Who is your favorite dungeon boss?
Giganticus lupicus bar none. He is probably the only boss that you need to prepare for. He is tough but the feeling after you down this big guy is the best.

I have been wanting to run that dungeon just to fight him everyone always has good things to say about that(and I hope they don’t nerf him before I get to). I got busy trying to get my CoF armour for my War and by the time I did I started on my Guardian alt. That and the male heavy armour on Arah looks kinda… ehh. lol
The bosses from CoF path 1 and 2 and SE path 1 and 3. They fall fast enough, are quite easy to understand and without tons of extra mobs nor one-shot-skills . Most PuGs are able to do them. Those are the ones most people can just run into and learn the rest on the go. I enjoy that.
kohler, old and new. low health, fast to kill if you know what you’re doing, but still dangerous.
Going to have to throw my vote in as well for Giganticus Lupicus. Especially as a guardian who gets to tank him (well, for phase 3 at least, he doesnt wanna stick on me at phase 2 for some reason ;O). It’s a blast!
Giganticus Lupicus. Feels like he’s out of an action game instead of just another faceroll damage sponge. Dynamic. Requires personal skill far more than build min/maxing.
I don’t like the idea of P1 in ethos, but in practice even that is fun.
really bad engineer
Iron Forgeman from SE story. Gaheron Baelfire from CoF story would be my second choice… I like bosses with unique mechanics, that you need to figure out, instead of dodging everytime you see somekind of animation or something and after that is just hack and slash. New AC is a step in the right direction, would love to see other explorables revamped.
Simin before that ‘Mango Pie Heal’ nerf. :P

Lupi is getting alot of fans in this game lol. I would say the new Ghost Eater from AC p2 would be up there as well if it wasn’t for all the bugs. The new mechanics demand teamwork. And I know what you mean by just a damage sponge… If they would rework the boss from CoF P3 that would be a really fun encounter and challenging rather than just dodging and attacking for 30 mins trying to wear his health down. That is one reason not alot of people will run that path is he takes so long to kill but they did make the fight fun and keep you involved rather than just zoneing out auto attacking while watching tv lol.
New Ghost Eater gets my vote as well – the new mechanics are alot of fun – even though Giganticus Lupicus and Kholer arent far behind.
Additionally, there will always be a place in my heart for Test Subject Alpha and Sure Shot Seamus. The first times I met those two particular bosses stick out clearly in my mind.
Lupus
Alpha
Kholer before the AC changes
Giganticus Lupicus. No matter how many times I’ve killed him, it’s still fun because he isn’t a damage sponge like most bosses in this game. He has distinct phases with new abilities that matter (ex. grubs during the transition to p2) so you can’t simply ignore them. There’s actually a risk of dying and this makes it exciting.
I love Andal with the two quaggans in HotW path 2. Lots of running around, so much fun.
Lupicus is great, which I had a mini of him.
Retired Until Expansion or Meaningful Content is Released.
Lady Vevina in TA exp up/up path, and the High Priestess of Lyssa in Malchors Leap, Mesmer bosses just make the best bosses I think.
1.Lupi
2.Alpha path 2
3.The 2 golem boss in SE 2
4.The Freeze Guy in CM (can’t remember what path)
5.The new Ghost Eater AC 2
Dwayna (Simmin) boss in Arah path 4 before the patch where she was nerfed.
Giganticus Lupus is now in first because he’s the only boss that is still tricky even if you know what to do (depends on the group).
Other than that, trying to solo champions in Orr zones is always something different and fun.
Giganticus Lupicus – Multi Phase Boss
Dredge Mining Suit – Control Boss Mechanic while managing endurance for dodges (try it in melee instead of saying its easy cause you range it)
Legendary Flaming Effigy (pre-nerfed version) – Even to this day, I still see majority of pugs fail to dodge his attacks. They’ll even stand in front of his Flame breath coming out of his hand and wonder why they down. Not to mention they don’t dodge the burn inflicting attack while eating the breath. What’s even better are the ones that don’t know they can rally off crystals.
Simin, before they made it easy mode with the last patch.
Giganticus Lupicus because of his multiple stages and how he becomes much easier to fight when you learn how to dodge all the necessary attacks. I think he has the most individual mechanics compared to any other dungeon boss in the game.
Giganticus lupicus bar none. He is probably the only boss that you need to prepare for. He is tough but the feeling after you down this big guy is the best.
This. GL is the epitome of boss design in this game, as he is threatening, and even when you’re a pro group, you need to be aware and paying attention. Furthermore, you don’t want to afk him; he is fun, engaging, and exciting even when you’ve done him hundreds of times like I have. He is exactly what every boss should strive to be like, and he is exactly what ANet needs to make more of in this game.
So should the devs take a look at lupi and see what makes him fun and try to apply that in a unique way to the other dungeons?

Yes, but then you’d have an outcry of how dungeons will take way too long and are way too hard now that you can no longer mash your face on your keyboard for tokens.
Lieutenant in AC EM.

lol I have argued that point before severly. But after I sat down and ran AC a few times with a good team I relized it wasn’t the dungeon it was the group… People jump to conclusions (Croatoan<being one) that the dungeon is just to hard when in fact the team isn’t bringing the right skills, booning, condition removing, and etc. You have to help your teammates you can not just bring stuff to just boon yourself. My guardian is a support machine and that is what I built it for when you have a team that communicates and works together and not like (screw that nub he went down I’ll solo all 20 guys myself).CC and some form of healing is really great for AC now.
BUT lets keep this on subject I am leaning toward a funner experince now.
Another vote for Giganticus Lupicus. Very dynamic, fast paced, and there is always a risk of going down no matter how much you know him.
I also like the new AC bosses, especially Rumblus when Grast does not bug out (which hasn’t happened to me yet.) I also like the Howling King, quick and easy if you get it, a pain in the kitten if you don’t.
My Favorit is AC path 2 final boss
hmmmmm I rarely come across a boss not easily exploited or soloable, but I’d probs go for lupi too. Ive only done one path in arah and it was the one with him. Also we succeeded (in completing the path) but fighting lupi was definately challenging and engaging unlike a lot of the other bosses (especially the nightmare tree)
Honorable mention bloodly victoria for being the first boss I had to exploit to beat solo(after they fixed the rock exploit btw).

Lupicus. Sometimes he just seems out to get you.
All the dungeons provide a unique challenge and all paths are differnt but there seems to be a theme now that people only want to run the easiest/quickest. I promise if we could look at the data rightnow CoF P1 is probably being ran atleast 80X more than any other dungeon and any two paths combined. Me personally I have been looking at CM for awhile and I couldn’t really find a group to run it but I am about to start investing alot of time in it if I can :/
Lupi and p2 Subject Alpha as well. And CoF p1’s final boss isn’t bad either, you have to be pretty active in fighting him…unlike…ahem…HotW’s p1 boss…
Moss Man at level40+ **** yeah!
Lupi and Kholer get my vote here.
i enjoy any boss where you don’t just mindlessly mash buttons until dead. where you have to learn their moves, be active and reactive. hoepfulyl we’ll see more fun bosses in the future : ))
Akaigi | Warrior Made of Wood
[CDS] – Sanctum of Rall
Couldn’t tell you what boss is my favorite as it seems to change depending on my mood but a different question might be which bosses would win against who.
Actually kind of curious if the designers ever tried putting different dungeon bosses in the same instance to watch them duke it out for fun.
Leo that is pretty interesting. If all the bosses were the same level…. Bloody Victioria CM would win everytime with her insta kill lol. But other than that I would say Rumbulus would win invulnrablity and such.
Moss Man at level40+ **** yeah!
I hate Mossman. He’s just not a fun boss. He’s invisible half of the time, throws axes from invisibility, stacks multiple stacks of Agony on players because as if his axe weren’t bad enough, it also bounces… Just a dumb boss in general.
Subject Alpha, as much for the memories as anything else.
Oolune :: Engineer — Arrow Of Oolune :: Human Ranger -- Shadow Of Oolune :: Human Thief
Box The Turtle :: Human Warrior — Bolobuns Of Steel :: Human Guardian
Yep, Lupi & Kholer got my vote.
Kholer with his fancy moves, doing nothing but waste your dodges so he can finish you up w/ his pull & spin. The best designed boss there is for a low level dungeon.
No need to say anything about Lupi.
Subject Alpha isn’t that bad but fighting him 2,3 times in a path making it a tedious chore and wear off his novelty.
Subject Alpha! I love a boss with recognizable attacks that must be dodged or else you die. It makes the fight so much more entertaining for me.
As an asura, I do this all the time.”

This². He is the true boss of GW2. It’s not something that has too much health or too much damage but rather it has clever skills that you need to dodge/negate. If you die at it you really feel the need to improve yourself and THAT is great.

I agree. Overall, going in higher level of fractals will just increase dmg/health of bosses. Not make them more interesting.

^this.
With his three phases and big attacks, he is the only thing that “feels” like a proper dungeon boss in this game. All the other bosses just feel like beefed up versions of normal mobs, like Champions.
Do you even lift, bro?
Mossman from fractals and Lupicus Arah! those two are my favorites
Ghost Eater→ team work !
Colossus Rumblus→ Remember stability or else you are pushed out of the bubble xD fun though
One of the most annoying bosses.. Sureshot-Seamus with all his knock backs in CM-.-
Sorel→~Saga/Ranger~Shadow/Guardian~Balthazor/Warrior

As expected, bosses with telegraphed one-shot mechanics are considered good. Exciting but still simple enough that everyone can feel good for pressing one button.
Lupi. With a phase 3 health divided by 2, it would be the perfect boss for an end-game dungeon.
Both variation of Kohler (old & new) even if he has no place in a lvl 35 dungeon.
Cof P2 Acolytes / stones. (Easy, need coordination).
The other bosses are either easy/fast/okay (some variations of nightmare tree, CoF effigy, etc.) or tedious (especially CM, HotW and above all every new AC bosses).
Emmeline Ivardottir — Duelist (Sword & Focus Mesmer) — Sunrise / The Anomaly
Lupi’s become boring/easy now, but his mechanic is still awesome and I hope Anet include more bosses like him. Still really enjoy alpha too.
|-Swiftpaw Sharpclaw [DnT]-|
Lupi’s become boring/easy now.
Try speedkilling him. Makes it much more FUN.
Out on a limb here:
Crazy Asura from Uncategorized Fractal, due to his cute but sometimes deadly golems. The fact that his agony attack can be reflected back to him but him being invuln is really neat.
Angry Intent | Multiple Servers
WTB Razor Blade Free Candy!
Lupicus and Alpha, for sure.
However I’d say the boss that felt the most rewarding was Dwayna pre-nerf (Post-January patch, pre-February).
