What's your fastest Lupus kill?
My team and I are still practicing, but 4:07 is our fastest with 2 warriors, 1 guardian, 1 mesmer, and 1 thief. We’re still sloppy at phase 2 and 3 with so many teammates being downed, but at least the recoveries are fast. :P
Curious on this as well. Would be pretty cool to know what the fastest kill is
Theres a few kills on strife’s videos of a full melee party doin something like ~2min to kill.
On Strife’s path 4 video they kill Lupus in 2 minutes and 50 seconds. Myself and a group of guildies I regularly run Arah with have managed to do it in 2 minutes and 46. :P
Technically if you were going for fastest kill, I think a 4 warrior + 1 mesmer group could probably kill him the fastest and do it in about 2-2:15 min assuming everyone was on the same page and you didn’t get more then 1 or 2 Invuln hover moves in phase 3.
Would have been easier pre-Jan 28th though since you could slot frenzy on warriors instead of stability.
That being said, you could possibly try with 1 guard instead of 1 warrior and make him use his balanced stance for the first bubble on any party member and let the warriors go for full frenzy and maybe endure pain instead of any stability so they get one free bubble life. If you’re killing him that fast you probably wouldn’t see more then 2 bubbles on one person anyways.
I dunno, I haven’t specifically tried for fastest GL kill.

I think you’d get better results with having 1 guardian instead of 4 warriors since reflecting his frenzied blast on phase 3 takes away a decent chunk of his health

Yea that’s true, it just depends on how fast he does it in phase 3. I think in some of my videos feedback was up again for his blast attack in p3 because he didn’t do it immediately.
The fastest kill time on him probably has a large part to do with his attacks and rotations in p3.
Either way, 1/3/1 or 4/1 is probably going to be the fastest overall, I just don’t care enough to test it out right now :p.

Sadly the biggest deciding factor to the few seconds difference on record time comes down to RNG. How lucky you are of skills he chooses to pick in phase 3. If you’re lucky, he wont cast the large siphon attack as well as having his barrage reflected back at him
Its very group comp dependent. I’ve been with tanky groups who take a while but never go down or have a problem getting back up, and I’ve done it with glass cannon groups who go down frequently but burn him faster.
I think the better metric would be how efficient a group is, but I don’t mind any time for the most part as long as the group play is solid throughout the entire experience.
11 minutes 29 seconds solo. Make a party comprised of 5 of me and that’s roughly 2.3 minutes.
Seriously though, when I’m doing arah I’m not really in a rush because I’m not there to farm, I’m there because it’s fun and I want the tokens. I’d rather a safe run of lupi than a fast one, so we’re not looking to speed run it. Hell, I’ll switch to my soldiers set just so I can afford to make mistakes because what’s an extra 5 minutes on an arah run
really bad engineer
And here’s our personal record of 2:20 minutes.
World record?
One time my 5 man group dun did killed him in 3 hours. Now we doesn’t afraid of anything!
And here’s our personal record of 2:20 minutes.
World record?
I must show my guild. Maybe they’ll listen to me to melee?
Saladtha (Lv 80 salad sidekick to bears) | Dunelle (Lv 80 eviscerating muppet)
Karmell (Lv 80 human might dispenser) | Vast says hi~.
And here’s our personal record of 2:20 minutes.
World record?
1) Why everyone dodges at phase1 even when grub is clearly targeted at someone?
2) Why dodge backwards?
3) Why get hit by kick?
4) Why did Lupicus get grub?
5) Why warriors have no banners, “On My Mark!” etc?
6) Why did you tank life-steal (like run forward to go faster)?
- Try to figure out who gets bubbles and have everyone else stay behind.
Fix these things and then record it.
Your [Feedback] has been noted. We’ll work on itâ„¢.

They killed Lupicus in 2 mins 20 seconds – that is why.

Weth has very valid points, some of which I didn’t notice while doing the kill. I’m positive we can do a 2-minute kill if we apply ourselves and Lupus stops being a little kitten and does what we want him to.
Full offensive warrior can do it in ~6 minutes so including time for phase changes and his AoE life drain but also counting your reflections and timewarp (which I believe you could try using in phase 3 instead of phase 2) it should be doable in about 100s. Two people are able to kill him in 5 minutes and that’s with elementalist and 12 stacks of empower. If you want to do it even faster you should also consider swapping your guardians for something more offensive unless they run full zerkers with something like 20/25/0/25/0.
i wonder if feedback and wall of reflection on a single barrage doubles the amount of damaged reflected? or is one negated by the other?
Poor beast, looks much better!
I can see you easily getting sub 1:30 with lucky skill rotation, bit more offense and bit better game-play.
Curious, what build Warriors are using? And have you considered elite Banner on Warriors?

Not really sure on the other guys builds but admittedly I, as the asuran guardian of the group am gimped for the sole reason that I enjoy to play that way.
I use
- 0/5/30/30/5
- Magi (Power/Vitality/Healing power) gear
- 3 Monk / 3 Water
- Soldiers main hands / Knights off hands (Scepter / Shield : Sword / Torch)
- (Because of the crap selection of ascended gear for guardians forcing you between toughness or precision when as a guardian you need both) I use:
– Ascended Soldiers neck
– Ascended Wayfarer/Zerker rings
– Exotic Cleric/Knight accessories
– Wubwub Cleric backpack with Knight jewel
(Ideally I would like to keep my Soldiers neck, gain 2 infused Knights rings with +healing infusion and the same for my Accesories/Backpack.)
I enjoy the way that my character plays 100%, great survivability and altruistic healing works well (would work better with the right accessories). But in no means have I specced myself to bring lupus down. I really don’t enjoy the hammer/GS meta builds before you suggest them.
Nice job on the 1:46.
I’ll see if some people in my guild want to try in a 1/3/1 group. I have some ideas on how to make it faster after watching your video.

dat feedback…. I’m gonna have to look into that one…
Great job though – that’s some pretty quick time.
Edit: “looking into” things doesn’t mean I’m going to do something about it – just look into it and make sure it is desired functionality. Thanks for the PMs folks.

You chose to play faceroll build and are complaining about what exactly? You can solo him with your current traits/gear. It’ll take some time (circa 30-40 minutes) though.

There’s no need to alter Lupus’ projectile behavior.

Full DPS, banner elites are not needed. The only non-DPS utility I used for the kill was BStance.
Perhaps I’m wrong but doesn’t elite banner give everyone 100% Fury and 6 Might? (I will test this later unless corrected)
3 warriors achieve 96% Fury uptime with instant cast FGJ and way over 100% with Signet of Rage. I think it’s vastly preferable over a 2-second cast banner elite.
Perhaps I’m wrong but doesn’t elite banner give everyone 100% Fury and 6 Might? (I will test this later unless corrected)
The banner gives 100% uptime on swiftness and fury. Every three seconds it gives one might stack that lasts 12 seconds which means you won’t get more than 4 might stacks from one banner. Not to mention that once the one minute duration has expired you won’t be able to use it for the rest of the fight.
So 3.5 Might party-wide. I admit it’s not that great anymore.
Cast-time is irrelevant if you use it before Lupicus wakes up and during transitions. Two banners: 100% (Fury), Swiftness, 3.5 Might party-wide compared to two SoR: 50% (Fury), Swiftness, 5 (2.5) Might on two players only.
Benefit of swiftness is arguable but it does help a bit.

How did you calculate that?
Planted Battle Standard. Watched Might fluctuate between 3 and 4.

Great, turn that party into 5 warriors by nerfing the only reason besides time warp why a mesmer would be brought in.
Maybe it’s the warrior numbers that need to go down, not the feedback damage.
Yeah, they should buff Feedback so that Lupicus goes straight to 0%.

EU fun confirmed for biggest bros
Have you considered really pushing it? I see you weren’t running skale venom or other such consumables in either vid. It might only add 2-3 seconds but if you’re pushing for a record that will matter.
really bad engineer
Have you considered really pushing it?
Gotta get our tactic down perfectly first.
Here was our attempt:
We used general sigils btw (pretty much accuracy and force), so it could probably be pushed even further if someone wants to actually buy Sigil of Undead weapons.
A big part of maximizing dps is just his rotation, we actually got him to almost dead once @ 1:31 but he did no barrage in p3 and used his float in the air invuln move twice, so we knew we could do way better.

That’s pretty impressive. There’s one thing puzzling me though, shouldn’t he turn invulnerable when he reaches 50% of his health?
I always thought he’d immediately turn invulnerable once he started transitioning into the third phase, but apparently they either changed that or there’s a 1-2 second timer before he turns invuln.

No, he turns invulnerable when he goes into his holding his face type animation that is the transition from p2 → p3. He doesn’t just automatically go invuln at 50%.
Depending on when he does his AoE and your burst potential while in feedback, you can dps as much as possible until he finishes his AoE animation and goes into p3.
If you watch some of my Arah walkthrough guides that were made about a month ago the same thing happens, just not to this degree since we weren’t trying to maximize dps and speed clear him at that time.

That’s nice to know. I never really paid a whole lot of attention to his health percentage when he turned invulnerable
