It’s actually a trick question.

TA – Guard

Fractals – Warrior
Really have no idea where to put a Eng to good use so i dint bother to make one :/

AC – ele (Frostbow on burrows is nice)
CM – Thief (stealth is nice for the skips)
TA – Guardian ( I like the staff for taking out the blossoms)
SE – Ranger
CoF – Mesmer (I like the portal for path 1)
HoTW – Engi i guess, it had to go somewhere
COE – Necro- ( You can do story mode in 5 minutes using a necromancer trick :P )

I would switch the Engi with the Ranger because Aquaman!

This is generally how i run things. I use mesmer a lot for the dungeons where reflects make everything ez. Mes perma reflects ftw.

CM-Theif, pretty obvious choice i’d think
TA- High Toughness Guard (if you do it right you can make the wurm fight stupid easy)
SE- Mesmer, since no guard/thief last to have walls.
CoF – Ranger , least amount of things for the pet to screw up I guess
HoTW – Necro, gotta put it somewhere
CoE – Engi, another just ‘/shrug i guess this’ choices
Arah – Warrior, if you’re not gonna have a thief in arah movement is huge, thus warrior.

Overall Necro/engi/ranger are just tossed in what IMO are the most strait forward dungeons. Rangers are fine, if they could just kill off their gosh darn pets, so many times they have ruined the setups, just really really really dumb AI, should be AS artificial stupidity.

Personally I like how my group runs things though. Ele, Mesmer, Guard, Warrior, Thief, everything you need is covered in every dungeon/fractal =).

Nec has proven useful in hotw p1. They can bypass the reflects of the last boss with axe, slow his movement with all the chill/crip/immob that comes with them and spike the protect totem with wells or use piercing life blast(yes i know auto attack for axe sux but any competant nec will use life blast for auto). On stair boss they can quickly take out the adds even if they are spread.

Well u can switch to dagger too. But can u melee him wen he doing the reflect? I was pretty sure u couldn’t. Def not with necro dagger.

You can as long as you go MAX melee range. If you move an inch closer, he will hit you. Sort of like playing russian roulette.

alright imma try it tonight! If its not a pain to pull off dagger dps is worth it.

They actually dont really die that much and the boon stripping and utility mesmers have is very helpful in a lot of places in CoE.

Not really. And I dont know why you guys are overthinking it xD

The answer to the question of the thread’s title is conditional on which professions the other 4 members of your party are playing/can play. For instance, if you have no Ele’s in your group, you should play Ele. If there are 3 Ele’s in your group and no War, you should play War.

For almost every dungeon, you should aim for: 2 Eles, 1 War, 1 Thief, 1 other (Mes/Guard/Ele/Ranger, depending on dungeon path). There are a few exceptions (eg. an extra Ele instead of a War for SE p1), but this rule usually holds.

Oh I was thinking if you had to solo the whole dungeon lol

Boon Stripping the robot after the security system is just wonderful. Mesmer with the disenchanters can make that fight much less painful than it can be otherwise. Sure there’s other options, but I do love my mesmers there.

Why I still like just having a group of ele, guard, war, thief, mes regardless of dungeon, just have a great coverage with all those options. Optimal, naw, but it’ll get you through anything.
