I feel incredibly sorry for everyone who needs to use PUGs to complete dungeons, especially after seeing THIS:

Not only was the poor guy kicked, but it wasn’t for any reason— the kicker knew in advance that he planned to do this, and sell the resulting spot for gold. He even had the gall to show up on reddit to try to defend his despicable behavior.

Dungeon kicking needs a huge change. First of all, the dialog to kick someone is biased in favor of kicking—it’s the green checkmark that kicks, not the red cancel button. And it only takes 2 people! So two jerks who know each other can easily ruin the day of 3 innocent people.

Some combination of the following needs to happen:

• A kick dialog interface that has options like “Keep” and “Kick”, not yes and no, where Kick is Red and Keep is Green (right now the green option kicks, which is terrible, people hit it by default)

• A kick dialog interface that asks EVERYONE in the party for their opinion, with 3 out of 4 needed for a successful kick.

• A kick dialog interface (when in an instance only) that requires a REASON to be typed in by the kick initiator

• A logging system that records kicks from in-progress dungeons, and removes kick-initiation for abusers

• A report option for griefing (it’s not listed in the report interface!)

The griefing and abuse has gone on for long enough. And no, I don’t have a personal stake in this— I pugged one dungeon, ever, and had no issues. I just can’t believe this is happening to my fellow players. This is ridiculous and needs to be addressed.

Please, please, please tell us changes are incoming!

I just want to point out:

Some guy on a throwaway account came onto reddit acting comically villianish and talked about kicking the guy. This could just as likely be a guy trying to make him look bad as it was the actual guy admitting what he did.

Just become someone logs on and says “That was me, I did it” on a completely anonymous account doesn’t mean that he was, in fact, the one who did it.

That being said: That guy was a total kittenbag.

You can’t really even demonstrate that the person making the reddit post was kicked. Path 2 Arah is pretty easily soloable / duoable, so it’s entirely possible the poster wanted to troll the person selling spots and give them a bad name just for the fun of it. There are plenty of people that get mad and rage when they see path 2 sellers and want to be white knights about it, and there are plenty of people that want to abuse the lack of brain cells on reddit for loads of upvotes. I’ve had a friend kicked out of his spot selling runs by people that didn’t think he should be selling the spots, so they join as a pair and kick him after he’s invested loads of time soloing the path.

Also, people have been posting about the dungeon kick system since the beginning of time, and it doesn’t look like it will ever change. Sure it has problems, but other systems will have problems and people will complain about those systems too. I don’t really see any point in Anet fixing it.

I’m completely expecting to be flamed into oblivion for this post, but if people thought rationally (like people on reddit are incapable of) we wouldn’t have to deal with people complaining about trivial things that don’t really happen.

In my Arah p3 on NA servers with pugs i’ve almost been kicked for going for Hunter instead of Crusher first. They all made jokes of me being a firsttimer, not even watching brazil’s videos, until they died on ranging lupicus.
Brazil, do something about that! They would have all died by poison if i did not kill the hunter!

A friend of mine told me about a certain duo that can’t kill lupi so they pay 0.5-1g to the people that would help them do that. They can’t even skip him.

Yeah. And he even helped them proceeding.

But people have to stop doing the things I don’t like other people doing!

I got kicked out of a pug after they wiped on Lupicus and I solo’d phase 2 and 3 with my Mesmer. Through the whole fight they spammed chat telling me to wipe so we could retry and for me to stop slowing them down, and once I killed Lupicus I saw the loading screen. I didn’t even get the chest :/

Well, if you were silent the entire time and giving absolutely no explanation as to what was going on, I might kick you, myself. I don’t care if someone’s being awesome or doing something effective, lack of communication sucks balls.

… But that’s primarily because a lot of people that think they’re amazing at speedclearing stuff assumes everyone’s on board with them, automatically start going the speedclear route, die, and in the process get everyoen else killed because they didn’t communicate.

In that same instance, if I watched you kill Lupicus while everyone else was downed, I don’t think I’d be a kittenbag and kick you. If I was going to have kicked you, I’d have done it well before that point. Not AFTER you carried my scrub butt.

That Ember was about 300% of my damage. It would have taken days without it

Someone told me about that after I wasted 30 minutes with the dart gun… I was very depressed afterwards.

I haven’t tried a flamethrower since release, did it get better? I always felt like I couldn’t get it to work and started using grenades and bombs. I did a good sixty levels of flamethrowering, though.

Not the poor engi flamethrower.

Crud, I thought as much. It’s just so… not the grenade kit.

Well, he was solo’ing lupi, it’s not like he had plenty time to chat with the scrubs he was carrying…

As for this thread.. People will whine about just about anything. Even if the 3 vote kick system gets introduced, people will whine. Who are you to tell that the guy didn’t get kicked because he was absolutely terrible, fabricated his story, made the throwaway and posted himself. Who are you to tell that he wasn’t someone who tried to mooch of a dungeon runner? I mean, it’s not completely unlikely what he’s saying, but we have absolutely nothing but his word for it.

This isolated case is not good evidence that a new system is required for the kick system. It has it’s flaws, so does the 3-kick system probably. And even with the 3 kick system, people will be griefed.

After reading all of your enlightening posts, I realize that the kick system is terrible and that obvious changes needed to be made to fix it, AND that the people who posted here are jaded and bored.

I have an idea: since everything is terrible all the time and always will be, let’s not fix anything. Also, since people are terrible and always lie and make things up, let’s just assume that nothing bad has ever happened to anyone in the history of time. It’s totally more likely that people are jerks who lie than that people are jerks who abuse the kick system. Also, what happened in this particular case is clearly of the utmost importance to the main point of the thread, which is that the kick system is terrible and that obvious changes need to be made to fix it.

What happened in this particular case is entirely unverified and reading the reddit post makes it look more and more like the event was madeup. I know if -I- kicked someone from my party to sell a dungeon spot, I wouldn’t then go onto reddit to gloat about it like some Saturday Morning Cartoon villain.

I agree, however, that it really should have been a 3-of-5 majority vote for kicking. I guess keeping it to 2 avoids having to do tricky programming for, like, if you only have 3 people or something.

I also agree that bad stuff -could- have happened and maybe -has- happened, however your post wasn’t that this stuff -could- happen, it’s that it’s happening a lot and there’s a sudden rash of it all over GW2! “The griefing and abuse has gone on for long enough.”

But I’ve personally only seen unverified accounts of this and kinda bristle at reactionary people as I’m sure other people on this forum do, so it’s a little hard to take it seriously.

I also notice the original reddit post was removed and the goofy villain posts were all deleted. Which makes it look a bit like someone else caught on, too.

I’ve seen enough stupid here to ever want to venture onto Reddit. I hear its even worse over there >_>. The one time I went over there was because someone called me out for kicking him in his Magic find gear. I had a bloody field day I can tell you.

hmm it must have been like 5 months ago now, I wonder if i can find it XD. I know his OP got removed at some point because it was against their rules but I think the comments are still there, including rage from him and some other guy. I think the best part was, it was a cof P1, and I kicked him after he got his reward so we wouldn’t have to carry him for P2, and he popped a forehead vessel so hard I coulda sworn I heard the blood splattering on his monitor from all the way over in Australia.

I’ve been solo/duoing arah p2 and p3 and selling spots to people in the last few days. Legit runs, lupi killed and all.
Some people would just randomly whisper me and say they’d report me for scamming. Probably happened about 3 or more times in the last 4 days.

Are you the one paying people money to help at lupi? I just ask because you’re kind of the only seller who is not skipping lupicus (which is a good thing).
I’ve lately even been reported for giving away spots on AC runs with a side note “some tip is appreciated”. Just don’t take those kittens serious.

No, so far i’ve always soloed lupi, because my friend always bailed out on me at that part and i only put ads up to gw2lfg when i’m actually at the final boss. US servers, btw.
