So right now, if the maker disconnects your entire group is kicked from FotM. Last night I was in a good group doing FotM level 26. Just made it to the 3rd fractal and boom. All of us kicked.

This morning, I joined a different team. We just made it to the 2nd fractal when… disconnect again! All of us kicked to LA. I’m so tired of this. Yes it’s fun, but I am playing well, my teams are playing well, and we’re not getting the tokens and gear we are supposed to be getting. This needs to change. If the maker disconnects (Edit: or leaves the group) the game should automatically set a new maker for the group.

Edit: In before “Why don’t you always make?” This still wouldn’t be fair if I did disconnect, and it limits being able to increase fractal level since you can’t only run evens and advance that way. That’s not the right solution.

Edit2: In before “Don’t run with that person anymore.” It’s been pugs both times. Not every guild has enough people to run FotM 26, which is what I run on my warrior and on my guardian.

Edit3: People are telling me that when the maker leaves the group (not just disconnects) the whole party is kicked. Maybe that’s what is happening here, since I’m running with pugs and don’t know the people. I don’t see why the maker left because both groups were doing well but it is definitely possible. In that case, its just as bad. The other 4 players should not be penalized because one player leaves. ANet needs to fix this, and fast! I’m tired of not getting credit when the group is doing well.

No that’s not true. I’ve been the maker of many many fractals runs and I can disconnect and reconnect as much as I want without kicking everyone out.

There are two ways for the entire team to be kicked out:

1) You kick the creator of the instance… in that situation the entire party will also be ported outside

2) The creator changes character. It doesn’t matter if you just disconnect, I’ve done it lots of times, even when I was the creator, disconnect to get out in LA, relog, repair, get back in. The only way to kick the entire party out is to change your character, simply disconnecting isn’t enough

Yes, maddoctor is correct. You can only reset an instance in three ways:

  • Everyone in the group leaves the instance.
  • The instance leader changes characters.
  • The instance leader leaves the group by whatever means.

I’m not making this up. This happened both last night and this morning. Both times the entire party was kicked to LA. I guess I don’t know what caused it, I had assumed the creator disconnected. Here are the possibilities:

1) There is anew bug that kicks 4 of 5 people to LA and drops one for some reason we don’t yet know.
2) Something is wrong and when the maker disconnects it does still kick the party to LA.
3) The leader of the pug switched characters (both times? Hardly likely)
4) The instance leader left the group.

Maybe it is #4, but in that case they still need to fix the problem. Just have it switch the instance creator to another character. It’s not right that I keep running FotM with decent groups, and don’t get credit.

I agree that they need to fix the issue of an instance leader owning an instance at all. That said, I am confident that, as of the time of this post, disconnecting as instance leader in FotM or other dungeons will not reset the instance. It happened to me (disconnect) a scant few hours ago and my runs were fine.

Theres no issue. It should be like this. If i make a group, set rules, set tactics to be used and people dont listen, they have no right being in my run and if I want to leave, they should be kicked out.

What are you talking about? The person leaving didn’t make any rules in either circumstance. They were just the person to enter first. I don’t even think that they made the party in either case (though I could be wrong about that.) Saying that people weren’t obeying their orders so they left, that is just making up stuff that didn’t happen.

Both groups were doing good. There was no one not following orders, and no one giving orders.
