Ranger has the highest learning curve of all of the classes in GW2.

Given that the rangers GS’s evade is short duration and cancels your dodges it’s even worse than using sword, which you can at least interrupt via queueing other skills.

You can also just not use auto?…

First off, I have both melee’d and ledge/longbowed that lava boss. Both are fine. Longbow is a little safer but actually does incredible damage with zerk gear. It’s really comparable to swors when at max range and it’s much stronger than people realize right now.

It really doesn’t do incredible damage. Your pet ins’t dpsing, you’re not receiving fury and might from the party, also aegis, which completely nullifies any dodging issues on the destroyer fight.

Ah, almost forgot,the warrior didn’t had tooth, he failed to jump to the boss and fell in the lava (like every single pug, ever).

As said above, rangers, just like engineers, have a bad reputation because most of players are noobs with these classes.
With rangers, you will mostly see stupid pew pewing with LB at max range, bringing 0 contribution to the group (max range = out of your party’s support and bringing 0 support to your team). Or the same with SB faster pewpew !
As for engineers its spam 1 Flamethrower x)

So true, so true. I haven’t seen a single ranger ingame who used a sword for dungeons. Most of them try pewpewing with their bows no matter what they’re up against. At least that’s some kind of retroactive justification for the class’ designation in WoW: huntard.

But I did wanna say: Brazil’s actually 100% kitten right about something: Taking off Auto does not fix the main issue with sword’s server-side’ish Attack Queue behavior. It’s literally the only weapon in the game that has this screwed up functionality too when it doesn’t have to have it. … I just can’t put my finger on the exact fix though that would let it retain its constant lunging movement without breaks in the attack-queue causing a rubber-bandy Teleporting behavior server-side. :p

Just take off the lunge in PvE

As good as Spotter and Frost Spirit are, there are still some pretty nasty problems. Pets are gonna be dead at Lupicus unless you do a [SOLO] style speed kill, you can’t max melee range with sword, etc etc.

most pug hammer guardians I’ve seen are not aware of their 3-5 skills

I still think that the biggest culprit of pushing mobs away has to be the GS camper mesmer.

I rarely see hammer guardians in the open world. It’s always staff or greatsword.

I like it when pug rangers/mesmers push the grub to Lupicus during Phase 1. I once had a really low DPS pug manage to get Lupicus to 5 grubs this way.

If you feed him 25 grubs, does that make reflecting his projectiles more powerful? I don’t run Arah much.

it also makes him tankier so I doubt that it’s worth feeding him grubs.

With 25 stacks of empowered a perfect feedback hits for about 10k/projectile.

You just didn’t have luck meeting rangers. Before quickness change I was tanking with GS, now I am still trying to use sword.

Did anyone answer? Guang and Brazil came up with 20/25/0/25/0 with spotter and frost spirit, basically. Zerk for sustained dps. Sigil of strength and companions might (already have boon sharing with fortifying bond) so thats a lot of might on pet. Sword/axe and axe/warhorn. Or just warhorn offhand if you’re into speed clears. Did I miss anything? Strength of spirit / vigorous spirits are good choices.

Friends don’t let friends use mainhand axe on ranger.

Ya, I dunno, three 1500+ bounces isn’t awful for a ranger attack. I like it for weakness/chill on a boss to be honest. I slum it man. I’m a PUGster. Lfg!
