Dear ArenaNet,

if I recall correctly, the reason you capped fractals at level 49 was that you never intended people to get so far with the 30 AR that we had at this time. By now, we have access to 55 AR and if the agony scaling continued as it did before the hard cap, we would be able to survive levels 50-59 without problems (with coordinated healing, even higher). So here are my questions:

Q1: Are we able to do levels 50+ already? (I don’t want to find out again by trying.)
Q2: If not, are you considering reopening them, and when will this be?

you’re not able to do them right now and I am considering reopening them but this will be once I finish university and get hired as the new dungeon team Anet is planning on setting up around 2018.

In all seriousness though, no, you can not enter it yet, but I believe that they are planning on opening the higher levels, atleast some of them, with the release of the molten facility/aetherblade and thaumanova reactor fractals, which are schedualed to be released before the year ends.

You can level up by having someone with a higher lvl open it for you, and just do unevens so do you don’t have to face Jade Maw. You can still get to lvl 80 like that.

But for what? Cleansing Zhaitan’s corruption throughout whole Orr is much more fun and most important more rewarding. Not to mention it’s also challenging.

I really hope that the new fractals come with big changes to stupid parts of fractals (dredge, lol) and changes for high level fractals … making them rewarding, less RNG and so on.

Thanks for all your answers. I am fully aware that we can still get to level 80 by doing uneven levels, and I also hope for the Thaumanova release to address this whole issue. I was just hoping to squeeze out an official statement. Btw, as a huge GW fanboy “soon™” would fully satisfactory for me ;-)

Because lvl 79 Fractals is the only challenging content in the game. Orr stuff isn’t a challenge :/ But Fractals has amazingly terrible loot though.

He’s not exactly being serious, you can see that in his signature too.

i asked myself the same question many times but then why would it matter? There’s no fractal weapons 2.0 that drop only at lev50+ and all other drops are as mediocre as farming cows in Queensdale. Before they unlock the barrier, they better 1- add new skins only available in fotm 2- significantly increase the quality of drops from mobs and chests. until this is done, there’s zero reasons to even bother with old fractals and the boring fractal weapons
