I do not think it was done with explicit intent to stop path selling. They do this a lot with random dungeons *cough*tafu*cough* when they feel the need to make things difficult.

As for the changes, meh. It happens.

I think there was no need to change anything in Arah at all other than fixing the exploits.Just because ppl post videos of them doing an arah path and making it look easy doesnt mean its going to be easy for everyone else.Some Arah pug runs go great but most goes bad. Alot of ppl rage quit at Lupicus and now there is going to be more rage quit at the next boss after Lupicus.

Why remove the waypoint for?What if a group wipes at the Abomination Boss?Why make groups do a long kitten run back again to the Boss?Plus the waypoint that spawns after killing the first boss (Arah P2) has a deadeye and like 3 risens lurking around it.Most pugs dont even notice the deadeye lurking at the waypoint until its to late.I understand the need to make dungeons more challenging but as far as it goes Challenging=Rage quit/members start blaming each other..etc…

The waypoint isn’t actually gone. It appears after you defeat the berserker abomination, in case you like going backwards in dungeon paths.

Even if you try to do it the normal way, the abominations can now charge you through the defense golem’s shield bubble, making it impossible to get through by the normal way.

They always charged through the golem’s bubble. You’re supposed to use the #2 skill on the rifles to insta-kill them.

After you beat the berserker abomination, 2 waypoints appear. The one in the tar elemental room as well as the one after the spider run. So the run from the waypoint to Lupi is the same in this path as always.

They always could go through the bubble which is one of the reasons why people used to just ignore the golem suits altogether. Use stability or blind.

Lawl. They felt like it could’ve been useful. You never know.
I’m trying really hard to convince myself it was all a mistake, caused by their rush in trying to stop path selling and to make Arah err… more… challenging and fun.. /cough
I wonder: will Arah p2 – in a few months or years – end up being a tafu v 2.0? Like, there-are-some-things-to-fix-let’s-remove-it? I haven’t had enough golems, lasers and aetherblades with the new fractals, I’d like more, please.
P.S. Alphard now is actually good material for giggles. As it was already said, laughs and moderate trouble on the first time for decent teams, nightmare for pugs. I feel like they missed their target… again? Or maybe the target was to simply be annoying. Or, uh… spice things up? Have pugs ragequit before and after Lupi, to favor team flexibility and more uses of the lfg? Hell knows.

I just really want to know why these changes were made. If it was truly to discourage sellers, then that’s a shame. Trying to rid the game of a flaw in how the system works that designers don’t particularly like is better dealt with head-on—by, say, banning the practice as a game policy—than by some passive-aggressive retaliatory change that frustrates the masses.

I’m just frustrated because they did nothing but make Alp more difficult—not more interesting. You don’t need “skill” or ingenuity to defeat him, you just need luck and the ability to dodge really quickly (and, hopefully, endurance that regenerates quickly). Just kinda dumb.

It’s pathetic how much you all are crying because they made the path have a modicum of difficulty. By the way, there’s a hole in the wall in the room with all the spiders so you dont have to use the golem and you don’t have to walk through the electric wall, something you might have noticed if you weren’t trying to brainlessly exploit your way through it like you usually do.

They made these changes because you could literally skip 100% of the trash in the entire path and even finish the dungeon solo which is a poor reflection of the fact that it is the final dungeon and a poor reflection of the fact that it awards 3 gold, the same as the other legitimately difficult dungeons.

Apparently there was some attempt to stop path selling, but it’s completely botched (which I guess isn’t surprising).

There’s no waypoint after the spider cave, and the electric field kills anyone trying to cross it (even Guardians with RF and Shelter have trouble making it). Even if you try to do it the normal way, the abominations can now charge you through the defense golem’s shield bubble, making it impossible to get through by the normal way.

Not to sound rude, but impossible for you <> impossible for everyone.
Actually, we just skipped to abomination. Doable. More difficult than before though.
…and this will certainly not stop selling P2.

Getting through without the golem to the Abom is possible for a solo Mes via chain stealth, easier if you trait for Far-Reaching Manips first.

All the classes that could make it through that cave solo can still do it. The problem is there is no waypoint for the rest of the party. This actually encourages more path sellers, as average pugs and first time groups will have a very tough time making it through the cave with more than 3 members while people who just solo the path are not hindered in the least unless they die between the cave and the abom.

Sounds like you can just have a mesmer run through then portal the party past the gate instead of WPing.

The only thing Anet has done (which is the majority of the changes made) is to make it a slight inconvenience for optimized groups while making it a headache and a hassle for PUGs.

They also seem to really like mesmers. with 15 in illusions and the signet heal, you can now permanently nullify all of belkas and alphards attacks. Well, not the pushback, but that’s like 1k damage per 30 seconds.

I actually don’t mind the change, but what is farcical is now how obvious it has become that groups of pugs were being 100% carried by a WP runner. I think last night my four idiots were deathrunning WP for 10 minutes before someone (luckily a Mesmer) made it. Plenty of time to solo…except that pugs can’t stand waiting. They’d rather waste that same 10 minutes stabilizing the economy by steadily removing gold from it for repairs, than save their money AND their tears.

Absolutely farcical.

(But I do understand this only reaches as far as people who often pug. I know you don’t Guan $$$)

I might start charging for Watchwork Portal services.

If you can’t get past that tunnel it’s your problem not ANet’s, you don’t even have to run past the turret.

It’s hilarious hearing people complain about the new p2 in arah. Maybe you should just stick to cof and ac.

The runs arent hard if you know ur class and time ur abilities, the new instantaneous explosion pull is very easy to anticipate. More cannon fodder for me.
