Which class for raid healer?
My team uses tempest ele.
Anything can work really. What it takes is 10 geared players who are good with their class and knoe how the raid encounter work. That is the true challange and affects healing required.
I play druid and try to do my best to keep up grace of the land as much as possible as it can increase raid damage up to 15% in short intervals, as well with raid damage boosting utilities (while tanking). Im sure other healers have their own stuff to bring, play what you like, but more importantly find the right people to play with otherwise itll be a painful and lengthy experience.
As above poster though, tempest is really what else ive seen. You have ventari revenant, but i have yet to see one.

I have tried to love Druid but the latest Celestial Avatar is just… …nevermind… (I really did tried)
Anyway, I know Druid is rather good as a healer, particularly in the Celestial Avatar form. But it is more of a burst heal, from what I can tell so far. So in terms of healing-per-second, it might be just as good as some other classes using dedicated healing gears.
So, which other classes can fill in the role of a healer in raid?

I suspect druid may beat the other options in total raw healing output, but other classes bring other benefits. For instance, a tempest ele may put out less healing in total, but they spam so much Protection and Frost Aura that they don’t have as much to heal to begin with. Their heals probably average out to be comparable, as they aren’t reliant on a form with a recharge time to use their best heals. DPS may be another point of comparison, given that healers are usually still trying to do as much damage as they can.
I’ve heard of druids, tempest eles, Ventari druids, and even a guardian fulfilling the healing role, though I haven’t had enough experience to tell you how successful they all are. Any of the above can probably work in the right conditions, depending on the player and party composition.
Yes, I agree. My experience is that Druid is more or less a “brute-force” healer. Another good thing is that Ranger no matter what can still maintain a baseline level of damage via pets.
Other healers offer something slightly different each, which makes brute-force healing unnecessary. But in order to do so, they lose out a bit more dps, comparing to Druid.
Druid seems to be a better deal since dps is rather essential against the timer.
I have just tried using Ventari in WWW (he is not geared up for raid yet). Ventari is a rather interesting case since, if your fingers are fast enough, you can actually heal AND still actively use your weapon for steady dps at the same time. If energy runs out, swap to Glint for Regen, Protection, Fury and Might boons whilst again maintain weapon dps. But it is slightly more hectic than Druid. May be that is why I do not see that many Ventari around…
Druid. I can get my Celestial Avatar form off for each green circle in VG. It needs to be used perfectly though. You need to get out of CA form right after the lightning hits so it can be off CD when the next circle pops up.

I find tempest healing ele the best, gave the build to guildie shortly before our first raid and he did well even though I didn’t explain how to play it.
Friend’s party with a druid and I barely saw any heals between the burst heals and by then, it was late for me. Maybe druid has more raw heals (haven’t tested it so can’t really tell) but I think it needs more from the player to provide the heals needed when needed. Tempest ele just oozes delicious heals all the time.

Tempest healer seems OK on the first boss, but all of the raid encounters are DPS races, and Druid gives DPS boosts, so Druid is better.
