild missions and such. Again, no skill required to obtain them.

Legendary weapon… tell me one thing that requires skill when farming and grinding for the mats. One thing and i will back up. But there is none…

Second… where all this “respect” in a video game? How can you respect some pixels? Because you dont know the person that moves those pixels. I understand respect in a very different way then you it seems. If there would be some people that deserve respect in this game, one of them would be wethospu. Not because he is full ascended and carries 15 legendaries. But because he has proven his skill in many ways and he may deserve respect from the whole community. But even so, i wouldnt call it proper respect, just some kind of appreciation of his skill and work.

Well tbh. As someone who grinded their legendary almost purely through running dungeons, I can say it’s certainly made me a better dungeon player. Doing it this way required me to contribute as much as possible to the party to make those runs go faster and more efficiently. I had many gear sets I would run through, each for a different situation, and was constantly changing up traits to refine the perfect build for each dungeon.

On the other hand, I know someone who pretty much spent a ton of real life money and bought the whole thing. He’s an awful player.

I’ll never understand what ‘respect’ is in a video game either. I got my legendary because it was pretty, not to intimidate people or get ‘respect’. Same goes for commander titles and T3 gear. They don’t mean kitten. You don’t know how people got the money for those things. Who cares what anyone thinks online anyway :/

I guess i wasn’t clear, i agree with both of you. Nothing on this game is a proof of knowledge nor “be a pro”. Not even my armor, considering how it was exploited.
Just a matter of time and you get everything on this game. This game is so poorly designed to give away even ascended items. I guess the “pro” i meant was the one who played more hours than others. Maybe the dungeon master title is some form of “proish knowledge of the game”? It’s supposed to have a higher knowledge of the game, as much clearly a lot of players even playing 18 hours per day with 3 legendaries will remains hopeless junk.

We gave the answer to the OP yet, and in case it got confused it was: Ascended gear is some gear with pink text, higher stats, and collect the entire set require a lot of time online (not too much). Not absolutely needed, but clearly better than the typical common set obtainable ingame. If interested, go for it.
