Chill must be really useful in pve while you’re cleaving or meleeing everything, especially knowing the fact that AI doesn’t have cooldowns in this game.

10 things people STILL don’t know about rangers:

1. Flanking rangers running 1h / axe with full endurance and +%90 HP and a live jaguar have a DPS near equal to warriors. (Sometimes even greater when the enemy does not have a boon [Warriors gain DPS from enemy boons])

2. Rangers increase the effectiveness of summoned weapons because no pet DPS is lost when wielding one. (Because other classes have a higher base weapon skill damage, more is sacrificed when they pick up a summoned weapon)

3. Frost spirit can increase the entire party’s damage by 7% in combat areas that last less than a minute (most bosses under melee burn)

4. The 1h sword has poison which decreases enemy healing

5. The AoE DPS added by the LB’s barrage (before swapping to melee) makes it a better choice than SB in stacking situations

6. The Jungle Stalker applies 5 stacks of might for 12 and a half seconds at least

7. Healing spring creates a condition safe melee zone that greatly reduces the DPS of bosses like the flame effigy or colossus fractal cultist

8. The top rated ranger build can burn the gate controller down faster than the top rated warrior build

9. A ranger’s best friend is a might stacking ele with a lightning hammer to follow up (hammer blasts in healing spring result in group near-invincibility)

10. Whenever a group performs perma-fury, rangers should ditch the warhorn for an offhand axe.

what is the current cookie cutter ranger dps build atm?

Did anyone answer? Guang and Brazil came up with 20/25/0/25/0 with spotter and frost spirit, basically. Zerk for sustained dps. Sigil of strength and companions might (already have boon sharing with fortifying bond) so thats a lot of might on pet. Sword/axe and axe/warhorn. Or just warhorn offhand if you’re into speed clears. Did I miss anything? Strength of spirit / vigorous spirits are good choices.

yeah I managed to dig out brazil’s video guide. would be really nice if I can get 50% endurance regen but that means I have to sacrifice spotter or damage modifiers :/

what pets do I get though? pets that pew out might or fury is nice but not really necessary in a group that blasts firefields

only pets worth taking: jaguar (dps), jungle stalker (might), red moa (fury), reef drake (will survive a few hits, plus blast finisher in regular attacks).

It depends what you need to fill gaps in your group. A skilled ranger will pick up on what the team is doing rather quickly and then switch pets to compensate. Need fury? Red moa. Like you said, drakes for blasting.

If you have a well coordinated group for absolute burst, probably Jaguar with pet prowess and companions might. Probably sick em shout. Guang and brazil might have more to say on this, but would master’s bond (assuming full 25 stacks of +8 all stats for pet) be comparable to Bountiful hunter?

Devourers are surprisingly forgiving and spiders are fantastic dps. Spider dps is comparable to jag’s now, at least for targets that move it’s better. Don’t forget: anet patched pets several months ago to flatten their damage. Also, buffs are incoming to bears and moas according to recent blog posts.

my ranger is a longbow/sword-warhorn.

i have to agree that in dungeon you need to be melee. but i draw out the lb once in a while for barrage…..

Far as I know rangers are very OP if played correctly
But sadly most them are noobs who roll their face on the keyboard, and not team players ruin their rep just like warriors during the release

That is a Hilarious Quote! ….. “Adapting” implies some kind of move towards proficiency. We’re more along the lines of …. “Getting less Worst” b/c all of our utilities and traits do super-basic & boring uncompressed things.

Best mission bonus ever if you were a big time roleplaying Ranger. And I think we can all agree, anyone still playing ranger is big into RP’ing….and animals. Maybe even both at the same time
