Why are dungeons "static" in the year 2013?
I think rolling the pug lottery makes dungeons a lot less static.
Also, I find enjoyment in bettering myself. For example today I skipped the last section of trash in Arah p2 without dying once whereas normally I’ll faceplant at least once. Then there’s the whole “let’s see how quickly we can kill this boss” thing.

It’s the same every time because it is a computer game. Most computer games have the same content if you repeat them again and again. Skyrim was a pretty good RPG computer game, it’s dungeons were pretty much the same when repeated, and I’ve got more hours out of play from GW2.
If you want unpredictability you need human intervention to create fresh challenges. A designer is not going to be sitting there creating a new dungeon for you by hand each time you want one, so go to PvP for human challenge with unpredictable opponents.
I’d say that the problem lies more in the fact that there’s no incentive to do any more than the bare minimum in order to get rewarded for completing a dungeon. AC, for example, has the ghosts underneath the stairs, the initial graveling nest, and the cave troll, but there’s no reason to do any of it because the reward you’ll receive is negligible. The same thing applies to trash mobs in general: Hardly anyone wants to bother taking the extra time killing them when they’re most likely going to get the same reward just for making it to the end regardless of what they did along the way.
There’s also the fact that the majority of the game’s bosses require virtually no strategy other than pure DPS and the occasional dodge. What they need to do is implement bosses that have less HP and tankiness, but have more unique mechanics that make it take more than sheer damage bursts to kill. It seems like they’re taking a step in this direction with the world bosses, but what Anet really needs to do is take care of the existing dungeons and finish reworking them as promised, because from what I’ve seen that’s where the majority of this game’s PvE endgame lies anyway.
I guess what I’m wishing for would be more or less randomized (naughty word, huh?) content on the main path, not the optional events / mobs / bosses.
Consider following: There could be like 3-4 different bosses in the Spider queen room in AC, but only 1 of them will spawn. Players only know which boss spawn at the very moment the boss spawn and get the aggro. Even 2 different possibilities would already create some unpredictability when entering the room.
The molten alliance actually had this system for the fight at the end of the tunnel if anyone remembers that dungeon. Fractals also has this to some degree with 2 possible paths on a few lvl. The problem is that this alternation is still so few and far between that is does not create the feeling of being surprised at all.
Stuff like this could be expanded and built on so much more, and create a truly dynamic feel every time you enter a dungeon. Just my daydreams again but one can wish a dev reads this and gets the cogs rolling
If you want random stuff to happen , stop grouping with
Guildies . You wont get anything special from them .
Pugs are better just to make it funnier . The other
Day i joined a party and.the guy who started the
Dungeon knew that we wont kick him so he removed
All his armor atacked lupicus.and started tu run
In circles . The players make those boring
Dungeons a fun experience !
…Why do you write all your vaguely dumb forum posts, in short lines. If I want to read poems I go to school…A t s e……….please stop!

This thread makes a little bit inside me commit suicide.
People are just farming. If people dont’ mind clicking 1 all day champ farming. They probably don’t mind stacking in a corner auto attacking the boss.
It’s like the new TA, sure it is interesting. But I doubt the farmers will go back again. They rather do the easier dungeon which give guaranteed reward.
In GW1, DoA (the ‘hardest’ elite area in the game to most people) also boiled down to organized pulls to certain pull spots and spiking the balls when they were done.
For some reason, back in GW1, very little people complained about this.
It might have looked static, but when your goal is to better yourself and get the best out of runs, it is far from static.

Boils down to “I don’t like dungeons because I don’t like stacking and LoS tactics”.

No tl;dr means I dr.
Dungeons are static because the dungeon team was removed and force to spew out horrible content every two weeks for the living story.
RIP in peace Robert

Yeah the dungeon team is gone and now new dungeons fall under the Living World jurisdiction. Can’t wait to see what Lolet and the Herpblades will do to the other dungeons.
The upside to this be that the LS team is 3 for 3 with making decent paths.
